How to Capture a Website Screenshot in Landscape Mode on iPhone

Rotate your iPhone to capture a website in Safari’s landscape view, or use Full Page for a long page. Here are the steps, button shortcuts, and fixes.

To capture a website as it appears in landscape on iPhone, open it in Safari, turn the phone sideways, then take a regular screenshot. If the screen will not rotate, switch off Portrait Orientation Lock in Control Center first. A regular screenshot saves the visible screen; use Safari’s Full Page option when you need content beyond the screen.

Capture the visible website in landscape

  1. Open the website in Safari and navigate to the page or section you want.
  2. If needed, swipe down from the top-right corner to open Control Center. Turn off Portrait Orientation Lock if it is on, then close Control Center.
  3. Turn the iPhone sideways and wait for Safari’s page layout to rotate.
  4. Take the screenshot: on an iPhone with Face ID, quickly press and release the side button and volume up together. On an iPhone with a Home button, quickly press and release the side button and Home button together.
  5. Tap the screenshot preview if you want to crop, mark up, or share it. Screenshots are saved to Photos by default.

Landscape changes the webpage view so more horizontal content can fit on screen. It does not capture the entire page automatically. Apple’s Safari guide recommends turning iPhone to landscape to see more of a webpage.

Apple documents landscape browsing and Full Page capture separately. Its instructions do not expressly promise that a Full Page capture preserves the landscape layout. Inspect the preview and choose the capture that matches your intended result. Apple says Full Page captures can be saved as an image to Photos or a PDF to Files when those choices are available. See Apple’s screenshot guide.

Fix rotation and screenshot problems

Safari stays in portrait

Open Control Center and check Portrait Orientation Lock. Turn it off, close Control Center, then turn the phone sideways. Apple’s user guide describes the lock button as red when locked and gray when unlocked. If rotation still does not work, try another app that supports landscape, such as Safari or Calculator. Some apps do not support rotation even when the lock is off. Apple’s rotation instructions cover these checks.

The screenshot button combination does not work

Use the combination for your hardware: side plus volume up on Face ID iPhones; side plus Home on iPhones with a Home button. Press and release quickly. Apple also lists AssistiveTouch, Back Tap, and voice command/Siri as alternate ways to take a screenshot.

The screenshot shows only part of the long page

That is expected for a regular screenshot: it captures what is on screen. For a long webpage in Safari, tap the screenshot preview and select Full Page, then review and crop the result.

The page does not look wide enough

Confirm Safari itself rotated before taking the screenshot. If a particular site keeps a narrow layout, the screenshot reflects the layout that site serves at the current viewport; try rotating before navigating to the page or reloading after rotation.

Or skip the browser setup

For a screenshot generated from a URL, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server for developers. Its API can return PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF, and accepts a target viewport and device options. For an iPhone-style landscape capture, set a landscape viewport using the API’s viewport parameters; use the ScreenshotNeo documentation for the current parameter names and options.

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
import requests
r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);

Cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot. Bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status. An MCP server lets AI agents use screenshot tools. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000.

FAQ

Where do iPhone screenshots go?

They are saved to Photos by default. Full Page captures may also offer saving as a PDF to Files.

Can I capture just the visible landscape view?

Yes. Rotate Safari to landscape and take a regular screenshot; it captures the current screen.

Can I use Full Page for a landscape website screenshot?

Full Page is the Safari option for content beyond the screen. Apple’s instructions do not specify that its output retains landscape layout, so check the preview before saving.

What if the app does not rotate?

Some apps do not support rotation. Check the lock setting and try the same rotation in Safari.
