To clear Chrome browsing history on Android: open Chrome, tap the three-dot menu, choose Delete browsing data, select All time, check Browsing history, then tap Delete data. That removes the Chrome history list for the selected period. It does not automatically clear Google Account activity or YouTube history; those have separate controls.

Use the section below that matches the history you want to remove. Menu labels can vary slightly by Chrome version, Android version, and account settings.

1. Clear all Chrome browsing history

  1. Open the Chrome app on your Android phone or tablet.
  2. Tap More (the three-dot menu), then Delete browsing data. Depending on your Chrome layout, the menu may be at the top or near the bottom address bar.
  3. Choose All time from the time-range selector to delete the full available range.
  4. Select Browsing history. If your goal is only to remove the list of visited pages, leave cookies and cached files unchecked.
  5. Tap Delete data and confirm if prompted.

Chrome’s History list covers pages visited in the last 90 days. If you are signed into Chrome and history sync is enabled, Google says deleting Chrome browsing history also deletes it on signed-in devices where that history is synced to your Google Account. Google Chrome Help: check or delete browsing history on Android.

Delete only selected Chrome entries

  1. In Chrome, tap More > History.
  2. Find the page you want to remove and tap Remove beside it.
  3. To remove several entries, touch and hold one entry, select the others, then tap Remove.

This is useful when you want to remove a few pages without deleting the whole date range.

Choose the right data types

Option What it affects When to select it
Browsing history The visited-page list in Chrome. To remove the list of pages you visited.
Cookies and site data Site sessions and stored preferences. When you also want to clear site data. You may need to sign in to sites again.
Cached images and files Locally saved page resources. When troubleshooting loading or formatting problems, or when you want Chrome to fetch resources again.

Clearing cookies or cache is optional when deleting browsing history. Select only what you need to avoid changing site behavior unnecessarily. Google Account Help: clear cache and cookies on Android.

2. Clear Google Account activity

Chrome’s on-device browsing history and activity saved to your Google Account are separate stores. Depending on your settings, your account can save Search-related activity, Chrome history and activity from sites, apps, and devices using Google services, and YouTube History.

  1. Open Android Settings and tap your name or Google account. You can also open the Google app and tap your profile picture.
  2. Choose Manage your Google Account, then open Data & privacy.
  3. Find the relevant history setting and review what is being saved. Use the setting’s controls to turn future saving on or off.
  4. To remove activity already saved, open My Activity, review the items, and use its delete controls for the activity or date range you want to remove.

Google is rolling out changes to Search activity controls. If the expected Search setting does not appear, Google says Web & App Activity may still control Search-services history and personalized recommendations. Follow the labels shown for your account. Google Account Help: control activity saved to your account and access and control account activity.

Deleting activity from My Activity does not guarantee every browser record is removed: Google notes that some activity may remain in the browser and some activity is not included in My Activity. Deleting an account starts a removal process, and Google may retain some data for limited business or legal purposes. Google Legal Help: delete your activity.

3. Clear YouTube watch or search history

When signed in

  1. Open the YouTube app and tap your profile picture.
  2. Tap Settings > Manage all history.
  3. Delete individual videos or searches, or use the controls to delete activity for a selected period.
  4. To stop future recording, open the Controls tab and turn off the option for watched videos or searches, as needed.

For a selected period, deleting watch history also deletes search history for that period, and deleting search history also deletes watch history for that period. Deleting watch history changes future recommendations based on that content; pausing it prevents newly watched videos from being added. Clearing search history removes past searches from search-box suggestions. YouTube Help: watch history on Android and YouTube Help: search history.

When signed out

In YouTube, open Settings > History & privacy to clear or pause watch history. The available controls depend on whether you are signed in.

4. Check what you have cleared

  • Only the Chrome visited-page list: clear Chrome’s Browsing history and leave other types unchecked.
  • Activity saved to your Google Account: review the relevant Data & privacy setting and delete saved items in My Activity.
  • YouTube searches or watched videos: use YouTube’s Manage all history or History & privacy controls.
  • Site sessions or stored page resources: optionally clear cookies/site data or cached files, understanding that this can affect sign-ins or cause resources to reload.

Clearing one store does not necessarily clear the others. Chrome sync can propagate Chrome history deletion to signed-in devices with history sync enabled, but that does not make Chrome clearing a substitute for account activity or YouTube controls.

5. Troubleshooting

Problem Likely cause What to do
Some visited pages still appear. The time range was narrower than intended, or the entries are in another history store. In Chrome, repeat the steps with All time and Browsing history selected. Check Google Account activity separately if needed.
History is still visible on another device. The device may not be signed into the same Chrome account, sync may be off, or it may not have updated yet. Check the Chrome account and history-sync setting on each device. Google documents synced deletion for devices signed into Chrome with history sync enabled.
The Google Account history control is missing or named differently. Settings can vary, and Search-related controls are rolling out gradually. Open Manage your Google Account > Data & privacy, review Web & App Activity, and use My Activity for saved records.
A website signs you out after clearing data. Cookies and site data were cleared along with history. Sign in again. Next time, leave cookies and site data unchecked if you only need to remove the Chrome history list.
YouTube recommendations or suggestions changed. Watch or search history was deleted or paused. Review YouTube’s history controls. Deleted watch activity will not inform future recommendations, and deleted searches no longer appear as past search suggestions.
The Delete data button did not remove a particular entry. The item may be account activity or YouTube history rather than Chrome browsing history. Identify where the activity was recorded, then delete it in that service’s controls.

6. Or skip the browser setup

If your actual task is capturing a clean website screenshot after clearing or reviewing site history, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server from Yorker Media. A single GET request returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. This does not clear Android history; it captures a webpage.

cURL:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

Python:

import requests

r = requests.get(
    "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot",
    params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"},
    timeout=90,
)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)

Node.js:

const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
if (!res.ok) throw new Error(`Screenshot request failed: ${res.status}`);
await Bun.write('shot.webp', res);

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options and response details. Cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed; an MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. 7. Frequently asked questions

Does clearing Chrome history delete my Google searches?

It deletes Chrome’s browsing-history list. Search activity saved to your Google Account has separate activity controls, so review and delete it in Data & privacy or My Activity too.

Will clearing history remove saved passwords?

Browsing history is a separate data type from saved passwords. In Chrome’s delete-data screen, review the selected types before confirming and avoid selecting anything you do not intend to remove.

Can I clear only one site from Chrome history?

Yes. Open More > History, find the entry, and tap Remove. You can select multiple entries before removing them.
