How to Monitor Amazon Product Prices with Keepa Screenshots

Set a Keepa price watch, choose the right offer conditions, and capture clear screenshots that show what you tracked and when.

Use Keepa to view an Amazon product’s price history, choose a target for the offer you actually want, and enable a price or availability alert. Then capture the product page and chart with the marketplace, chart period, relevant series, and target visible. A screenshot records what the page displayed at capture time; it does not guarantee the price or stock status will remain the same.

1. Open the right Amazon listing

  1. Open the product in the Amazon marketplace where you intend to buy it. Offers, prices, and availability can differ between marketplaces.
  2. Install or open Keepa for your platform. Keepa’s Chrome listing describes an interactive price-history chart embedded on supported Amazon product pages. The listing names .com, .co.uk, .de, .co.jp, .fr, .ca, .it, .es, .in, and .mx. The Firefox listing also names .br. Check the current listing for your browser if your marketplace is not listed.
  3. Scroll to or open the Keepa chart. On mobile, Keepa’s Google Play listing describes historical graphs and alerts, including additional data such as sales rank, Buy Box history, and offer counts.

2. Read the chart before setting a target

Identify which visible price series matches the offer you would buy. A recent setup walkthrough describes separate series for Amazon’s own price, Buy Box, the lowest new third-party offer, and the lowest used offer. Series and controls can vary by client, so check the chart legend and your current interface.

  • Seller: Decide whether you want an offer sold by Amazon or a third-party seller. A low price from one seller category may not represent the offer you plan to purchase.
  • Condition: Choose new or used as appropriate. Do not set a target based on a used offer if you are waiting for a new item.
  • Marketplace: Keep the watch on the marketplace where you will buy. A price in one locale does not establish availability or price in another.
  • History and target: Review the visible historical range and normal price movement before choosing a threshold. A threshold should reflect the offer and conditions you care about, rather than an unrelated minimum shown on the chart.

3. Set a Keepa price or availability watch

  1. Use Keepa’s tracking control on the product or in the relevant client.
  2. Enter the target price and select the matching offer scope: marketplace, condition, and seller category where those controls are available.
  3. Choose the tracking duration if the client offers that setting, then start tracking.
  4. Choose a notification method in the Keepa client or account settings. Keepa’s Firefox listing enumerates email, Facebook Messenger, Twitter/X, Telegram, RSS, and mobile push. Keepa’s mobile listing describes price-drop and back-in-stock alerts. Available channels and their setup can vary; confirm current choices in your own client.
  5. For a back-in-stock alert, enable the availability watch if the client offers it for that item. A price threshold and an availability notification answer different questions, so select the one you need.

Button names and exact controls may change between Keepa clients. If you cannot find a control, consult the current extension or app interface and listing rather than assuming every platform presents the same options.

4. Capture a screenshot others can understand

Keep the screenshot informative enough to show what the watch is about. Include, where possible:

  • Product name or other identifying product context.
  • Amazon marketplace or locale.
  • The chart’s visible period and the relevant legend or price series.
  • The target threshold and selected offer conditions, if the interface shows them.
  • The capture date, such as in a filename or accompanying note, if the date is not visible in the page.

Do not crop away the legend or the context that distinguishes Amazon-sold, third-party, new, and used offers. Redact account details, addresses, or other private information before sharing. Treat the image as a record of what was displayed when captured, not proof of a future price, a completed purchase, or a guaranteed alert.

Manual browser capture

  1. Set the browser window wide enough to show the product context and chart.
  2. Expand the chart and select a useful period and series.
  3. Scroll until the product identity, chart, and any visible watch details fit in the capture. If they do not fit together, take separate, clearly labeled screenshots rather than shrinking the page until the chart is unreadable.
  4. Use your operating system’s screenshot shortcut or browser capture feature. Keep the original file and note the capture date and any watch conditions that are not visible in the image.

5. Compare Keepa with Amazon’s price history

Amazon also has a price-history surface. A May 2026 Tom’s Guide report described product-page and Rufus views with 30-, 90-, or 365-day periods, with the 365-day feature reported as rolling out in the US, UK, and India. That is a dated rollout report, not a guarantee of availability to every account or region today.

Need Keepa Amazon history surface
View price history Keepa listings describe historical charts. The reported Rufus feature offered selectable 30-, 90-, and 365-day periods where available.
Set alerts Keepa listings describe target-price and availability alerts. The cited report describes price history; it does not establish equivalent alert behavior.
Marketplace coverage Browser and mobile listings describe supported locales and platforms. The reported feature rollout was geographically qualified; check local availability.

For a screenshot from either interface, identify the product, locale, capture date, period, and price series so another person can interpret it.

Or skip the browser setup

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server for developers. One GET request captures a URL as an image or PDF. See the API documentation for parameters and setup.

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://www.amazon.com/dp/PRODUCT_ID -o shot.webp
import requests

r = requests.get(
    "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot",
    params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://www.amazon.com/dp/PRODUCT_ID"},
    timeout=90,
)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
const q = new URLSearchParams({
  access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY',
  url: 'https://www.amazon.com/dp/PRODUCT_ID',
});
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
if (!res.ok) throw new Error(`Screenshot request failed: ${res.status}`);
await Bun.write('shot.webp', res);

Replace PRODUCT_ID with the product identifier and use the Amazon marketplace URL you want to capture. These calls capture the page URL; they do not configure a Keepa watch or guarantee that a Keepa chart is visible on a page. Cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed. An MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card, and paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Learn about ScreenshotNeo or sign up for 1,000 free screenshots a month, no card required.

Troubleshooting

Problem Likely cause What to do
Keepa chart does not appear The extension may not support that marketplace or page, or it may not be enabled for the site. Check the current browser listing’s supported locales, confirm the extension is enabled, and try the Keepa mobile client if appropriate.
Alert triggers for an unexpected offer The watch may track a different seller category or condition than intended. Review the watch’s marketplace, new/used scope, and Amazon/third-party scope; reset it to match the offer you would buy.
No notification arrives The selected channel may not be configured or available in that client. Review notification settings and the current client’s available channels. Check that the watch is active and its target and duration are correct.
Price or stock differs after capture The screenshot records a page state at capture time; offers can change. Check the live listing and capture a fresh image with the date and marketplace context.
Screenshot omits the chart or legend The page was captured before scrolling, the chart was collapsed, or the viewport was too small. Expand the chart, set a readable viewport, scroll to the relevant section, and capture again.
ScreenshotNeo image is blank or lacks the expected chart The target page may not have loaded the chart before capture, or the chart may depend on extension state in your browser. Check the returned page verdict and response headers, then use the documented wait options or capture the page from a browser with the extension active. A URL capture does not itself install a browser extension or create a Keepa watch.

Performance, reliability, and cost

  • Keepa: Price history and alert availability depend on the client, marketplace, and current interface. Check the listing and settings for your platform. Do not treat a chart or notification as a guarantee that the offer remains available.
  • Screenshots: A full-page capture can be harder to read than a focused capture of the product context and chart. Preserve enough width for the chart legend and avoid cropping away the information that explains the chosen threshold.
  • ScreenshotNeo cost: Free includes 1,000 shots per month with no card. Paid plans are Starter $5 for 3,000, Growth $15 for 15,000, Pro $39 for 60,000, Scale $99 for 250,000, and Business $249 for 1,000,000; yearly billing gives two months free. Every feature is on every plan. Only clean shots are billed: bot checks/CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing. Responses include X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers indicating the result.

FAQ

Can Keepa notify me when an item is back in stock?

Keepa’s mobile listing describes back-in-stock alerts, and its Chrome listing describes watches for products returning to stock. Check the controls and notification choices in the client you use.

Can I use a screenshot as proof of the price later?

No. It shows what was displayed at capture time. Include the date and offer context, then verify the live listing before buying.

Does a ScreenshotNeo capture set up my Keepa alert?

No. It captures a page URL. Set the watch and notification options in Keepa itself.
