To capture an entire webpage in Microsoft Edge, open the page, press Ctrl+Shift+S, choose Capture full page, review the result, and save it. Edge’s built-in Screenshot feature captures content below the visible screen without requiring you to scroll and stitch images. The menu route is Settings and more (…) > Screenshot; some Edge versions or documentation may call it Web capture. Microsoft Edge Screenshot feature

Capture and save the full page

  1. Open Microsoft Edge and navigate to the webpage you want to capture.
  2. Press Ctrl+Shift+S. Alternatively, open Settings and more (…) and select the screenshot or capture command. You can also open Screenshot from the page’s right-click menu.
  3. Select Capture full page. Choose the full-page option rather than a visible-area selection.
  4. Review the capture. Use the available markup or copy controls if useful, then save the image to your device.

The name may vary as Edge changes: Microsoft’s feature page calls it Screenshot, while older guidance and the administrative policy use Web Capture. Look for the screenshot or capture command if the label differs.

What full-page capture includes

Full-page capture is intended to include webpage content beyond the visible viewport in one image, so you do not need to manually scroll and combine multiple screenshots. The result is an image you can review and save. As with any browser capture, a particular website’s behavior can affect what appears; inspect the result before sharing or relying on it.

When to use another Edge capture option

Need Best fit Why
An image of the whole webpage saved locally Edge Screenshot > Capture full page Captures content beyond the visible screen.
A document suitable for printing Edge Print (Ctrl+P) Print or save a document-oriented PDF; it is not the same deliverable as a screenshot image.
A screenshot saved directly into a notebook OneNote Web Clipper > Full Page Clips the page as a screenshot image into a OneNote notebook.
A capture of visible screen content Windows Snipping Tool Offers freeform, rectangle, window, and full-screen captures, with markup and saving. A screen capture is different from a webpage capture that includes below-the-fold content.

Microsoft documents Snipping Tool, printing in Edge, and the OneNote Web Clipper as separate workflows.

Troubleshooting

The Screenshot command or shortcut is missing

In organization-managed Edge installations, an administrator can control the feature with the WebCaptureEnabled policy. Microsoft says the command is available in the context menu, Settings and more menu, and keyboard shortcut when the policy is enabled or not configured. If the browser is managed and the option is unavailable, ask your IT administrator whether the policy is set. Microsoft’s WebCaptureEnabled policy reference

The capture is not the output you need

Use Capture full page for a whole-page image. For a printable document, use Ctrl+P; for a local screen snip, use Snipping Tool; for a capture filed in OneNote, use Web Clipper. These workflows produce different output types and destinations.

The saved result needs correction

Review the capture before using it. If the page did not render as expected, try capturing it again after it has loaded, and check whether the page itself changes content as you browse. The documented workflow does not guarantee identical results on every site or Edge configuration.

Or skip the browser setup

If you need repeatable captures from code, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. One GET request returns an image or PDF. This runnable cURL example saves a WebP screenshot of Stripe; replace the URL and API key with your own. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for options.

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

Cookie and consent banners are accepted like a visitor and removed along with 60+ known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks and CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers report the page verdict and billing status. An MCP server gives AI agents such as Claude and Cursor tools to take screenshots, get page information, and capture PDFs. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots. Every feature is available on every plan.
