How to Export a Webpage to PDF in Firefox Without Cutting Off Tables

Save a Firefox webpage as a PDF and keep wide tables in view. Adjust orientation, scale, paper size, and margins using the print preview.

To export a webpage as a PDF in Firefox without cutting off a wide table, open Print…, choose Save to PDF, then use the print preview to adjust Orientation, Scale, Paper size, and Margins. Save only when the preview shows the table within the page. There is no scale value that works for every table: check the preview after each change.

Save the Firefox webpage as a PDF

  1. Open the webpage in Firefox and choose Print… from the Firefox menu.
  2. In the print dialog, set Destination to Save to PDF.
  3. Inspect the preview, especially the right edge of the table and any columns that wrap or disappear.
  4. If the table is clipped, expand More settings and adjust the fit options below.
  5. Once the preview shows all the columns you need, save the PDF and open it to confirm the result.

Firefox’s print workflow and these settings are documented in Mozilla’s guide to printing web pages. Page appearance can differ between screen and paper, so the preview matters.

Fit a wide table on the PDF page

Setting When to try it Trade-off
Orientation: Landscape The table has many columns and needs more horizontal room. The page is wider, but has less vertical room.
Scale Landscape alone still leaves part of the table outside the page. A smaller scale can fit more width, but text and cells become smaller. Choose by preview; there is no universal percentage.
Paper size The selected paper size is too narrow for the content. A larger page may fit the table, but may not suit the intended printer or document format.
Margins Large margins are reducing the usable width. Smaller margins create more printable area. Keep enough space for readable and usable output.
Format: Simplified You want to inspect a simpler presentation, if this option is available. It is not a documented table-clipping fix. Mozilla notes that Simplified disables Print backgrounds.

Change one setting at a time and check the preview. This makes it easier to see which adjustment helped and to stop before the text becomes too small to read. The controls are available under More settings; their exact presentation may vary with Firefox and the available print destination.

When Firefox settings do not fix the clipping

A page can have print-specific CSS that changes its layout when printed or saved as a PDF. Mozilla notes that web pages can appear differently on paper than on screen, and MDN’s printing guide describes print styles using @media print and page setup through @page.

If you control the site, inspect its print stylesheet for rules that constrain the table or its container width, hide columns, or force an unsuitable layout. A site author can use print CSS and @page settings to shape the printed presentation. If you only visit the page, Firefox’s controls may not be able to override every site-specific constraint; try the available fit settings, then contact the site owner or use another accessible export option if the content remains clipped.

Or skip the browser setup

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API that can return a PDF. A single GET request captures a URL; the PDF options include paper size, margins, landscape, and page ranges. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options.

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" \
  -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY \
  --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com \
  -d format=pdf \
  -d landscape=true \
  -o page.pdf
import requests

r = requests.get(
    "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot",
    params={
        "access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY",
        "url": "https://stripe.com",
        "format": "pdf",
        "landscape": "true",
    },
    timeout=90,
)
r.raise_for_status()
with open("page.pdf", "wb") as f:
    f.write(r.content)
const q = new URLSearchParams({
  access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY',
  url: 'https://stripe.com',
  format: 'pdf',
  landscape: 'true',
});
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
if (!res.ok) throw new Error(`ScreenshotNeo returned HTTP ${res.status}`);
const fs = await import('node:fs/promises');
await fs.writeFile('page.pdf', Buffer.from(await res.arrayBuffer()));

Before the capture, ScreenshotNeo accepts consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, failed loads, timeouts, and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers report the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server lets AI agents use take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Troubleshooting

What you see Likely cause What to do
The last columns are missing in preview. The table is wider than the printable page area, or the page’s print layout constrains it. Try Landscape, then reduce Scale incrementally; inspect Paper size and Margins. If it persists, the site’s print CSS may be responsible.
The table fits, but the text is too small. Scale was reduced too far to fit every column on one page. Use a larger paper size if appropriate, reduce margins, or accept a multi-page layout if the page provides one. Prioritize legibility over forcing all columns onto a single sheet.
The table looks different in the PDF than on screen. Print rendering or print-specific CSS changes the page presentation. Check Firefox’s preview and the saved PDF. If you own the site, review its @media print and @page rules.
Background colors or images disappear after choosing Simplified. Firefox’s Simplified format disables Print backgrounds. Switch back to Original if you need the original presentation or backgrounds.
There is no Save to PDF destination. The print dialog’s available destinations depend on the environment. Review the destination choices shown in Firefox and select Save to PDF if offered. If unavailable, check the local system’s available print destinations.

Performance, reliability, and file size

For a single page, Firefox’s built-in print preview is the direct path: adjust the page and inspect the result before saving. A very wide table may require smaller scale, a wider paper size, or a site-side print layout change. If reducing scale makes the table unreadable, fitting it onto one page may not be the right output; check whether the site offers a data export or a print view.

For repeated or automated captures, an API can avoid opening a browser manually, but it cannot guarantee that every site’s PDF layout will preserve a table as intended. Review the resulting PDF for clipping and readability. The PDF’s appearance depends on the page’s rendered content and print styles, as well as the chosen page settings.

FAQ

Can Firefox guarantee that every table will fit on one PDF page?

No. Landscape, scale, paper size, and margins offer ways to adjust the page area, but site-specific print styling can still constrain the layout.

What scale should I use?

There is no universal percentage. Reduce it in small steps and use the preview to balance complete columns with readable text.

Does Simplified format fix clipped tables?

It is an optional presentation mode, not a documented clipping fix. It also disables Print backgrounds.

Can I fix the page’s print layout as a visitor?

Only to the extent Firefox’s print controls allow. Changes to @media print or @page require access to the site’s styling.
