How to Capture a Full-Page Screenshot of a Website in Safari on iPhone

Capture an entire Safari webpage on your iPhone, then save it as an image in Photos or a PDF in Files. Here are the steps and alternatives.

To capture an entire website in Safari on iPhone, take a screenshot, tap its preview, choose Full Page, then save the result to Photos as an image or to Files as a PDF. Apple documents this built-in full-page option for webpages in Safari. Apple Support: Take a screenshot on iPhone.

Capture and save the full webpage

  1. Open the webpage in Safari. Wait for the parts you need to load, and scroll through the page if necessary so lazy-loaded sections appear.
  2. Take a screenshot. On an iPhone with Face ID, quickly press and release the side button and volume up together. On an iPhone with a Home button, quickly press and release the side button and Home together.
  3. Tap the screenshot preview. If it appears as a temporary thumbnail, tap it before it disappears. If you do not see a thumbnail, open the screenshot using the screenshot controls available on your iPhone; screenshot display settings can affect whether the capture opens full screen or as a thumbnail.
  4. Tap Full Page. Use the preview along the right side to inspect the longer capture. If you need only part of the page, tap the crop control and adjust the handles.
  5. Choose where and how to save it. Select Save to Photos for an image, or open the save options, choose Save PDF to Files, and select a Files location for a PDF.

For iPhone models with a top button rather than a side button, Apple also documents taking a screenshot with the top button and Home button together. Button combinations and interface details can vary by model and iOS version.

Choose image or PDF

Need Choose Saved in
A shareable picture of the page Save to Photos Photos
A document to file or send Save PDF to Files Files
A webpage PDF with highlights or notes Safari Share, then Markup and Save File To Files

The Full Page screenshot flow is suited to capturing a long page as an image or PDF. If your main goal is an annotated webpage PDF, Safari also has a separate Share-to-Markup route: open the page menu or Share button, choose Markup, add annotations if desired, then choose Save File To and save the document. The Share control location depends on Safari’s tab layout. Apple Support: Annotate and save a webpage as a PDF in Safari on iPhone.

What to check before saving

  • Wait for the page: let images and other content finish loading. Pages that load content as you scroll may need a little time or a scroll through the sections before capture.
  • Review the preview: inspect the long-page preview before saving and crop out content you do not need.
  • Pick the destination intentionally: choose Photos for an image; choose Files for a PDF. The two outputs are not interchangeable.
  • Need annotations? Use Safari’s Share and Markup PDF flow when you want to highlight or write notes on the webpage.

Troubleshooting

There is no Full Page option

Make sure you opened the screenshot preview from a webpage in Safari. The Full Page control is for supported full-page captures; an ordinary screenshot of another app or content may only capture the visible screen. If the thumbnail vanished, take another screenshot and open its preview promptly.

The screenshot preview did not appear

Screenshot settings can change whether a screenshot opens full screen or appears as a temporary thumbnail. Look for the screenshot controls after capture, or take another screenshot and tap the thumbnail as soon as it appears.

The saved capture misses images or sections

Some webpages load images or sections only when they approach the visible area. Wait for the page to settle and scroll through the content you need before capturing. If a page requires an interaction or sign-in to reveal content, make sure that content is visible in Safari first.

I saved the wrong format or cannot find the file

Use Save to Photos for an image and check Photos. Use Save PDF to Files for a PDF and check the Files location selected during saving. For an annotated PDF, use Safari’s Share and Markup route.

The button combination does not work

Use the combination for your device: side plus volume up on Face ID models, side plus Home on Home-button models, or top plus Home on models with a top button. Press and release the buttons together quickly.

Or skip the browser setup

If you need screenshots from code, a repeatable workflow, or captures for many URLs, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server from Yorker Media. It is a server-side alternative; it does not save a capture into your iPhone’s Photos library. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation.

For example, this cURL request saves a full-page WebP capture:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

Python:

import requests

r = requests.get(
    "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot",
    params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"},
    timeout=90,
)
r.raise_for_status()
with open("shot.webp", "wb") as image_file:
    image_file.write(r.content)

Node.js:

const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
if (!res.ok) throw new Error(`Screenshot request failed: ${res.status}`);
await Bun.write('shot.webp', new Uint8Array(await res.arrayBuffer()));

ScreenshotNeo removes cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed. Its MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card, and paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up for 1,000 free screenshots a month, no card required.

FAQ

Can I save a full-page Safari screenshot as a picture?

Yes. In the Full Page screenshot view, choose Save to Photos.

Can I save the entire webpage as a PDF?

Yes. From the Full Page view, choose Save PDF to Files. For a PDF with annotations, use Safari’s Share and Markup option.

Does the full-page capture include content that was never loaded?

A screenshot captures the webpage as it is available in Safari. If a page reveals content only after scrolling, waiting, or interacting, load or reveal that content before taking the screenshot.
