How to Get Etsy Restock Notifications

Request an Etsy restock email from an eligible sold-out listing. Learn when the alert appears, how sold-out variations work, and what to try if you don’t see it.

To get an Etsy restock notification, open the sold-out listing and select “Let me know when it’s back” if Etsy shows that option. Etsy sends an email when the subscribed item is restocked. The feature is available when the seller has Etsy Plus and has enabled restock requests for that listing. Etsy Help: Restock Requests.

Request an alert for a sold-out Etsy item

  1. Open the listing for the item marked sold out. You can use its direct link or find it on the seller’s Sold Items page.
  2. Look for “Let me know when it’s back”.
  3. Select the option to request an email alert. Etsy will notify you by email if the seller restocks the item.

Etsy documents this signup on desktop and mobile web. If the alert control is missing, see why it may not appear.

Restock alerts for a specific variation

Some listings have multiple sizes, colors, or other variations. If only one is sold out, select the relevant variation. When Etsy shows “Sold out, waitlist available”, request the alert for that specific variation. The notification signup applies to the item or variation Etsy offers; it does not guarantee that every variation in the listing will return.

Why the restock option may be missing

The seller controls whether restock requests are available. Etsy says the seller must subscribe to Etsy Plus and enable restock requests for the listing. They can turn the option on for an individual listing or manage it in bulk through Shop Manager.

Etsy also says inventory must be depleted through sales; sellers cannot manually mark a listing as sold out. That means the alert may not be available for every unavailable or inactive listing. If you do not see the control, check that you are viewing the sold-out listing itself and that you have selected the sold-out variation, if applicable. If it is still absent, contact the seller to ask whether they expect to restock or can make a similar item.

Favorites do not sign you up for an alert

You can keep a sold-out item in your favorites or collections, but saving it is not the documented restock-notification signup. To request an email, use the listing’s explicit “Let me know when it’s back” control when Etsy offers it. Etsy’s guide to keeping track of items and shops covers favorites and collections; it does not describe favoriting as enrollment in a restock alert.

Troubleshooting

What you see Likely reason What to try
No “Let me know when it’s back” option The seller may not have Etsy Plus or may not have enabled restock requests for this listing. Check the exact sold-out listing and selected variation. Ask the seller about a restock or similar item if the control remains unavailable.
A variation says “Sold out,” but there is no waitlist The alert may not be enabled for that variation or listing. Select the specific variation and look for “Sold out, waitlist available.” If it is not shown, contact the seller.
You favorited the item but received no alert Favorites preserve an item; they are not the restock-alert signup. Return to the listing and use the explicit alert control if it is available.
You cannot find the alert in the app Etsy’s help page documents buyer signup on desktop and mobile web. Open Etsy in a desktop or mobile web browser and check the listing there.

For developers: capture a listing page

If you are documenting an Etsy listing or building a visual record for your own workflow, a screenshot captures what the page displays at that moment. It does not enroll you in a restock email, monitor inventory, or replace Etsy’s alert. Follow Etsy’s terms and applicable access rules when automating page access.

A manual browser capture is enough for an occasional page: open the listing, wait for it to render, then use your browser’s screenshot command or a browser automation tool. For repeatable captures, a screenshot API can accept a URL and return an image or PDF. ScreenshotNeo is the publisher’s screenshot API and MCP server for developers: ScreenshotNeo. It supports a single GET request for a URL and offers PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF output. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation.

Or skip the browser setup

Send one GET request with the listing URL and your API key:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://www.etsy.com/listing/123456789/example -o shot.webp

Replace the example listing URL with the page you want to capture. ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie and consent banners like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks, CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers report the page verdict and whether the request was billed. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for AI agents. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots. Every feature is available on every plan.
