How to Capture a Mobile Website Screenshot After Dismissing a Cookie Banner on iPhone
Dismiss the cookie banner using the website’s own controls, then capture the visible Safari screen or the full page on your iPhone.
Open the page in Safari, dismiss its cookie banner using the choice that website actually provides, then take a screenshot. On an iPhone with Face ID, quickly press and release the Side button and Volume Up together. On an iPhone with a Home button, quickly press and release the Side button and Home together. The screenshot is saved in Photos by default.
Capture the visible Safari screen
- Open Safari and go to the webpage. Wait for the page and its images to load.
- Read the cookie banner and use one of the controls the site presents to dismiss it. Banner wording and choices vary from site to site; there is no universal iPhone button for dismissing cookie banners.
- Scroll to the part of the page you want to show. Turn the phone to landscape if that framing makes the page easier to capture.
- Take the screenshot based on your iPhone’s buttons:
- Face ID model: quickly press and release the Side button and Volume Up at the same time.
- Home button model: quickly press and release the Side button and Home at the same time.
- Use the on-screen screenshot controls to crop, annotate, or share the capture. Screenshots are saved to Photos by default.
Apple’s post-capture interface depends on iOS version. On iOS 26, quick tools appear after capture. In iOS 18 and earlier, a thumbnail briefly appears in the lower-left corner; tap it to edit, or swipe it away. See Apple’s iPhone screenshot instructions and its version-specific screenshot guidance.
Capture a full webpage in Safari
A regular screenshot records what is visible on the display. To include page content below the current viewport:
- Dismiss the banner and take a screenshot using the appropriate button combination above.
- Open the screenshot editor or preview.
- Choose Full Page.
- Review the captured page and crop it if needed.
- Choose Save to Photos for an image, or Save PDF to Files for a PDF.
Full-page capture is useful for sharing or keeping an entire article. Use a visible-screen image when the important detail is a specific part of the page or when you need a quick image in Photos. Apple documents both full-page capture and the image and PDF save options in its screenshot guide.
Get a clean capture when the banner keeps returning
First check whether the site has a different visible control for closing or managing its banner. Cookie choices belong to each website, and the page may show the banner again if it has not stored your choice or if you revisit in a different browser context.
Clearing Safari’s history, cookies, cache, or website data is not required to take a screenshot. Those are browser-data management actions and can remove saved site data or affect permissions. Blocking all cookies can prevent sign-in or interfere with some website features. Only change those settings if managing Safari data is your goal; Apple explains the effects in its guide to Safari history, cache, and cookies on iPhone.
Or skip the browser setup
ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. Its capture flow accepts cookie and consent banners like a visitor, then removes 60+ known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before the shot; each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server gives AI agents tools to take screenshots, get page info, and capture PDFs.
One GET request returns an image or PDF. This cURL example saves a WebP screenshot:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
Python:
import requests
r = requests.get(
"https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot",
params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"},
timeout=90,
)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
Node.js:
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
if (!res.ok) throw new Error(`Screenshot request failed: ${res.status}`);
await Bun.write('shot.webp', new Uint8Array(await res.arrayBuffer()));
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for authentication, output formats, and request options. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up for 1,000 free screenshots a month, with no card.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The screenshot does not appear | The button combination was held too long, or the wrong buttons were pressed. | Use the pair for your hardware—Side and Volume Up for Face ID, or Side and Home for a Home-button iPhone—and press and release quickly. |
| The screenshot editor or thumbnail disappeared | The post-capture preview is temporary on iOS 18 and earlier. | Take another screenshot and tap the thumbnail promptly. On iOS 26, use the quick tools shown after capture. The saved screenshot should also be in Photos. |
| The cookie banner is still visible | The site’s banner was not dismissed, or the page has not updated. | Use the control shown by that particular site, wait for the page to respond, and confirm the banner is gone before capturing. |
| Full Page is missing | The capture may not be from a supported Safari webpage flow, or the screenshot editor is not open. | Take the screenshot from the webpage in Safari, open its editor, and look for Full Page. If you only need the screen currently shown, use the regular screenshot. |
| The full-page capture is too long or contains unwanted content | Full Page captures content beyond the visible display. | Review and crop the capture in the editor, or take a regular screenshot after positioning the page. |
| The site signs you out after changing cookie settings | Clearing or blocking cookies can remove or prevent site data used for sign-in. | Restore the site’s normal cookie behavior if you need its features, and dismiss the banner through the site’s own controls. |
FAQ
Does dismissing a cookie banner accept all cookies?
Not necessarily. The meaning depends on the choices the website displays. Read the controls and select the option that matches your preference.
Can I save the whole page as a picture?
Safari’s Full Page capture can be saved to Photos as an image. It can also be saved as a PDF to Files.
Will rotating to landscape capture more of the page?
Landscape orientation can show more webpage content across the screen, but it does not replace Full Page when you need content beyond the viewport.
