How to Capture Website Screenshots at 720-Pixel Android Tablet Size in India

Set Chrome DevTools to a 720 CSS-pixel viewport for repeatable tablet-size captures, or screenshot a real Android tablet. Learn the difference between viewport and image width.

To capture a website at a 720-pixel Android tablet size, open it in Chrome on a computer, enable DevTools Device Mode, choose Responsive, and enter 720 in the width field. Set the height you need, then choose More options > Capture screenshot for the visible area or Capture a full size screenshot for the whole page. This sets the layout viewport to 720 CSS pixels; it does not guarantee that the saved image file is exactly 720 raster pixels wide. Check the exported file if exact image dimensions matter. Chrome DevTools describes Device Mode as a first-order approximation of how a page looks and feels on a mobile device.

Choose the right kind of 720-pixel capture

Before capturing, decide which measurement and environment you need:

Need Use
Test how a responsive layout behaves at 720 CSS pixels Chrome DevTools Responsive mode with width set to 720
Deliver an image exactly 720 raster pixels wide Capture, inspect the image dimensions, then resize or crop if needed
Show the whole page, including below the fold DevTools full-size screenshot
Record what a particular tablet and browser actually display Capture directly on that physical Android tablet

Three things are easy to confuse:

  • Viewport width is the width the website uses for responsive layout, measured in CSS pixels.
  • Device pixel ratio (DPR) describes how CSS pixels map to display pixels and affects raster output.
  • Image width is the saved file’s actual pixel width. Inspect it when a delivery system requires an exact size.

A 720 CSS-pixel viewport is the right setting for a 720-wide layout check. DPR and capture behavior affect the resulting raster image, so verify the file rather than assuming its width.

Capture at 720 CSS pixels with Chrome DevTools

  1. Open the page in Chrome on a computer.
  2. Open DevTools and enable Toggle device toolbar.
  3. In the device toolbar, select Responsive. Enter 720 for width and set the height to the viewport height you want to inspect.
  4. Choose the device type and DPR appropriate to the check. Use Mobile when you want the page evaluated with a mobile viewport. If you expect tablet-specific or desktop behavior, inspect the result and configure the device accordingly; do not assume that every tablet should use a mobile site layout.
  5. Open the toolbar’s More options menu. Choose Capture screenshot for the visible viewport, or Capture a full size screenshot to include the full page.
  6. Open the saved image and check its pixel dimensions. If a downstream requirement says exactly 720 pixels wide, resize or crop to 720 after capture and check that important content remains visible.

Chrome provides controls for dimensions, device type, and DPR, as well as viewport and full-size capture. For repeatable work, add a custom device under DevTools Settings > Devices > Add custom device. Give it a name and enter width and height; DPR, user agent, and device type are optional settings. See the Chrome DevTools Device Mode guide.

Visible viewport or full page?

A viewport screenshot records only the area currently visible at the selected height. A full-size screenshot captures the page beyond the fold as well. Use the viewport option for responsive checks of a particular screenful; use full-size capture for page reviews or documentation where below-the-fold content matters. Long pages can produce very tall files, so check whether the destination accepts them.

Capture the actual screen on an Android tablet

To show what a particular tablet really displays, open the target website on that tablet and use its built-in screenshot control. Android’s general guidance describes pressing Power + Volume Down. The exact control and menu can vary by manufacturer and model. Android’s screenshot guide explains capturing, viewing, editing, and sharing screenshots.

On Android 12 and later, Capture more can extend a screenshot on many scrollable screens; availability depends on the device and screen. For Lenovo tablets, Lenovo India’s support instructions describe holding Power and Volume Down together and finding captures in Photos under Library > Screenshots. That support page applies to Lenovo’s covered guidance, not every Android tablet sold in India.

Account for tablet browser behavior

A real tablet capture and a DevTools simulation may show different layouts because the browser mode can differ. Chrome says desktop-site mode is enabled by default on premium Android tablets it describes as having at least a 10-inch display and 8 GB of RAM. Users can change desktop-site settings, and existing opt-outs are respected. See Chrome’s explanation of desktop mode on Android tablets.

For responsive design work, DevTools makes the viewport repeatable. For device-specific rendering, browser settings, or system UI, the actual tablet is the final reference. If you need both, capture once in DevTools at 720 CSS pixels and once on the device, then compare the page layout and the saved file dimensions separately.

Or skip the browser setup

For a server-side capture at a chosen viewport, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. The request below uses the API’s documented call pattern; replace the target URL with the page you need. Set viewport options using the ScreenshotNeo API documentation.

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
import requests
r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
if (!res.ok) throw new Error(`Screenshot request failed: ${res.status}`);
await Bun.write('shot.webp', res);

ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie and consent banners like a visitor and removes 60+ known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks and CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots.

Troubleshooting

Symptom Likely cause Fix
The exported file is not 720 pixels wide 720 was set as the CSS viewport width; DPR and capture output determine raster dimensions. Inspect the file’s actual dimensions. Resize or crop to the required width and verify the result.
The page looks like a phone layout, not a tablet layout Device type, user agent, or the site’s responsive breakpoints affect rendering. Check the intended tablet behavior. Adjust the DevTools device configuration, or verify on the actual tablet.
The real tablet shows a different site or layout The browser may request a desktop site, or a user setting may override its default. Check the browser’s desktop-site setting and compare with a controlled DevTools capture.
Only the top of the page appears A viewport capture records the visible area only. Use Capture a full size screenshot in DevTools, or use the device’s extended capture feature when available.
The tablet button combination does not work Screenshot controls vary by manufacturer, model, and software. Check that tablet maker’s instructions or the device’s screenshot menu. Power + Volume Down is common Android guidance, not universal.
The full-page image is extremely tall or missing content The page may load content as it scrolls, or a full-page capture may create a very large file. Allow the page to finish loading, try the device’s extended capture where supported, or capture sections separately if the destination cannot accept a tall image.

Performance, reliability, and cost

  • Repeatability: DevTools gives you a direct, reusable viewport setting. Save a custom device if you repeat the same dimensions.
  • Fidelity: Device Mode is an approximation. Use the physical tablet when its browser, hardware, settings, or system interface matters.
  • Capture time: Large pages and pages that load content as you scroll can take longer to inspect and may yield very tall files. Confirm that images and other important content have appeared before capture.
  • Cost: The documented DevTools workflow and built-in Android screenshot controls do not require a paid screenshot service. ScreenshotNeo has a free tier and paid plans; check its pricing page for current plan details.

FAQ

Is 720 pixels a standard Android tablet width?

This procedure treats 720 as the requested CSS viewport width. The research does not establish a universal 720-pixel Android tablet standard.

Can I capture a website at exactly 720 pixels wide?

You can request a 720 CSS-pixel viewport in DevTools. For an image file exactly 720 raster pixels wide, inspect the saved file and resize or crop it if necessary.

Does a DevTools screenshot prove how every Android tablet renders the page?

No. It is useful for repeatable layout checks, while a physical tablet is the relevant check for device-specific browser and rendering behavior.

Does the Lenovo button method apply to every tablet in India?

No. It is Lenovo support guidance for its covered tablets. Android’s common button combination is Power + Volume Down, but controls vary by device.
