How to Export Visualping Screenshot History for a Monitored Website
Download a screenshot from a Visualping change or export a report for selected monitors and dates. Learn what each method includes and how to archive changes.
To save Visualping screenshot history, download an individual screenshot from its change view, or create a report for selected monitors and a date range and download that report. Reports can be exported as CSV, Excel, HTML (shown as WEB in some scheduled email links), or PDF from the web report. Visualping’s documentation describes these options and individual screenshot downloads, but does not establish a built-in bulk download of every original historical screenshot as image files or a universal screenshot retention period.
Keep this separate from Export job settings data: that exports monitor configuration and metadata to CSV or Excel, not screenshot history, and Visualping documents it as a Business feature.
Choose the right export method
| Need | Use | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| One visual record of a change | Download from the change or alert view | An individual screenshot, opened in a new tab or downloaded |
| A set of changes for a period or group of monitors | Generate or open a report | A report in CSV, Excel, HTML/WEB, or PDF format |
| Monitor configuration details | Export job settings data | Selected metadata such as URLs, descriptions, comparison types, and frequencies; not screenshots |
| A custom automated archive | Configure a webhook and your own receiving endpoint | Structured change data with links to screenshots and HTML snapshots |

Download a screenshot from one change
- Open the relevant Visualping alert or change.
- In the visual comparison view, click the screenshot. It opens in a new tab or can be downloaded, depending on your browser and the available control.
- Save it with a descriptive filename, for example
example-com-2026-10-04-change.png, and keep it in your own archive if it is important evidence.
The view lets you compare the current and previous screenshots. Save the image you need and make a note of the monitor and change date; a local copy is easier to organize and retrieve independently later.
Create and download a report
- Open the report creation workflow and choose the monitors and date period you need. The documented filters include monitor labels, page status, frequency, schedule type, and which checks to include.
- Choose the report contents. Depending on the purpose, include current and previous snapshots and markup, and choose important changes, all changes, all checks, or errors.
- Generate or open the report and use its download control to choose an available format: CSV, Excel, HTML, or PDF. PDF is available from the web report.
- For a report created earlier, open the History tab, find it by name or date, and re-export it. Scheduled report emails also include download links; HTML may be labeled WEB.
A report is useful for preserving a set of changes together with their context. It should not be treated as proof that every original screenshot from the monitor’s lifetime has been exported as a standalone image.
Do not confuse screenshot history with job settings
The separate Export job settings data action exports selected monitor attributes, such as descriptions, URLs, comparison types, and frequencies, to CSV or Excel. Visualping documents this feature for Business users. It exports settings data; it is not a screenshot archive. The documented Business restriction applies to this job-settings export, so do not assume it also applies to report or individual screenshot downloads.
Automate a custom archive with webhooks
If you need a workflow that stores change records in your own system, Visualping webhooks can send structured change payloads with monitor context, a timestamp, and links to original/current screenshots and HTML snapshots. You need to configure a receiving endpoint or integration to process and store those payloads. This is a custom automation path, not a built-in bulk history-download button.
For long-term access, store the files or webhook-linked snapshots in a system you control and verify that your process actually retrieves and retains them. The reviewed Visualping documentation does not specify a universal retention duration or guarantee access to every historic original screenshot.
Verify the archive you need
- For a single important change, download its screenshot from the visual view.
- For a time-bounded set of activity, generate a report with the desired monitors, period, checks, and snapshot context.
- For a recurring custom workflow, test webhook delivery and confirm that your endpoint saves the linked artifacts.
- If your requirement is every original screenshot as an image, or a specific retention period, ask Visualping support to confirm what is available for your account before relying on it.
Troubleshooting
I can’t find a download control for an individual screenshot
Open the change or alert’s visual view and click the screenshot; the documented behavior is that it opens in a new tab or can be downloaded. Browser behavior may differ. If a new tab opens, use the browser’s save or download controls.
The report I downloaded does not contain the images I expected
Check the report contents and selected checks before generating it. Reports can be configured for different change/check sets and snapshot context. A report export is not documented as a bulk archive of all original image files.
I cannot find a report I created earlier
Look in the History tab and search by report name or date. Scheduled report emails may also contain download links; check whether the HTML option is labeled WEB.
The export contains URLs and frequencies, not screenshots
You used the job-settings data export. That action exports monitor metadata. Open an alert to save an individual screenshot, or use the report workflow for a collection of changes.
A webhook payload arrived, but my archive has no screenshot file
The webhook provides links in its structured payload. Your receiving integration must retrieve and store the linked screenshot or HTML snapshot if you need a durable copy; receiving the event alone is not the same as saving the files.
Performance, reliability, and storage considerations
For a small number of changes, manual image downloads are straightforward. For many monitors or a range of activity, a filtered report is more practical to review and share. Webhooks suit recurring custom storage, but add an integration that must handle delivery, retrieve linked content, and record enough monitor and timestamp context to make files searchable.
Keep a local or managed copy of evidence you cannot afford to lose. The Visualping documentation reviewed here does not state a universal retention period or confirm a complete bulk original-image export. Confirm account-specific availability with Visualping if those details are requirements.
Or skip the browser setup
For new captures, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server from ScreenshotNeo. One GET request returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. It captures pages on demand; it does not export Visualping’s existing screenshot history.
cURL:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
Python:
import requests
r = requests.get(
"https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot",
params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"},
timeout=90,
)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
Node.js:
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
if (!res.ok) throw new Error(`Screenshot request failed: ${res.status}`);
await Bun.write('shot.webp', res);
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. Cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets are removed before capture; each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks/CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and responses identify the page verdict and billing status in headers. ScreenshotNeo also provides an MCP server so AI agents can take screenshots. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots. These are new captures, not a migration or export of Visualping history. Create a free ScreenshotNeo account.
FAQ
Can I export all Visualping screenshot history at once?
The reviewed documentation does not establish a complete bulk download of every original screenshot. It documents individual screenshot downloads, report exports, and webhook-based custom workflows.
Can I reopen and download an old report?
Yes. Reports can be found in the History tab and re-exported; scheduled report emails also provide download links.
Does a report export replace an image archive?
No. Reports package selected changes and context in supported report formats. For original image files, download screenshots individually or build a webhook workflow that retrieves and stores linked snapshots.
How long are screenshots retained?
The documentation reviewed does not specify a universal retention period. Confirm the behavior for your account with Visualping support if retention affects your process.
