How to Export a GoFullPage Capture as a PNG or JPEG

Save a GoFullPage capture as a PNG or JPEG, choose the image format, and troubleshoot common download and full-page capture problems.

To export a GoFullPage capture as a PNG or JPEG, capture the page, then use the image download action in the capture view. GoFullPage advertises PNG and JPG downloads, and its image format can be configured in the extension’s Options. A plain image download is available in the free version; Premium is relevant if you edit or annotate the capture and want to download the edited result.

Export a capture as an image

  1. Open the webpage you want to capture. Close pop-ups or information bars, scroll through the page, and give its content time to load. These steps can improve the capture, especially when a page loads content as you scroll.
  2. Start a GoFullPage capture. The extension scrolls through the page and assembles the visible sections into a capture that opens in a new tab.
  3. If you need to choose PNG or JPG, open GoFullPage’s Options and check the image-format setting. The official documentation confirms that the setting exists; the exact menu labels may change, so follow the current interface.
  4. In the capture view, select the image download action and save the file. If the current interface differs, use its visible download control.

GoFullPage’s official site advertises PNG and JPG exports, and its FAQ says image downloads are available in the free version. See the GoFullPage homepage and official FAQ.

PNG or JPEG: which should you choose?

Both formats work for ordinary screenshots. Choose based on how you will use the file:

Format Good fit Keep in mind
PNG Text, diagrams, interface details, or screenshots you may edit later. Files can be larger than JPEGs.
JPEG (often shown as JPG) Sharing a screenshot where a smaller file is useful. Compression can soften fine text and edges.

GoFullPage’s format setting is in Options. The available documentation confirms the setting but does not establish the latest exact menu sequence or every label, so use the current extension interface rather than relying on an old walkthrough’s button names.

Saving, permissions, and resolution

An older GoFullPage walkthrough documents saving through the right-click menu’s Save Image As… action, and the keyboard shortcuts Ctrl+S on Windows or Cmd+S on Mac. Those shortcuts may vary with the current interface; use the visible image download control if they do not work. See the official right-click menu walkthrough.

If GoFullPage asks for the browser’s Downloads permission, allow it to save the image. Its permission guide says the extension can still copy an image without this permission, but its save and download controls require it. See GoFullPage’s permissions guide.

A capture that looks tiny in the new tab may only be zoomed out in the preview. GoFullPage’s FAQ says the downloaded file remains full resolution. Click the preview to toggle its zoom if you need to inspect details.

Large pages and other capture limits

Very long pages can exceed what the browser can assemble into one image. GoFullPage says an extremely large capture may appear blank or split into multiple images; those parts can be viewed and downloaded separately. It also cautions that very large sets of images—10 or more—may not complete. If the target is a PDF document displayed in the browser, GoFullPage says the extension cannot access it to scroll and capture it like a normal webpage. Consult the official FAQ for these limitations.

If you export a capture as a PDF instead of an image, GoFullPage’s FAQ says its “full image” PDF size setting makes the capture a single page. That is a separate export choice from PNG or JPEG.

Troubleshooting

Problem Likely cause What to do
The image preview looks very small. The preview is zoomed out. Click the preview to toggle zoom. The downloaded image should remain full resolution, according to GoFullPage’s FAQ.
The download action does not save a file. The extension may not have Downloads permission. Allow the permission in the browser when prompted, then try the download control again. Copying may still work without permission, but saving through the extension requires it.
The capture is blank or split into pieces. The page may be too large for the browser to assemble as one image. Download the available parts separately. For a more reliable result, capture a smaller page area or use an alternative capture method.
A very large capture does not finish. GoFullPage says very large sets of images, such as 10 or more, may not complete. Reduce the capture’s scope or capture sections separately.
A PDF in the browser is not captured as a scrolling page. GoFullPage says it cannot access PDF documents like ordinary webpages. Use the PDF viewer’s own save or export options instead.
The resulting page is missing content. Content may load only after scrolling, or pop-ups and information bars may cover it. Close overlays, scroll through the page, and wait for content to load before starting the capture.

For current installation availability, use the browser-store links on GoFullPage’s own site. The vendor reported a Chrome storefront disruption in August 2026 and published a restoration announcement on September 14, 2026; older search results may not reflect current availability. See its Chrome update and restoration announcement.

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. A single GET request returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. For example, save a page as WebP with cURL:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for the request options and formats. ScreenshotNeo removes cookie banners, pop-ups, and chat widgets before capture; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed. Its MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card, and paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots. Sign up for free and get 1,000 screenshots a month with no card.

FAQ

Do I need GoFullPage Premium to download a PNG or JPEG?

No. GoFullPage says plain image downloads are available in the free version. Premium is for downloading an edited or annotated result.

Does the small preview mean the downloaded image is low resolution?

No. GoFullPage’s FAQ says the preview may be zoomed out while the downloaded image remains full resolution.

Can GoFullPage capture a PDF opened in the browser?

Its FAQ says it cannot access browser PDF documents to scroll and capture them like ordinary webpages. Use the PDF viewer’s export options instead.

Can I download a huge page as one image?

Not always. Very large captures can exceed browser limits and may be split into parts or fail to complete. Capture smaller sections when necessary.
