How to capture Google SERP screenshots for Hindi keywords in India

Set Google’s results language to Hindi and region to India, capture the SERP in Chrome, and record the conditions so others can interpret the screenshot.

To capture a useful Google SERP screenshot for a Hindi keyword in India, set Google’s search results language to Hindi and results region to India, enter the exact query, capture the viewport or full page in Chrome DevTools, and save a note with the query and session conditions. A screenshot documents one observed results page under those conditions; it does not establish a universal ranking for every searcher in India.

1. Set the search language and region

  1. Open Google Search settings.
  2. Find the results language and region controls. Set the preferred language for search results to Hindi and the results region to India.
  3. Keep the display language separate from the results language. Google presents these as distinct settings; changing the interface language alone does not document that the results language is Hindi. Google Search settings
  4. Save the settings if prompted, then return to Search.

Use the exact keyword you are researching. Preserve Devanagari spelling, punctuation, and spacing, or preserve the exact Roman transliteration if that is the target query. Do not silently translate or normalize it: a spelling variant is a different research input.

Google describes settings that can persist across browsers when you are signed in. Search customization may also use searches from the browser to make results and recommendations more relevant. Record whether you were signed in and whether you used a clean browser profile. A new window by itself does not establish a neutral session. Google Chrome Help · Google Search settings

2. Choose the screenshot framing

Capture Use it for What it includes
Viewport The first visible screen or a result seen without scrolling What is currently visible in the browser viewport.
Full size A record of results farther down the page A full-page image including below-the-fold content.
Area A focused crop for close reading or a figure The selected rectangular region; preserve a separate original if you need the full context.

Chrome DevTools documents viewport and full-size screenshots in Device mode, and area capture from the Command Menu. Chrome DevTools Device mode · Chrome DevTools Command Menu

3. Capture in Chrome DevTools

Viewport or full-size screenshot

  1. Open the Google results page for the exact query.
  2. Open Chrome DevTools and turn on the device toolbar.
  3. In the device toolbar, open the More options menu.
  4. Choose Capture screenshot for the current viewport, or Capture a full size screenshot to include below-the-fold content.
  5. Save the generated image with a descriptive filename.

Device mode lets you inspect a chosen viewport. Record its dimensions or selected device preset because these affect wrapping, visible results, and page layout. Chrome DevTools Device mode

Area screenshot

  1. Keep DevTools open and docked in the browser.
  2. Open the Command Menu and type screenshot.
  3. Select Capture area screenshot, then drag over the region to capture.

Area capture requires DevTools to remain docked. If the command is missing or the workflow fails, check the docking state first. Chrome DevTools Command Menu

4. Preserve enough context to reproduce the observation

Save a sidecar text note or include a compact identifier in the filename. Record:

  • The exact query string, including script, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Results language: Hindi; results region: India.
  • Capture date and time, including time zone.
  • Browser and capture method; viewport dimensions or device preset.
  • Whether you were signed in and whether you used a clean profile.
  • Any visible location label or English/Hindi results switch, if one actually appears.
  • Whether the image is the original, a full-page capture, or a cropped/annotated derivative.

For example, a filename could be hindi-keyword-india_2026-10-04_1430-UTC_full.png; put the query itself in the sidecar note if it is too long or sensitive for a filename. Keep the original screenshot unchanged as the source record. If you crop or annotate a copy for a report, label that file as a derivative.

5. Interpret the screenshot carefully

Google has historically described an English/Hindi results switch for some users in Hindi-speaking states. That historical description does not mean a switch appears on every current query. Use the settings controls as the core method and record an in-result switch only if it is visible. Google India Blog

Likewise, do not treat one captured page as “the” result for a keyword in India. The screenshot is evidence of what appeared for a particular query, time, browser profile, settings, and viewport. Personalization and session context can influence what a searcher sees.

6. Troubleshooting

Problem Likely cause What to do
The interface is Hindi but results do not seem to follow the intended language. Display language and results language are separate settings. Reopen Search settings and verify the results-language preference itself is Hindi.
The results region is not India. The results-region selection was not set or saved. Check the region control, select India, save if prompted, and record the setting.
A fresh window shows familiar or personalized results. Settings may persist across browsers while signed in, and browser searches may inform customization. Record sign-in and profile context. If your protocol calls for it, use a clean profile and document that choice; do not assume a new window removes account-level settings.
The English/Hindi switch is absent. The described switch is not guaranteed to appear for every query or user. Use the saved results-language setting and note that no switch was visible.
Area screenshot is unavailable or does not start. DevTools may be undocked, or the Command Menu workflow was not used. Dock DevTools, open the Command Menu, search for screenshot, and choose area capture.
The screenshot cuts off results you need. A viewport capture includes only the visible viewport. Use Capture a full size screenshot in Device mode, or scroll and capture separate documented viewports if you need staged observations.
Another researcher cannot tell what the image represents. The file lacks query, time, locale, or session context. Add the sidecar fields listed above and distinguish the original from any edited copy.

7. Performance, reliability, and cost

Chrome DevTools is a direct browser workflow and requires no screenshot API request. Full-page captures contain more content than viewport captures and may take more time or produce larger files; choose the smallest framing that preserves the evidence you need. A viewport is easier to compare at a consistent size, while a full-page capture better records content below the fold. Keep viewport dimensions, capture type, and session conditions consistent across repeated observations.

For research reliability, save the original image and metadata together, use a consistent capture protocol, and repeat observations at separately recorded times if you need to compare change. A screenshot alone cannot prove why a result appeared or that all users see the same SERP.

Or skip the browser setup

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. It can capture a URL as an image or PDF, but the Google settings and session context still need to be configured and recorded for your research question. Use the browser workflow above when you need to document those controls directly. For a URL capture, one GET request is enough:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://www.google.com/search?q=YOUR_ENCODED_QUERY -o shot.webp

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. URL parameters and search results can vary; this call does not by itself establish Hindi results language, India region, or a reproducible signed-in state. For stronger SERP research records, configure the Google session and save the capture context.

  • Cookie and consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets are handled before the shot.
  • Bot checks, blank pages, failed loads, and timeouts are never billed; response headers report the page verdict and billing status.
  • An MCP server lets AI agents use take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf.
  • The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card. Paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots.

FAQ

Should I search in Hindi script or Roman transliteration?

Use the exact form that matches the research question. Record it precisely; do not treat a transliteration and a Devanagari query as interchangeable.

Should I capture the whole page every time?

No. Capture the viewport when the first screen is the evidence, and full size when lower results matter. Use area capture for a clearly labeled crop.

Can I claim a keyword ranks at a fixed position in India from one screenshot?

No. Report the observed result, query, settings, time, and session context. A single SERP image represents that observation, not every searcher’s results.
