How to capture Indian bank website pages with a screenshot API

Capture public Indian bank pages with a screenshot API: choose the URL, output, viewport, and readiness settings, and handle private banking data carefully.

To capture a public Indian bank webpage, send its URL to a screenshot API, choose an image format and viewport, and set a readiness condition that gives the page time to render. Enable full-page capture if you need content below the fold. Before sending any URL, check the bank’s terms and the provider’s data handling. Do not casually send banking credentials, session cookies, statements, account dashboards, or transaction history to a third-party renderer.

A successful render does not prove that you are authorized to access or capture a page. The steps below cover public informational pages such as product, branch, rate, or notice pages. Authenticated banking pages require additional authorization and security review.

1. Choose the page and confirm access

  1. Identify the exact public page you need, and review the bank’s terms and any access restrictions.
  2. Prefer pages that do not require a login and do not contain personal or account information.
  3. Choose a provider only after reviewing its request format, supported outputs, usage limits, rendering geography, retention, and security terms.
  4. Use only a page and capture method you are authorized to access. A working endpoint, browser cookie option, or successful render does not establish permission.

API Setu’s terms apply to use of its platform; they do not automatically govern bank websites or screenshot providers. They are one example of authorized-use expectations: access should be for lawful, authorized purposes and within valid credentials and permissions. See API Setu’s permitted use and access terms.

2. Set the capture options

Use the provider’s documented parameter names; APIs differ, so confirm the exact syntax and defaults in the documentation for your chosen service.

Option How to choose
URL Use the exact public page URL, including its path and query parameters if needed. Avoid URLs that expose secrets in the query string.
Format Choose PNG for lossless detail, JPEG for a smaller photographic image, or WebP if supported by the provider and your downstream tools. Confirm the returned content type and file extension.
Viewport Set width and height to match the layout you want to inspect. A narrow viewport can trigger a mobile layout; a desktop-sized viewport may show navigation differently.
Full page Enable it when the output must include the whole scrollable document. Without it, the result generally covers only the viewport; check the provider’s semantics.
Readiness Wait for a documented page-load condition, a relevant selector, or a short delay. A page can finish navigation before client-rendered content appears.
Output and limits Check maximum dimensions, file size, request timeout, rate limits, and whether the API returns the image directly or a job/result URL.

Cloudflare describes its screenshot endpoint as processing a page’s HTML and JavaScript before capturing the rendered page. Its documentation includes viewport, navigation wait, and full-page controls. These are documented capabilities, not a guarantee that a particular bank page will render successfully. Screenshot API also documents URL-based REST requests, image and PDF formats, full-page capture, viewport dimensions, and wait controls. Documentation establishes feature availability, not compatibility with every bank website. Screenshot API documentation.

3. Capture a public page using a documented API

Below is a cURL template for a URL-based screenshot API. Replace the endpoint, authentication, and option names with the values documented by your provider. This example is deliberately a template: the research sources do not establish a shared request schema or current pricing for the example providers.

curl -G 'PROVIDER_SCREENSHOT_ENDPOINT' \
  --data-urlencode 'url=https://www.example-bank.in/personal-banking' \
  --data-urlencode 'format=png' \
  --data-urlencode 'width=1440' \
  --data-urlencode 'height=1000' \
  --data-urlencode 'full_page=true' \
  -o bank-page.png

Set authentication as the provider specifies, preferably through a secret store or environment variable rather than a checked-in script. For an API that returns a job identifier, poll or retrieve the result according to its documented workflow instead of treating the initial response as image bytes.

4. Verify the result

  1. Check the HTTP status and response content type before saving the body as an image.
  2. Open the output and confirm it is not an error page, blank state, CAPTCHA, access denial, or incomplete loading state.
  3. Check that the expected content appears at the selected viewport and that full-page output includes the needed lower sections.
  4. For dynamic pages, adjust the provider’s wait condition and repeat only if authorized. Do not attempt to bypass access controls.
  5. Store the image only as long as required. Restrict access if it might contain personal or sensitive information.

This inspection is a recommended quality check. It is not a claim that any Indian bank page was tested during preparation of this guide.

5. Keep authenticated banking data out of casual capture workflows

A login page, account dashboard, statement, or transaction history can expose sensitive financial and personal information. Do not pass login credentials or session cookies to a third-party screenshot service casually. If an authenticated capture is genuinely necessary, first confirm explicit authorization, provider security and retention arrangements, and an approved data-processing basis. API Setu’s security responsibilities discuss safeguards such as access controls, encryption, and audit logs for sensitive or personal data; those terms apply to that platform and are not a blanket rule for bank captures. India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 describes consent requirements where consent is the basis for processing. Commencement is notified separately, and the 2025 Rules have staggered commencement dates. Check current commencement, applicability, and the facts of the processing rather than assuming a blanket legal conclusion for a particular screenshot. Or skip the browser setup

ScreenshotNeo accepts a URL in one GET request and returns a screenshot or PDF. Its options include output format, viewport, full-page capture, wait controls, and more; see the ScreenshotNeo API documentation before choosing settings. Use it for a public page you are authorized to capture. Do not send bank credentials, session cookies, statements, or account pages unless authorization and the provider’s security and privacy arrangements have been reviewed.

ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie and consent banners like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each of those steps can be turned off. Bot checks and CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and responses identify the page verdict and billing status in headers. Its MCP server gives AI agents tools for screenshots, page information, and PDF capture. Troubleshooting

Symptom Likely cause What to do
Blank image The page did not finish rendering, navigation failed, or the provider returned a blank/error state. Inspect status and response headers, confirm the URL is publicly accessible, and use a documented readiness condition or longer wait. Do not retry in a way that circumvents a block.
Cookie banner covers content The site presents a consent overlay to a new visitor. Use a provider’s documented consent handling if available and appropriate, or capture the page state with the overlay visible. Respect the site’s terms and consent choices.
CAPTCHA or access-denied page The site or its protection service blocked automated access. Stop automated attempts and seek permission or an approved access route. A screenshot API feature does not grant authorization to bypass a challenge.
Content below the fold is missing Full-page capture is disabled or unsupported for the request. Enable the provider’s documented full-page option and check any maximum page dimensions.
Page is cut off or uses the wrong layout Viewport dimensions triggered a different responsive breakpoint or exceeded an output limit. Set explicit width and height appropriate to the desired desktop or mobile rendering.
Dynamic content is absent Navigation completed before scripts or asynchronous content finished. Wait for a relevant selector or documented readiness state, or use a modest delay. Avoid relying on an unnecessarily long fixed sleep.
Image file contains JSON or HTML The API returned an error body or job response, not image bytes. Check the status and content type, read the provider’s error body, and follow its job retrieval flow if asynchronous.
Timeout or rate-limit response The page is slow, the request exceeds provider limits, or the service throttled the caller. Review the provider’s timeout and rate-limit documentation, reduce unnecessary captures, and use a bounded retry policy only for transient failures.

Performance, reliability, and cost

  • Wait only for what matters. A selector or suitable readiness state can avoid both premature captures and needless waiting, where the provider supports it.
  • Keep captures reproducible. Record the URL, viewport, format, wait condition, and capture time alongside the file if the screenshot is used for review or audit.
  • Plan for failures. A site can be unavailable, change markup, or block automation. Validate every response and image; use bounded retries for transient network errors, not for access denials or CAPTCHAs.
  • Compare total service fit. Check request limits, formats, full-page behavior, India-region availability, security, retention, and price directly with the provider. The cited documentation does not establish current prices, India-based rendering locations, retention terms, or universal bank compatibility.
  • Control data lifetime. Minimize retained copies, restrict access, and avoid sending sensitive content unless the authorization and processing arrangements are suitable.

FAQ

Can I screenshot a bank page just because the API can load it?

No. API capability and a successful render do not establish permission. Check the applicable bank terms, access restrictions, and authorization for the specific page and use.

Should I use a screenshot API for my bank statement?

Statements contain sensitive personal and financial data. Avoid sending them to a third-party renderer unless the capture is authorized and the provider’s security, retention, and processing arrangements have been approved.

Does this guide confirm that a specific Indian bank works with these APIs?

No. No live bank-page test was performed, and the cited documentation does not establish compatibility with every bank website.

Does API Setu’s policy apply to every bank website?

No. Its terms govern use of API Setu. They are cited here only as an example of explicit authorization and security expectations.
