How to Take a Screenshot on TradingView

Use TradingView’s camera menu or keyboard shortcut to save, copy, share, or print a chart snapshot.

By the ScreenshotNeo team1 October 20266 min read

To take a screenshot on TradingView, open your chart, select the camera icon in the chart’s upper-right area, then choose Save image, Copy image, Copy link, or the X sharing option. On Windows and Linux, press Alt+S. On macOS, press Option+S. TradingView describes this shortcut as taking a snapshot and copying its URL to the clipboard.

Choose the right TradingView screenshot method

What you need Use Result
A file for download or editing Save image An image file saved to your computer
To paste into a message or document Copy image The chart image is placed on your clipboard
A hosted shareable image Copy link A TradingView chart-image URL
Social sharing The X option A post composer for sharing the snapshot

TradingView says a shared snapshot does not expire. The snapshot includes the chart state that is visible when you capture it, including the symbol, timeframe, indicators, drawings, and visible range.

Step-by-step: save a TradingView chart as an image

  1. Open the TradingView chart you want to capture.
  2. Set the symbol and timeframe.
  3. Add or remove indicators, drawings, and other chart annotations.
  4. Adjust the visible range so every required candle or data point is on screen.
  5. Select the camera icon near the top-right of the chart.
  6. Select Save image.
  7. Choose a filename and location in your browser’s download dialog if prompted.

This is the best option when you need a local PNG or another image file for a report, slide deck, archive, or image editor.

Copy a TradingView chart to the clipboard

  1. Configure the chart exactly as you want it to appear.
  2. Select the camera icon.
  3. Choose Copy image.
  4. Paste it into a chat, document, email, presentation, or image editor with your operating system’s normal paste command.

If paste does not work, click inside the destination application first and try again. Some browser pages and security-restricted fields do not accept image clipboard data; paste into an image editor to confirm that the copy succeeded.

  1. Open the chart and set its symbol, timeframe, indicators, drawings, and range.
  2. Select the camera icon.
  3. Choose Copy link.
  4. Paste the URL into a message or browser tab.

A link is useful when the recipient should open the hosted snapshot instead of receiving a file attachment. TradingView says shared snapshots do not expire, but keep the link’s visibility and the chart information it exposes in mind before posting it publicly.

TradingView screenshot shortcut

Operating system Shortcut Documented action
Windows Alt+S Take a snapshot and save its URL to the clipboard
Linux Alt+S Take a snapshot and save its URL to the clipboard
macOS Option+S Take a snapshot and save its URL to the clipboard

If the shortcut does nothing, click the chart first so it has focus, then try again. Browser extensions or operating-system shortcuts can also intercept key combinations.

Include orders, executions, and positions

TradingView has a setting named Orders, executions and positions in screenshots. Enable it before taking the snapshot if the image must show those trade overlays. TradingView states that this setting applies to chart snapshots; it does not change ordinary operating-system screenshots or browser printing.

  1. Open the chart settings or trading display settings.
  2. Enable Orders, executions and positions in screenshots.
  3. Return to the chart and verify that the required overlays are visible.
  4. Use the camera icon or the keyboard shortcut.

Check the final image before sharing: positions and order markers can reveal account activity or strategy details.

For a paper copy, TradingView recommends creating a snapshot first, opening the image in a new tab, and printing that image.

  1. Select the camera icon.
  2. Choose Open image in new tab if that option is available in the snapshot menu.
  3. Print from the image tab using Ctrl+P on Windows/Linux or Command+P on macOS.
  4. Choose the paper size, orientation, scale, and destination printer.

Printing the snapshot image avoids printing the surrounding TradingView page, browser controls, and unrelated panels.

Browser screenshot versus TradingView snapshot

Method Best for Trade-off
TradingView camera menu Clean chart image, clipboard copy, or share link Uses TradingView’s snapshot controls and visible chart state
TradingView shortcut Fast repeated captures Requires the chart to have keyboard focus
Browser or operating-system screenshot Capturing the entire page or additional panels Can include browser chrome, sidebars, alerts, or private information
Print snapshot image Paper or PDF output from the chart image Print quality depends on browser and printer settings

Use the built-in snapshot when you need a chart-focused image or a shareable link. Use an operating-system capture only when the surrounding page is part of what you need to document.

Troubleshooting TradingView screenshots

The camera icon is missing

Make sure you are looking at the chart toolbar rather than a watchlist, screener, or other TradingView panel. Expand the chart area or widen the browser window if toolbar controls are collapsed.

Alt+S or Option+S does nothing

Click the chart to give it focus and retry. Check whether a browser extension, keyboard utility, or another application has claimed the shortcut. The camera menu remains the fallback.

The copied image will not paste

Try pasting into an image editor or document that accepts bitmap data. If that works, the original destination is restricting image clipboard input.

Orders or positions are absent

Enable Orders, executions and positions in screenshots before capturing. This setting affects TradingView snapshots, not normal desktop screenshots.

The chart looks different from the intended setup

Before capturing, verify the symbol, exchange, timeframe, indicators, drawings, session settings, and visible range. A snapshot records the state that is visible at capture time.

The printed page contains the whole TradingView interface

Take a snapshot, open the image in a new tab, and print that image instead of printing the chart page directly.

Automate a TradingView URL with ScreenshotNeo

If you need repeatable captures for many chart URLs, reports, or an application workflow, ScreenshotNeo provides a website screenshot API. Its API can capture PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF output from one GET request. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request parameters and response details.

For a public TradingView page, the basic request is:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://www.tradingview.com -o shot.webp

Python

import requests
r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://www.tradingview.com"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)

Node.js

const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://www.tradingview.com' }); const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);

ScreenshotNeo supports full-page capture, device presets or custom viewports, retina scale, custom CSS and JavaScript, selector-based element capture, wait conditions, request blocking, custom headers and cookies, timezone and geolocation, caching, signed links, asynchronous jobs, bulk capture, and PDF settings. For a TradingView chart, use a wait condition when the page needs time to render, and capture a specific chart element when you do not need the surrounding page.

Or skip the browser setup

ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie and consent banners before capture and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets. Bot checks, blank pages, failed loads, timeouts, and cache hits are not billed; the response reports the page verdict and billing status in X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers. Its MCP server includes take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients.

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://www.tradingview.com -o tradingview.webp

The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card. Paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots, and every feature is available on every plan. Create a free ScreenshotNeo account.
