To capture an entire webpage in Safari on iPad, take a screenshot, open its thumbnail, choose Full Page, then save it as an image to Photos or as a PDF to Files. The Full Page option appears in the screenshot preview after capture; it is not a separate Safari menu command. Apple’s iPad screenshot guide documents this workflow.

Take and save a full-page Safari screenshot

  1. Open the webpage in Safari and wait for the part you need to appear.
  2. Take a screenshot using the buttons for your iPad:
    • Without a Home button: quickly press and release the top button and either volume button together.
    • With a Home button: quickly press and release the top button and the Home button together.
  3. Tap the screenshot thumbnail in the lower-left corner before it disappears.
  4. In the screenshot preview, tap Full Page. Drag along the preview at the right to inspect more of the captured page.
  5. To keep only part of the capture, tap Crop and adjust the handles.
  6. Tap Done, then choose where to save it:
    • Save to Photos stores an image in your Photos library.
    • Save PDF to Files stores a PDF in the Files app. Choose a folder if prompted.

The physical-button sequence depends on whether the iPad has a Home button. Apple also documents Apple Pencil, AssistiveTouch, and Siri as alternative ways to initiate a screenshot; the button method above is the direct workflow.

Find the saved screenshot

For an image, open Photos, tap Collections, scroll to Media Types, then tap Screenshots. For a PDF, open Files and browse to the folder you selected when saving.

Image or PDF: which should you choose?

Choose When it fits Where it goes
Image You want a visual capture to keep with other photos or share as an image. Photos
PDF You want the full-page capture saved as a document. Files

Apple’s documented save choices for a Full Page capture are an image in Photos or a PDF in Files. If you need the page as a picture, choose Photos; if you need a document file, choose PDF to Files.

Troubleshooting

  • There is no Full Page tab: Make sure you tapped the screenshot thumbnail to open its preview, then look for Full Page there. Apple’s guide describes this option for a webpage captured in Safari; it is not a Safari menu item.
  • The thumbnail disappeared: Take another screenshot and tap its thumbnail promptly to open the preview.
  • The screenshot only shows the visible screen: Open the preview and select Full Page before saving. A regular screenshot and a full-page capture are different choices in the preview.
  • You cannot see the whole capture in the preview: Drag on the preview at the right to move through the captured page.
  • The capture includes more than you need: Use Crop in the preview and adjust the handles before tapping Done.
  • You cannot find the saved file: Check Photos under Collections → Media Types → Screenshots for an image. For a PDF, check the Files folder you chose when saving.

Apple’s guide does not establish behavior for every iPadOS version or every webpage. If a control or result differs on your device, consult Apple’s current instructions for your iPad and inspect the available choices in the screenshot preview.

Or skip the browser setup

For repeatable captures from code, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. It can return PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF from one GET request. For this Safari page, use its URL as the target:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://support.apple.com/en-us/102500 -o shot.webp

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. Cookie and consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets are removed before capture; each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers report the page verdict and billing status. An MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for AI agents. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000.
