How to Capture a Full-Page Screenshot in Chrome on Windows 10

Capture an entire webpage in Chrome on Windows 10 with DevTools, choose the right alternative for a screen snip or PDF, and troubleshoot common issues.

To capture a full-page screenshot in Chrome on Windows 10: open the page, press Ctrl+Shift+I to open DevTools, then press Ctrl+Shift+P to open the Command Menu. Search for screenshot and choose Capture full size screenshot. Chrome captures the webpage beyond the part currently visible in the window. Chrome DevTools documents the Command Menu and full-size capture command.

Capture the whole webpage with Chrome DevTools

  1. Open the webpage you want to capture in Chrome.
  2. Open DevTools with Ctrl+Shift+I. You can also open DevTools from Chrome’s menu if the shortcut is unavailable.
  3. Open the DevTools Command Menu with Ctrl+Shift+P.
  4. Type screenshot in the menu to find the available capture commands.
  5. Select Capture full size screenshot. Chrome saves an image of the page, including content below the visible viewport.

Choose the command labeled Capture full size screenshot when you need the entire webpage. A viewport or area capture only covers a limited part of the page.

Choose the right kind of capture

The best method depends on whether you need the webpage, the visible screen, or a document:

What you need Use What it captures
The entire webpage, including content below the fold Chrome DevTools: Capture full size screenshot The full page as an image
A region or everything currently visible on screen Windows Snipping Tool A screen capture, not a scrolling webpage capture
A document to read or share Chrome print dialog, opened with Ctrl+P A printable page; choose a PDF destination where available

Microsoft documents Snipping Tool’s screen capture modes. For a document instead of an image, use Chrome’s print workflow; available destinations can depend on your Windows setup. See Chrome’s printing instructions.

When full-page capture needs extra care

A full-size capture includes webpage content outside the viewport, but web pages can load or change content as you interact with them. If a page has images or sections that appear only after scrolling, make sure the page has finished loading and that the content you need is present before capturing. If the resulting image is incomplete or the command behaves differently, reopen the Command Menu and search for screenshot to inspect the available options.

Chrome’s DevTools menus and labels can change between releases. The Command Menu search is a useful fallback when the option is not where you expect it in the interface.

Troubleshooting

The shortcut does not open DevTools

Press Ctrl+Shift+I while the Chrome window is active. If your keyboard or system intercepts the shortcut, open DevTools from Chrome’s menu instead.

The Command Menu does not open

First make sure DevTools is open, then press Ctrl+Shift+P. The Command Menu shortcut is for DevTools; it is different from the browser’s print shortcut, Ctrl+P.

“Capture full size screenshot” is missing

Search the Command Menu for screenshot and review the commands Chrome offers. The precise menu arrangement and labels may change with Chrome updates. Confirm that DevTools is open and that you are searching in its Command Menu.

The image shows only part of the page

Check that you selected Capture full size screenshot, rather than a viewport or area option. Full-page capture is intended to include content beyond the visible viewport.

I need a PDF or a small screen region instead

For a PDF document, open print with Ctrl+P and choose an available PDF destination. For a visible region or screen, use Windows Snipping Tool. Neither is the same workflow as capturing the whole scrolling webpage with DevTools.

Or skip the browser setup

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API: send one GET request with a URL and receive an image or PDF. Its capture options include full-page screenshots with lazy images loaded. For this page, the direct Chrome method above is enough; an API is useful when you want repeatable captures from code or an automated workflow.

Here is a cURL call you can run after replacing the placeholder with your API key. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for the available parameters and formats.

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

Cookie and consent banners are accepted and removed before capture, along with supported newsletter popups and chat widgets. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed; response headers indicate the page verdict and billing status. ScreenshotNeo also provides an MCP server with screenshot tools for AI agents. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots.

FAQ

Does a full-page screenshot include content below the fold?

Yes. Choose Capture full size screenshot in the DevTools Command Menu to capture the webpage beyond the currently visible area.

Can Windows Snipping Tool capture a whole scrolling webpage?

Snipping Tool captures screen content, such as a region or the full screen. For a full scrolling webpage, use Chrome DevTools’ full-size capture command.

How do I save a webpage as a PDF?

Press Ctrl+P in Chrome and select an available PDF destination. That creates a document rather than a screenshot image.
