How to Take a Full-Page Screenshot in Notion
Learn Notion’s complete-page PDF export, database and subpage options, print caveats, and how to create a clean image capture with ScreenshotNeo.
For a complete Notion page, use Notion’s official export: open the page, select the ••• menu, choose Export, select PDF, choose the content and page-format options, then export the file. This produces a PDF representation rather than a raster image screenshot. Notion’s export documentation describes this as the supported full-page workflow.
1. Export a complete Notion page as a PDF
- Open the Notion page.
- Select the
•••menu in the upper-right corner. - Choose Export.
- Set the format to PDF.
- Choose whether to include all content or exclude files and images.
- Select a page format and adjust the scale percentage if necessary.
- Select Export and save the PDF.
Use a smaller scale when a wide table is being cut off. Use a larger scale when text is difficult to read. Exporting creates a document that can be searched, printed and shared; it does not create a PNG, JPEG or WebP image.
2. Include nested subpages
Notion documents an Include subpages option for Business and Enterprise plans. When enabled, the export is a ZIP archive containing separate PDFs for nested pages and folders for associated images or other assets. Enable this when the page is a hub that contains material you need to archive with it.
Before exporting, decide whether you need:
- Only the current page: leave subpage inclusion disabled.
- The page tree: enable Include subpages if your plan provides it.
- Images and files: keep included content enabled unless you need a smaller archive.
3. Print a Notion page to PDF from a browser
If the page is open in a browser, Notion also documents File → Print → Save as PDF. This is an alternative when the export menu is unavailable or when you want to use your browser’s print settings.
There are two important limitations:
- A full-page database should be exported as PDF first. Browser printing does not directly print a full-page database correctly.
- The Notion desktop app cannot print directly. Export the page or database to PDF first, then print the exported file.
4. PDF versus an image screenshot
| Requirement | Best route | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Archive or print the entire page | Notion Export → PDF | PDF document |
| Include nested pages | Export with Include subpages | ZIP containing page PDFs and assets |
| Use a browser’s print layout | File → Print → Save as PDF | PDF document |
| Publish a raster image in a report or webpage | Use a screenshot capture service | PNG, JPEG or WebP image |
Notion’s official help documents PDF export and print-to-PDF, not a built-in full-page image screenshot workflow. A Chrome Web Store listing for Page Capture for Notion describes a third-party PDF capture extension, but its current permissions and behavior should be reviewed before installation; the listing is not independent testing.
5. Export fidelity and known caveats
- Custom emojis do not appear in Notion PDF exports.
- If PDF export fails, Notion says it will export the content as HTML instead.
- Large databases and pages with many assets can produce larger files and take longer to export.
- Check the resulting PDF page by page for clipped tables, missing files and unexpected page breaks before sharing it.
6. A practical checklist
- Confirm you opened the correct top-level page.
- Choose PDF in the export dialog.
- Decide whether files, images and subpages belong in the result.
- Pick a page format that fits the widest table.
- Adjust scale until headings and tables are readable.
- Open the exported file and verify the final page, databases and attachments.
- Remember that custom emojis may be absent.
7. Or skip the browser setup
If you need a raster screenshot of the complete rendered page, ScreenshotNeo captures a URL through one API request. It can load a page, wait for content and return a PNG, JPEG or WebP. Cookie and consent banners, newsletter popups and chat widgets are removed before the shot. Bot checks, blank pages and failed loads are not billed, and the response identifies the result with X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers. ScreenshotNeo also provides an MCP server for AI agents with take_screenshot, get_page_info and capture_pdf.
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for authentication and options. The following calls use the documented endpoint and parameter names; replace the URL with a publicly reachable Notion share URL.
cURL
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" \
-d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY \
--data-urlencode url=https://www.notion.so/your-shared-page \
-o notion.webp
Python
import requests
r = requests.get(
"https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot",
params={
"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY",
"url": "https://www.notion.so/your-shared-page",
},
timeout=90,
)
r.raise_for_status()
open("notion.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
Node.js
const q = new URLSearchParams({
access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY',
url: 'https://www.notion.so/your-shared-page'
});
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
if (!res.ok) throw new Error(`Screenshot failed: ${res.status}`);
const image = Buffer.from(await res.arrayBuffer());
await import('node:fs/promises').then(fs => fs.writeFile('notion.webp', image));
The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots each month with no card. Paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots, and every feature is available on every plan. Create a free ScreenshotNeo account.
8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| PDF export is unavailable or fails | Notion could not complete the PDF export | Retry the export; Notion may provide an HTML export fallback. |
| Subpages are missing | Include subpages was not enabled or is unavailable on the plan | Export the pages individually, or enable the documented option on a Business or Enterprise plan. |
| A full-page database prints incorrectly | Browser print does not directly handle the complete database | Export the database as PDF from Notion first. |
| The desktop app has no Print command | The desktop app does not print directly | Use Notion’s export workflow, then print the exported PDF. |
| Custom emoji is absent | Notion omits custom emojis from PDF exports | Use another visual marker in the source page or accept the PDF limitation. |
| ScreenshotNeo returns an error | The URL may require authentication, be unavailable publicly or have failed to load | Check that the shared URL is reachable, verify the API key, and inspect the response status and verdict headers. |
| The screenshot contains a popup | The element is not one of the known consent, newsletter or chat widgets | Use ScreenshotNeo’s hide-selector or custom JavaScript options to remove it before capture. |
9. Performance, reliability and cost
- PDF export: best for an archival document and nested-page bundle; export time and file size increase with page length and assets.
- Browser printing: convenient for a single page, but avoid it for full-page databases.
- Raster capture: choose a viewport and output format that match the destination; very long pages can create large image files.
- ScreenshotNeo billing: only clean shots are billed. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits cost nothing, with the outcome shown in response headers.
- Repeat captures: ScreenshotNeo supports caching with a TTL you choose, which can reduce repeated work when the page has not changed.
10. FAQ
Does Notion have a native full-page PNG screenshot button?
The documented native workflow is PDF export. Notion’s help does not document a built-in full-page raster-image screenshot.
Can I export an entire Notion workspace at once?
The documented page export supports the current page and, on eligible plans, nested subpages. Organize larger exports as multiple page or subpage exports.
Will a PDF export preserve custom emojis?
No. Notion lists custom emojis among the items omitted from PDF exports.
Can I capture a private Notion page with a URL-only request?
A capture request needs a URL the capture service can reach. For private pages, use an appropriate public share or authenticated capture configuration and follow the service’s documentation.
