How to Capture a Google SERP Screenshot in a Specific Language and Region

Set Google’s results language and region separately, then capture a screenshot with the conditions recorded for repeatable research.

To capture a Google search results page (SERP) for a particular language and region, set those controls separately: choose a results region in Google Search settings, then apply the Results Language Filter from the results page or Advanced Search. Run your query, confirm the settings, and capture the page with your browser or operating system. The display-language setting changes Google’s menus and buttons; it does not by itself force results into that language.

Choose the right Google settings

These controls affect different parts of the search experience:

Control What it does Where to set it
Display language Changes the language of interface text such as buttons and menus. It does not force results to use that language. Google Search language settings
Results region Sets a regional preference for search results. Your actual location may also influence what you see. Google Search settings
Results Language Filter Narrows web results by a selected language, subject to Google’s language detection and feature limitations. Tools > Any language on a results page, or Advanced Search

Google chooses result languages using multiple signals, including the query, device or browser preferences, location, and whether content in another language may be useful. Its [multilingual search explanation](https://developers.google.com/search/blog/2023/09/multilingual-search) distinguishes display language from result language. Google’s [Results Language Filter help](https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/13485060) describes how to apply the filter and its limitations.

Set the results region and language

  1. Open Google Search settings and select the intended results region. Save the setting if prompted. Google provides separate language and region controls; consult [Search settings](https://www.google.com/preferences) and [Google’s region settings guidance](https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/873).
  2. Return to Google Search and enter the exact query you need to document.
  3. On the results page, select Tools, open Any language, and choose the desired results language. If you prefer, use the language filter in [Advanced Search](https://www.google.com/advanced_search) before submitting the query.
  4. Review the visible results and settings. Record the query, selected language and region, date and time, and whether you were signed in. These notes make the capture easier to interpret; they do not guarantee identical results in another session.
  5. Capture the visible page with your browser or operating system’s screenshot function. For a long page, use a full-page capture method available in your browser or a screenshot tool that supports full-page capture.

Check the capture conditions

  • Confirm the region setting and language filter before capturing; settings can differ between sessions.
  • Keep the query exact, including spelling, punctuation, and quoted phrases.
  • Note the time and sign-in state, and avoid implying the screenshot is a canonical result set.
  • Check whether the language filter applies to the content you are documenting. Google says some features are unaffected, and pages with mixed or unclear language may not be classified as expected.

Google’s [Search settings help](https://support.google.com/websearch/answer/873) explains the regional preference. Location can remain a signal even after selecting a region, so a screenshot is evidence of what appeared under the recorded conditions, not proof that all users in that region will see the same page. Google also describes other result variation factors such as location, language, device, and query features in [How Search works](https://www.google.com/search/howsearchworks/).

What to expect from language filtering

The Results Language Filter is useful for narrowing web results, but it is not a guarantee that every result, module, or feature will be in the selected language. Google notes that some search features are not changed by the filter and that language detection may be uncertain for mixed-language or ambiguous pages.

If the language option is absent, Google says the Results Language Filter does not appear when English is the only selected language. Review your language preferences and try Advanced Search. Do not treat a display-language change as a substitute for a results-language filter.

Google’s Programmable Search Engine API documents parameters such as hl for interface language and gl for boosting results associated with a country. That API documentation does not establish those parameters as a supported recipe for ordinary google.com SERP screenshots. For this workflow, use Google Search’s visible settings and filter controls. See the [Programmable Search Engine API reference](https://developers.google.com/custom-search/docs/xml_results).

Or skip the browser setup

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. It can capture a URL as PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. For a Google results URL, it can automate the screenshot request, but it does not set Google’s results language or region: configure and verify those in Google first. Google may also vary results by location and other signals, so record your conditions.

One-call example using the target URL:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://www.google.com/search?q=example -o shot.webp

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. Cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot; each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, failed loads, timeouts, and cache hits are not billed, and the response identifies the page verdict and billing status. An MCP server lets AI agents use screenshot tools. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots.

Troubleshooting

Symptom Likely cause What to do
Results are still in other languages Display language was changed without applying the Results Language Filter, or Google considers other languages relevant. Apply the filter from Tools or Advanced Search and note that it narrows web results rather than controlling every feature.
The language filter is missing English is the only selected language, according to Google’s help guidance. Review language preferences or use the language option in Advanced Search.
The page’s menus changed but results did not You changed display language, which controls interface text. Set the results language separately with the Results Language Filter.
Results do not look like the intended country Region preference is only one signal; actual location and other context may influence results. Recheck the saved region, record physical/location context where relevant, and describe the screenshot as an observation under those conditions.
A result or module ignores the selected language The filter does not affect every search feature, or Google could not confidently detect the page language. Document the limitation; use the screenshot to show what Google displayed rather than claiming complete language enforcement.
A later capture differs despite the same settings Search results can vary with time, location, language, device, query features, or sign-in state. Record the capture date and time, query, settings, device context, and sign-in state for comparison.

FAQ

How do I get Google search results in another language?

Use Tools > Any language on the results page, or set a language in Advanced Search. Changing Google’s display language alone does not select result language.

How can I change Google results to another country?

Choose a results region in Google Search settings and save it. Location can also influence results, so the setting does not promise identical results for every person in that country.

Can I make a localized SERP screenshot reproducible?

You can record the query, region, language, timestamp, and sign-in state to make the conditions clear. Google does not guarantee identical results across sessions.

The cited documentation describes them for the Programmable Search Engine API; it does not verify them as ordinary Google Search URL controls.
