On Windows, press Ctrl+Shift+S in Microsoft Edge, choose Capture full page, review the result, and save it. The shortcut opens Edge’s Screenshot/Web capture interface; selecting the full-page option is a separate step.

Capture a full page with the Edge keyboard shortcut

  1. Open Edge and navigate to the webpage you want to capture.
  2. Press Ctrl+Shift+S.
  3. In the Screenshot or Web capture interface, choose Capture full page. Microsoft describes this as the middle option.
  4. Review the captured page, then save it to your device.

The shortcut opens the capture tool; it does not by itself guarantee a full-page image. Choose Capture full page rather than Capture area. Capture area is for a selected portion of the page. Microsoft’s guide says an area capture can be copied or marked up before saving.

Microsoft’s learning-center article uses the older name “Web capture”; current policy documentation calls the feature “Screenshot.” The names can differ between instructions and the browser interface. Microsoft’s full-page capture guide explains the workflow.

Which Edge capture method should you use?

Method Best for Steps Keep in mind
Built-in Screenshot/Web capture Most Edge users Ctrl+Shift+S, then Capture full page The feature can be disabled by browser policy.
DevTools full-size capture Developers or people already working in DevTools Open Device Toolbar, then More options > Capture a full size screenshot Do not confuse this with Capture screenshot, which captures only the viewport.

For the standard browser workflow, use the built-in tool. If you already have DevTools open or need its device emulation workflow, Microsoft documents a separate full-size capture route in its DevTools screenshot guide.

Edge keyboard shortcut and platform availability

Microsoft documents Ctrl+Shift+S for Screenshot when the feature is enabled or not configured by policy. Its policy reference lists the feature for Windows and macOS, versions 87 and later, and not for Android or iOS. The policy reference does not establish a Mac keyboard equivalent. On Mac, look for Screenshot in Edge’s menu and check the behavior in your installed version rather than assuming the Windows shortcut applies.

On a managed Windows or Mac installation, an administrator may disable Screenshot with the WebCaptureEnabled policy. Microsoft says enabling the policy or leaving it unconfigured makes Screenshot available from the context menu, Settings and more menu, and Ctrl+Shift+S; disabling it blocks access. See the WebCaptureEnabled policy documentation for the policy behavior. Microsoft’s general Edge shortcut list does not document a Mac shortcut for Screenshot.

Troubleshooting full-page screenshots in Edge

Problem Likely cause What to do
Ctrl+Shift+S does nothing The feature may be disabled by policy, or the shortcut may not be available in your installation. Open Edge’s Settings and more menu or context menu and look for Screenshot/Web capture. If the browser is managed and the feature is missing, ask the administrator whether WebCaptureEnabled is disabled.
The image contains only part of the page You chose Capture area or a viewport-only capture instead of the full-page option. Open the built-in tool again and choose Capture full page. In DevTools, choose Capture a full size screenshot, not Capture screenshot.
The interface says Web capture instead of Screenshot Microsoft’s instructions and policy documentation use different names. Look for the full-page capture command; the naming difference does not mean you opened a different browser.
You are using Edge on Mac and the shortcut is unclear The cited Microsoft shortcut documentation does not specify a Mac key combination for Screenshot. Use Edge’s menu to find the command and verify the available action in your installed version.

Or skip the browser setup

For repeatable captures from code, ScreenshotNeo provides a website screenshot API and MCP server. A single GET request returns an image or PDF. Here is a runnable cURL example that saves a full-page capture:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" \
  -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY \
  --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com \
  -d full_page=true \
  -o shot.webp

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for authentication and options. Cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot. Bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed. An MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000.

Frequently asked questions

Does Ctrl+Shift+S immediately save the whole page?

No. It opens the capture interface. Select Capture full page, review the result, and save it.

Can I use the built-in feature on Android or iPhone?

Microsoft’s policy table does not list Screenshot as supported on Android or iOS. The workflow in this guide is for desktop Edge.

Is DevTools capture the same as Edge’s shortcut?

No. DevTools has a distinct full-size screenshot command. Its Capture screenshot command captures the current viewport.
