How to Export Browse AI Results to Google Sheets
Sync Browse AI results to Google Sheets automatically, or import a one-time CSV or JSON export. Follow the setup steps and fixes for missing rows.
To keep a Google Sheet updated, connect the Browse AI robot to Google Sheets from the robot’s Integrate tab, authorize the Google account, choose a spreadsheet and sync scope, then run the task. Browse AI appends newly captured data on later task runs or monitoring checks. For a one-time transfer, export CSV from the robot’s Table and import it in Google Sheets.
Choose a transfer method
| Method | Best for | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Google Sheets integration | Recurring task runs or monitoring checks | Newly captured data is appended to the connected spreadsheet. |
| CSV export and import | A one-time spreadsheet copy or a manually refreshed report | Download a CSV, then import it into Google Sheets. |
| JSON export | Programmatic processing or preserving nested data relationships | Download structured data, then transform it if you need flat spreadsheet rows. |
Use the integration for recurring updates. Use CSV for a straightforward manual spreadsheet import. Choose JSON when you need nested relationships or will process the export in code. Set up automatic syncing to Google Sheets
- Open the Browse AI dashboard and select the robot whose results you want to sync.
- Open the robot’s Integrate tab and choose Google Sheets.
- Select Enable Syncing to Google Sheet.
- Authorize the Google account that should access the destination spreadsheet.
- Select an existing spreadsheet or create a new one. For an existing spreadsheet, the authorized account needs Edit access.
- Choose the data scope: changed or added data, only changed data, or only added data.
- Open the robot’s Overview tab and run the task to start the sync. Check the destination spreadsheet for a new worksheet.
Once connected, later task runs and monitoring checks append newly captured data. Browse AI’s help guide describes the behavior this way: “Every time you run your task or it runs to do a monitoring check, it will append the newly captured data to your Google Sheet.” [Source](https://help.browse.ai/en/articles/10535898-how-to-sync-scraped-data-with-google-sheets)
Pick the right sync scope
- Changed or added data: choose this when the sheet should receive both new records and updated records.
- Only changed data: choose this when the destination should focus on updates to existing captured data.
- Only added data: choose this when you only want new captures sent.
Plan for the sheet to grow as runs append data. If you reconnect another robot to a spreadsheet that is already integrated, Browse AI places that robot’s information on a fresh worksheet in the same spreadsheet.
Export once and import a CSV
- Open the robot’s Table and select the tab containing the data you need.
- Set the view before exporting. Filters, hidden columns, and whether you are viewing the latest run or historical data affect the export.
- Click Export, review the export summary, choose CSV, and download.
- In Google Sheets, open File > Import and select the CSV file.
- Choose the import destination, such as a new spreadsheet or a new sheet in an existing spreadsheet. Let Sheets detect the separator automatically, and decide whether text should be converted to numbers or dates.
- Review the imported columns and values before using formulas, charts, or reports.
When you export from the Main tab, Browse AI provides a ZIP containing Main.csv and one CSV per list tab. Exporting a specific list tab gives you one file for that tab. For the Main tab, JSON instead produces one file containing the data and its nested relationships. [Table export details](https://help.browse.ai/en/articles/10593816-how-to-export-data-from-tables) · [CSV import instructions](https://help.browse.ai/en/articles/13179437-how-to-export-your-data-as-a-csv)
Make sure the export contains the rows and columns you expect
The export follows the configured Table view. Before downloading, check filters, visible columns, and the setting for latest data versus historical data. If you need a complete dataset, clear restrictive filters and confirm that the historical-data view matches your intent. You can export the Main tab for the full dataset or a particular list tab for a focused file.
When JSON is a better starting point
JSON can preserve nested list relationships and metadata that do not fit neatly into a flat CSV. In Browse AI’s export flow, select the Table or list tab, configure the view, click Export, choose JSON, and download. A Main-tab JSON export includes nested list data in one file, so it may be large; exporting a specific list tab can make the file more focused.
Browse AI exports scraped values as strings. A price may appear as "$99.99", not a numeric value. If you import or transform JSON for analysis, parse and normalize values before doing arithmetic. For nested data, flatten the structure into rows and columns before placing it in a conventional spreadsheet. If your workflow also needs a website screenshot, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. One GET request can return an image or PDF; see the API documentation.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
import requests
r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
Cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot. Bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed. An MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up for 1,000 free screenshots a month.
Troubleshooting missing or incorrect data
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The spreadsheet looks empty after enabling sync. | The integration has not received a run since setup, or you are looking at the wrong worksheet. | Run the robot again after enabling the integration, then check the newly created worksheet in the selected spreadsheet. |
| The existing spreadsheet cannot be selected or updated. | The Google account authorized in Browse AI does not have sufficient access. | Give that account Edit access to the spreadsheet, then reconnect or retry the integration. |
| Some expected rows or columns are missing from a downloaded file. | Table filters, hidden columns, or the latest-versus-historical view limited the export. | Adjust the Table view and export again. The visible/configured view determines what is exported. |
| Data from a second robot appears in a different worksheet. | Browse AI places another connected robot’s information on a fresh worksheet in the same spreadsheet. | Check the worksheet tabs for the robot’s data. |
| Numbers or dates behave like text after CSV import. | Values may be strings, or the import settings and spreadsheet locale may not match their format. | During import, choose whether text should convert to numbers or dates. Check formatting and regional settings; clean currency symbols or spaces before calculations. |
| Special characters look corrupted in a CSV. | The file may have been opened with the wrong encoding or import settings. | Import through File > Import and use UTF-8 where an encoding choice is available. |
| The JSON export is too large or difficult to use as rows. | A Main-tab export includes nested data from all lists. | Export an individual list tab, apply a narrower view, or flatten the nested structure before importing. |
Browse AI’s sync guide notes improved reliability for field mapping with autogenerated columns and duplicate field names, but it does not provide a measured error rate. If mapped fields still look wrong, inspect the destination worksheet and the robot’s field names, then rerun after confirming the integration and view settings.
Performance, reliability, and cost considerations
- Recurring freshness: sync runs when the task runs or a monitoring check runs. Your update cadence therefore follows the robot’s run schedule.
- Append behavior: the documented workflow appends newly captured data on later runs. Select a sync scope that matches whether you want additions, changes, or both.
- Large exports: Main-tab JSON contains nested list data and may be large. A focused list export or narrower view can reduce the data you need to handle.
- Data types: scraped values may be strings, including currency and other formatted values. Normalize types before calculations or sorting that assumes numeric/date values.
- Access and destination: use an authorized Google account with Edit access for an existing destination, and verify the worksheet created for the robot.
- Cost: the cited Browse AI export and integration guides do not state pricing for this workflow. Check your Browse AI plan for any account-specific limits before setting up recurring runs.
FAQ
Will enabling the integration backfill runs that happened earlier?
The guide recommends running the task after enabling the integration if the sheet is empty. Do not assume pre-integration runs have synced; run the robot again.
Can more than one robot use the same spreadsheet?
Yes. The guide says a newly connected robot’s information appears on a fresh worksheet in the spreadsheet already integrated.
Should I choose CSV or JSON for a normal Google Sheets workflow?
Choose CSV for a direct, tabular import. Choose JSON when preserving nested relationships or processing data programmatically matters.
Does a manual export update automatically later?
No. A downloaded file is a snapshot. For recurring updates, configure the Google Sheets integration.
