How to Take a Long Screenshot in Chrome on Android
Capture an entire Chrome webpage on Android with Capture more, troubleshoot missing options, and learn when an API is easier.
On Android 12 and later, you can capture a long or scrolling screenshot of a Chrome webpage with the built-in screenshot tool:
- Open the webpage in Chrome.
- Press Power and Volume Down at the same time.
- Tap Capture more in the screenshot toolbar.
- Drag the crop guides until they cover the part of the page you need.
- Save, edit, or share the screenshot.
Google documents this workflow for devices running Android 12 and up, on most screens that allow scrolling. Device manufacturers can change the wording, location, or availability of the control.
What you need
- An Android phone running Android 12 or newer for Google’s documented scrolling-screenshot workflow.
- A Chrome page with content that scrolls vertically.
- Enough free storage for the resulting image.
There is no universal maximum capture length published by Google. The practical limit can vary by device software, available memory, and the page itself.
Step-by-step: use Capture more in Chrome
1. Open the complete page
Navigate to the webpage in Chrome and wait for the content you need to appear. If the page loads more content as you scroll, give it time to finish loading before taking the screenshot.
2. Take a normal screenshot
Press the Power and Volume Down buttons together. On most Android phones this opens a screenshot toolbar at the bottom of the screen.
3. Choose Capture more
Tap Capture more. Android expands the screenshot into a scrollable view and shows crop guidelines.
4. Select the page area
Move the crop handles to include the full article, product page, documentation page, or other content you want. You can stop below the visible viewport and do not have to capture the entire document.
5. Save or share
Use the screenshot controls to save, edit, or share the image. You can later find it in Google Photos → Collections → On this device → Screenshots. Phones without Google Photos generally store it in the manufacturer’s Gallery app, in its Screenshots folder.
When Capture more is unavailable
The control may be missing or work differently in these situations:
| Situation | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Android version is older than 12 | Google’s documented scrolling workflow specifies Android 12 and newer. | Check your phone maker’s instructions for its screenshot feature. |
| The page does not scroll | The extended capture control is intended for scrollable screens. | Confirm that the Chrome page has content below the current viewport. |
| Manufacturer changed the interface | Android skins can rename, move, or replace the control. | Search the manufacturer’s support documentation for scrolling screenshots. |
| A protected or unusual screen is open | Some screens do not expose extended capture. | Try the same steps on a regular, scrollable webpage. |
Google advises checking the phone manufacturer’s support site when the standard method does not work.
Quality and capture limits
- Dynamic content: A page can change while you capture it. Wait for important content to finish loading first.
- Lazy-loaded images: Images that load only after scrolling may be missing or appear late.
- Very long pages: Android does not publish one maximum length that applies to every phone.
- Fixed headers: Sticky navigation can appear repeatedly or overlap content in the final image.
- Storage: A long image is larger than a normal screenshot, so low storage can prevent saving or sharing.
Do-it-yourself checklist
- Use Android 12 or later.
- Open the page in Chrome and verify that it scrolls.
- Press Power + Volume Down together.
- Tap Capture more.
- Adjust the crop guides.
- Save the image and verify it in Photos or Gallery.
Or skip the browser setup
For automated captures, batch jobs, or pages that need consistent rendering, ScreenshotNeo provides a website screenshot API. It removes cookie and consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before the shot. Bot checks, blank pages, failed loads, timeouts, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server lets AI agents such as Claude and Cursor take screenshots.
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for all options.

Troubleshooting
The screenshot toolbar never appears
Make sure both buttons are pressed at the same time. If the phone uses a different button combination, consult the manufacturer’s support instructions.
Capture more is not shown
Check the Android version and confirm that the screen is vertically scrollable. If both are true, the device maker may use a different interface or restrict extended capture on that screen.
The result stops before the bottom
Open the screenshot editor and extend the crop guides if possible. If the page itself stopped loading, wait for network activity and images to finish before repeating the capture.
Images or text are missing
Lazy-loaded content may not have rendered before the capture. Scroll through the page once, wait for images to appear, then try again.
The file cannot be saved or shared
Check available storage and try saving a shorter range. Then look in Google Photos’ Screenshots folder or the manufacturer’s Gallery app.
FAQ
Can I capture an entire Chrome webpage on Android?
Yes, on Android 12 and newer when the screen supports scrolling screenshots. Use Power + Volume Down, then Capture more.
Does this work on every Android phone?
Google says it works on most scrollable screens, but manufacturers can change the controls. Their support documentation is the fallback when the option is missing.
Where is the long screenshot stored?
Usually in Google Photos under Collections → On this device → Screenshots, or in the phone maker’s Gallery app.
Is there a fixed maximum length?
Google does not publish one universal maximum. Limits depend on the device, software, page, and available resources.
