How to Screenshot a Long Bengali Webpage in Firefox Without Cutting Off Text
Capture a long Bengali webpage in Firefox, check that text renders correctly, and troubleshoot missing content with Developer Tools or PDF export.
Use Firefox’s built-in screenshot tool: open the page, make sure its Bengali text looks correct on screen, press Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows or Linux (or Command+Shift+S on macOS), choose Save full page, then select Download. Firefox saves a PNG in its default downloads folder. If the Bengali text is already broken in the browser, fix or verify the font rendering first: a screenshot records what Firefox displays; it cannot repair missing glyphs or change the page’s layout. Mozilla’s Firefox screenshot guide documents these steps.
1. Capture the whole page with Firefox Screenshots
- Open the webpage and wait for its visible content to settle. Scroll through it once if important sections may load only as you approach them. This is a practical check, not a guarantee that every dynamic page will load all content.
- Inspect Bengali characters on screen, especially conjuncts and vowel marks. If they look correct, continue. If characters are missing, separated, or replaced by boxes, see the Bengali rendering checks before capturing.
- Open Firefox Screenshots by right-clicking an empty part of the page and selecting Take Screenshot, or use the keyboard shortcut for your operating system.
- Choose Save full page in the screenshot interface, then choose Download to save the image. Firefox’s default download location is used. Select Copy instead if you want the image on your clipboard.
- Open the downloaded PNG and inspect the top, middle, and bottom. Check that the last paragraph and any Bengali lines are present and legible at the size you intend to view or share.
The screenshot shortcut opens the capture interface; it does not automatically save a full-page image. You still need to select Save full page and then download or copy it. The tool can also capture the visible area, a selected region, or a page element. See Firefox Screenshots options.
2. Check Bengali text before capturing
A full-page screenshot preserves Firefox’s rendered appearance. If Bengali text is malformed or too small before capture, the same problem will appear in the image. Firefox provides font settings organized by language or script, as well as a minimum web-page font size. These settings are a troubleshooting route, not a guaranteed fix for every site.
Review the font settings
- Open Firefox Settings and find the Fonts controls. The exact surrounding section can vary by Firefox version.
- Open Advanced font settings and inspect the language/script selection. Mozilla says a script that is not listed can be configured under Other Writing Systems.
- Check the font choices for proportional, serif, sans-serif, and monospace text as relevant. You can also set a minimum web-page font size if the text is too small.
- If you change settings, return to the page and check its Bengali rendering again before taking a new screenshot. Changing font preferences can alter the page’s appearance; inspect the result rather than assuming it fixed the issue.
Mozilla documents these controls in Change the fonts and colors websites use. If only one website is affected, the site’s own font or stylesheet may be involved; the available evidence here does not identify the cause for a particular page.
3. Use Firefox Developer Tools if the built-in capture misses content
Firefox Developer Tools provide a full-page screenshot button and a Web Console :screenshot helper. These are useful fallbacks when you need a delay, a named output file, a device-pixel-ratio setting, or a capture of a single selected element. The command options below are documented by Firefox Source Docs.
Enable the full-page screenshot button
- Open Developer Tools and open its settings.
- Under Available Toolbox Buttons, enable Take a screenshot of the entire page.
- Use the screenshot button to save the full-page capture. Firefox saves the capture to the browser’s Downloads directory.
Run a Web Console screenshot command
Open the Web Console for the page and enter a command such as:
:screenshot bengali-page.png --fullpage
To wait briefly before capture, include a delay in seconds:
:screenshot bengali-page.png --fullpage --delay 2
For a single element, pass a CSS selector. For example, this captures an element with the ID article:
:screenshot article.png --selector "#article"
Available documented options include:
| Option | What it does | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
--fullpage |
Includes the page outside the current window bounds. | Use for the whole document rather than only the visible viewport. |
--delay |
Waits a specified number of seconds before capture; integer or fractional values are documented. | Use when an animation or visible content still needs time to render. |
--selector |
Captures the selected element and its descendants. | Use for an article container or another specific page element. |
--filename |
Sets the output filename; the documented filename should use a .png extension. |
Use to give the capture a predictable name. |
--dpr |
Sets the device pixel ratio for the capture. | Use when you need to adjust output pixel density; inspect the resulting size and legibility. |
--file |
Forces saving to a file, including when another output option is present. | Use when combining options and you need a saved file. |
For example, a named full-page capture with a short wait can be requested with :screenshot bengali-page.png --fullpage --delay 1.5. Use a delay only when the page is still rendering. It does not force a site to load content, fix broken Bengali fonts, or guarantee that content inside a nested scrolling panel appears in the full-page image. Check the output. The Developer Tools documentation also notes that saving again to the same filename overwrites the earlier image.
4. Understand what “cut off” means
- The capture ends before the bottom of the article: confirm that you chose Save full page, rather than Save visible. Try the Developer Tools full-page capture if needed.
- The bottom is present but Bengali marks or characters look wrong: inspect the page itself and review Firefox’s script-specific font controls. A capture cannot correct text that Firefox rendered incorrectly.
- Content is missing from a panel that scrolls separately: the panel may have its own scroll area. The cited documentation does not guarantee that full-page capture will include every nested scrolling region. Try capturing the panel as an element with
--selector, scroll the panel and take separate captures, or use another output approach. - Images or text appear only after scrolling: scroll through the page, allow visible sections to settle, then capture and inspect. A delay can wait before capture, but it does not ensure that lazy-loaded content was triggered.
- The image is too large to read comfortably: zoom in when viewing, or choose PDF if you need paginated reading or printing. A long screenshot remains one tall image.
5. Save a PDF when a tall image is the wrong format
For reading, printing, or sharing a long article, Firefox’s print preview can save a PDF. Open the browser menu and select Print, then choose Save to PDF as the destination. Review the preview before saving. Options can include paper size, scale, pages per sheet, margins, orientation, headers and footers, and background printing. Webpages may be laid out differently for paper than they are on screen, so check Bengali shaping, page breaks, and the final pages. See Mozilla’s Firefox printing guide.
A PDF is a paginated document, not a full-page screenshot. Choose it when page-by-page reading or printing matters; choose PNG when you need one visual image of the rendered page.
6. Common problems and fixes
| Problem | Likely cause | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| Only the visible portion was saved | Save visible was selected. | Repeat the capture and select Save full page, or use :screenshot name.png --fullpage. |
| Bengali text is broken in the image and on the page | The issue is present in Firefox’s rendering, not caused by screenshot cropping. | Review the script-specific font settings, including Other Writing Systems, then inspect the page again. |
| Text is present but difficult to read | The page uses small text or the very tall image is viewed at a reduced scale. | Check Firefox’s minimum font size and page zoom; inspect the capture at a useful magnification. Remember that font changes affect appearance. |
| Some content is absent after capture | It may be dynamically loaded or inside a nested scroll area. | Scroll through the page first, wait for visible content to settle, or capture a specific element. Verify the result; no cited route guarantees every dynamic layout. |
| Screenshot button is not available in Developer Tools | The toolbox button may not be enabled. | In Developer Tools settings, enable Take a screenshot of the entire page under Available Toolbox Buttons. |
| A later capture replaced an earlier one | The same filename was reused. | Choose a different filename for each capture. |
| Printed PDF differs from the webpage | The site may use a print layout that differs from its screen layout. | Adjust print preview settings and review the PDF’s page breaks and text before sharing. |
7. Or skip the browser setup
For an automated capture, ScreenshotNeo provides a website screenshot API: send a GET request with the URL and save the returned image. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://example.com -o shot.webp
import requests
r = requests.get(
"https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot",
params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://example.com"},
timeout=90,
)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://example.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
if (!res.ok) throw new Error(`Screenshot request failed: ${res.status}`);
await Bun.write('shot.webp', res);
Replace https://example.com with the page URL and YOUR_API_KEY with your key. ScreenshotNeo removes cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; bot checks, blank pages, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed. Its MCP server lets AI agents use screenshot tools. The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots. Visit ScreenshotNeo to see the service, or sign up for 1,000 free screenshots a month with no card.
FAQ
Does the Firefox screenshot shortcut save a full-page image immediately?
No. It opens the screenshot interface; select Save full page and then download or copy the capture.
Can a screenshot fix Bengali characters that already look wrong?
No. It records the browser’s rendering. Check the page and font settings before capture.
Should I use PNG or PDF?
Use PNG for one visual image of the whole page. Use PDF for paginated reading or printing, and inspect its preview because print layout can differ.
Will a delay make every dynamic page complete?
No. A delay waits before capture; it does not guarantee that lazy content or nested scrolling areas have loaded. Inspect the output.
