How to Capture a LinkedIn Post Screenshot

Direct answer: Open the LinkedIn post, position it on screen, and use your device’s built-in screenshot shortcut. On iPhone, press Power plus Volume Up (or Home plus Power on Home-button models). On Android, press Power plus Volume Down, or hold Power and choose Screenshot. On Windows, press Windows logo key plus Shift plus S. On Mac, press Shift plus Command plus 3. LinkedIn’s instructions cover these controls, but menus can vary by device and software version. LinkedIn’s mobile screenshot guide and computer screenshot guide are the primary references.

Choose the right result first

What you need Best choice Reason
A static image for a report or message Device screenshot Fast and requires no extra software.
The original post someone can open Copy the post URL The recipient can view the live post, subject to its visibility.
Repeatable images of public posts Browser automation or ScreenshotNeo Useful for workflows, archives, and batch capture.

A screenshot is only an image. It does not change who can view the original post, and it may include names, profile photos, comments, or other identifying information. Check what you are sharing before publishing it.

iPhone: capture the post

  1. Open the LinkedIn post in the app or a browser.
  2. Scroll until the post is framed as you want it. Close overlays that would obscure the content.
  3. On an iPhone with Face ID, press and release Power and Volume Up together.
  4. On an iPhone with a Home button, press and release Home and Power together.
  5. A preview appears at the lower left. Tap it to edit or swipe it left to dismiss it.
  6. Find the saved image in the Photos app.

For a long post, take several screenshots or use the app’s scrolling capture options if your iOS version offers them. A single screenshot captures only the visible viewport.

Android: capture the post

  1. Open and position the LinkedIn post.
  2. Press Power and Volume Down together.
  3. If that shortcut does not work, press and hold Power for a few seconds, then tap Screenshot.
  4. Open the preview, crop or annotate if needed, and save it.
  5. Find the result in Google Photos, your phone’s Photos app, or Gallery.

Android controls differ by manufacturer. If neither method works, LinkedIn recommends checking the phone manufacturer’s support site. Some phones also provide a scrolling screenshot command after the first capture.

Windows: capture only the post

  1. Open the post in LinkedIn on your desktop browser.
  2. Press Windows logo key + Shift + S.
  3. Drag over the post, including the part you need.
  4. The selection is copied to the clipboard, and a notification opens Snipping Tool when selected.
  5. In Snipping Tool, choose Save as and select JPG or PNG.

Use a rectangular selection for a clean card. If the post extends below the viewport, take multiple captures and combine them in an image editor, or save the post URL instead.

Mac: capture the screen or a region

  1. Open and position the LinkedIn post.
  2. Press Shift + Command + 3 to capture the entire screen.
  3. LinkedIn’s help page says the screenshot is saved to the desktop.

For a selected region, use Shift + Command + 4, then drag around the post. This shortcut is a macOS feature; the exact save location can be changed in Screenshot options.

Copy the LinkedIn post URL instead

When the recipient should open the original post, a link is often more useful than an image.

  1. Open the post’s More menu.
  2. On desktop, choose Copy link to post.
  3. In the iOS app, choose Share via, then Copy.
  4. On Android, choose Share via, then Copy to clipboard.

LinkedIn describes this as a unique URL for the post. Whether another person can open it depends on the post’s visibility and profile settings. LinkedIn lists visibility options including Anyone, Connections only, and Group. Public sharing outside LinkedIn also depends on public-profile settings. See LinkedIn’s post URL instructions, visibility guidance, and public-sharing guidance.

How to make a readable capture

  • Zoom the page so the post text is legible, but keep the author and timestamp visible when they matter.
  • Dismiss cookie notices, chat bubbles, and unrelated browser panels before capturing.
  • Use a crop that preserves context without exposing unrelated private information.
  • For long text, capture overlapping sections so readers can follow the order.
  • Save as PNG for text-heavy posts and JPG when a smaller file is more important.
  • Keep the original URL beside the image so readers can verify the source.

Or skip the browser setup

For a publicly accessible LinkedIn post, ScreenshotNeo can return a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF from one GET request. Its capture flow accepts consent banners before the shot and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed; the response identifies the result with X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers. It also provides an MCP server with take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients.

Use the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for authentication and options.

LinkedIn may require sign-in or restrict a post to connections or a group. The API can send custom headers, cookies, a user agent, and an Authorization value when your authorized workflow requires them; do not use credentials you are not permitted to use. You can also set a viewport or device preset, wait for a selector or delay, hide selectors, block unwanted resources, choose full-page capture, or capture one element by CSS selector. Use caching with a TTL when the same public post is requested repeatedly.

ScreenshotNeo includes 1,000 screenshots per month free with no card. Paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots; every feature is available on every plan. Create a free ScreenshotNeo account.

Screenshot troubleshooting

Problem Likely cause Fix
The phone shortcut does nothing Wrong button combination or a manufacturer-specific layout Try the alternate Android method, check the iPhone model, or consult the manufacturer.
The image is blurry The post was zoomed out or the selected region is too small Increase page zoom, capture a larger region, and crop after saving.
The post is cut off Only the visible viewport was captured Take overlapping screenshots, use scrolling capture where available, or share the post URL.
The URL opens for you but not another person The post is limited to connections, a group, or another visibility setting Confirm visibility with the author or share an appropriately redacted image.
ScreenshotNeo returns a bot check or blank page The destination did not produce a usable page Inspect X-Page-Verdict, verify the URL is public, and adjust waits, headers, cookies, or user agent in the documented options.
The API request times out The page is slow or blocked Use the documented wait controls, reduce unnecessary resources, retry with backoff, and check the verdict headers.
The downloaded file is not an image The response is an error body or non-success result Check the HTTP status before writing the body and log response headers for diagnosis.

Performance, reliability, and cost notes

  • Local screenshots: are immediate and free, but manual and limited to what is visible on your screen.
  • Repeatability: use the same viewport, zoom, and crop rules for comparable captures.
  • Dynamic content: wait for the post or a specific selector before an automated capture.
  • Bandwidth: block ads, trackers, requests, or resource types when they are irrelevant to the image.
  • Retries: retry transient network failures, but do not treat a bot check or blank-page verdict as a successful capture.
  • Billing: ScreenshotNeo bills clean shots only. Failed loads, timeouts, bot checks, blank pages, and cache hits cost nothing, and each response reports billing status.
  • Batch work: ScreenshotNeo supports up to 100 URLs per bulk call, async jobs with signed webhooks, signed links for public <img> tags, a usage API, and an OpenAPI specification.

Does LinkedIn notify someone when you screenshot a post?

The official LinkedIn pages reviewed explain how to take screenshots and copy post links, but they do not state whether LinkedIn notifies a post author when someone screenshots an ordinary post. Do not rely on an unverified yes or no. If notification behavior matters, check LinkedIn’s current help material and the app version you use.

FAQ

Where does my screenshot go?

On iPhone, look in Photos. On Android, look in Photos or Gallery. Windows saves it wherever you choose in Snipping Tool. LinkedIn’s Mac instructions say the image is saved to the desktop.

Can I screenshot a private or connections-only post?

You can capture what you are allowed to view, but sharing the image may reveal information to people who cannot open the original. Treat the post’s visibility and any personal details as part of your sharing decision.

Send an image when the recipient needs a fixed record or visual reference. Send the post URL when they should read the live discussion and have permission to access it.

Can I capture a LinkedIn post as a PDF?

Use your operating system’s print-to-PDF option for a manual capture. ScreenshotNeo can return a PDF and supports paper size, margins, landscape mode, and page ranges.

Is there a LinkedIn screenshot button?

The reviewed LinkedIn help pages direct users to the built-in screenshot controls on their phone or computer rather than a LinkedIn-specific capture button.
