FireShot captures webpages as images or PDFs. To save a capture in Google Drive, choose a Drive folder in FireShot’s save or export flow if your installation offers one. If it does not, save the file to your computer and upload it at drive.google.com or move it into your Google Drive folder using Drive for desktop. The direct destination is conditional on the FireShot version or feature tier; the local-save-and-upload workflow is the straightforward fallback. FireShot’s Chrome listing describes capturing a full page, the visible portion, or a selection, while its installed help page names Google Drive among possible destinations.

1. Save directly to a Drive folder from FireShot

  1. Capture the webpage, visible area, or selection with FireShot.
  2. Open FireShot’s save or export action.
  3. Look in the destination chooser for Google Drive or a Drive folder available on your computer. Select it if it is offered.
  4. Choose the intended folder and save the capture.
  5. Open Google Drive and confirm the file appears in that folder.

If Drive is not listed, this route is not available in your current setup. FireShot’s help material mentions cloud-folder destinations, but the available sources do not establish that every current build or free installation exposes direct Drive saving. Use the upload method below if you cannot select a Drive destination.

2. Save to your computer, then upload to Drive

  1. In FireShot, capture the page and save or export the result as an image or PDF to a known folder, such as Downloads.
  2. Go to drive.google.com and sign in to the Google account that should own the file.
  3. Open the destination folder, or create one.
  4. Upload the capture using Drive’s file-upload control, or drag the file from your computer into the open Drive folder.
  5. Wait for the upload to finish, then confirm the file is listed in the destination.

Google also documents using Drive for desktop to upload files: install and configure the app, then move the capture into the Google Drive folder on your computer. Drive syncs files from that folder. Uploads use storage in the account; Google notes that this applies even when uploading into a folder owned by someone else.

3. Choose the right workflow

Workflow When to use it What to check
FireShot direct destination Your FireShot save or export chooser shows Google Drive or a Drive folder. Confirm the file appears in the intended Drive folder.
Save locally, then upload Drive is not offered, or you want a broadly documented upload route. Use the correct signed-in account, wait for upload completion, and check available storage.
Drive for desktop You prefer moving files through your computer’s file manager. Place the file in the configured Google Drive folder and allow sync to finish.

4. A separate option for PDFs opened in Chrome

Google documents a Save to Drive control for certain PDFs opened in Chrome. When that control is available, select it, choose the Google account, and follow the save confirmation or open-in-Drive prompt. Google says the resulting PDF is placed in the Saved from Chrome folder. This is a PDF viewer workflow; it is not a general FireShot export destination for PNG or JPEG screenshots. See Google’s PDF-to-Drive notice. Chrome’s print flow is another way to create a PDF, but the cited Chrome print help describes a Save to Google Drive extension, so check the current interface and extension availability before relying on it.

5. Or skip the browser setup

If your goal is to capture a webpage image or PDF, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. It returns a capture from one GET request; that response is not a direct Google Drive upload, so save the returned file and upload it using the steps above.

Example cURL request:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

For the ScreenshotNeo API documentation, use the API key from your account. A Python example:

import requests

r = requests.get(
    "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot",
    params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"},
    timeout=90,
)
r.raise_for_status()
with open("shot.webp", "wb") as f:
    f.write(r.content)

Node.js example using built-in fetch:

const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
if (!res.ok) throw new Error(`Screenshot request failed: ${res.status}`);
await import('node:fs/promises').then(fs => fs.writeFile('shot.webp', Buffer.from(await res.arrayBuffer())));

ScreenshotNeo removes cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture. Bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server lets AI agents use screenshot tools. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots. The API can return PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF and has options such as full-page capture, viewport settings, and custom CSS. Sign up for 1,000 free screenshots a month, with no card required.

6. Troubleshooting

Problem Likely cause What to do
Google Drive is missing from FireShot’s destinations. Your installed version or feature tier may not offer direct cloud-folder saving, or Drive is not available as a local destination. Save the capture to your computer, then upload it through Drive on the web or Drive for desktop.
The file is not in the folder you expected. A different destination was selected, the upload is still running, or the wrong Drive account is open. Check FireShot’s save location, confirm the account, and look at Drive’s upload status before retrying.
The browser upload does not start. The file was not selected or dropped into the folder, or the page is no longer in the intended folder. Reopen the destination folder and use Drive’s upload control to select the saved file.
Drive reports a storage issue. The upload counts toward the account’s storage quota. Check available storage or choose an account with enough space. Uploads to another person’s folder can still use storage in your account.
The Chrome PDF Save to Drive option is missing. The open item may not be a supported PDF, or the control or extension described in older Chrome help may not be available in the current setup. Use FireShot’s export or save flow, then upload the resulting file to Drive. Treat the Chrome option as specific to PDFs.
A FireShot capture is blank or incomplete. The selected capture mode may cover only the visible area, or page content may not have finished loading. Choose full-page capture when needed, wait for the page to render, and verify the saved file locally before uploading.

7. Reliability and storage notes

  • For a reliable handoff, confirm both that FireShot saved a local file (when using the fallback) and that Drive shows the completed upload.
  • Keep the local copy until the file appears in Drive if the capture matters; a browser upload can be interrupted before completion.
  • Choose a consistent destination folder so repeated captures are easy to find. Use clear filenames if you save multiple pages.
  • Drive storage applies to uploaded captures. A screenshot is usually smaller than a full-page PDF, but the actual file size depends on page length, format, and image content.

8. FAQ

Can FireShot save screenshots directly to Google Drive?

FireShot’s installed help page lists Google Drive as a possible destination. Whether it appears depends on the available save destinations in your setup; use a local save and upload if it is absent.

Does Chrome’s Save to Drive button work for every FireShot image?

No. Google’s documented control is for certain PDFs opened in Chrome. It is not a universal route for FireShot PNG or JPEG exports.

Can I upload a FireShot file to a shared folder?

Yes, if your Google account has permission to add files there. The upload still uses storage in your account, according to Google Drive Help.

Do I need an API to put a FireShot capture in Drive?

No. FireShot’s save flow, Drive in a browser, or Drive for desktop are enough. ScreenshotNeo is an optional way to capture a webpage through an API; its returned file still needs uploading to Drive.
