How to Print an Entire Web Page in Chrome

Print a complete Chrome page to paper or PDF on desktop and Android, fix missing content, and automate clean captures with ScreenshotNeo.

To print an entire web page in Chrome, open the page, choose File > Print (or press Ctrl+P on Windows/Linux or Command+P on Mac), select a destination, review every preview page, then print. On Android, open the page and choose More > Share > Print; select a printer or Save as PDF.

Chrome’s print preview shows what will actually be sent to the printer or PDF destination. It does not guarantee that every dynamically loaded, interactive, or screen-only element from every website will appear, so inspect the preview before printing.

  1. Open the page in Chrome and wait for the main content to finish loading.
  2. Open the print dialog with one of these methods:
    • Windows or Linux: File > Print or Ctrl+P.
    • Mac: File > Print or Command+P.
  3. Choose the destination, such as a physical printer or an available PDF destination.
  4. Set the options described below.
  5. Check the thumbnails and page count. Look for clipped columns, blank pages, missing images, and sections that stop early.
  6. Choose Print and confirm any system print dialog that appears.

Google documents this desktop workflow in its Chrome printing help.

Settings that affect the result

Setting Use it when What to check
Pages You need all pages or only a range Use All for the complete document; a range prevents unwanted pages.
Copies You need more than one paper copy Confirm collation if your printer offers it.
Layout The page is wide or narrow Landscape can prevent wide tables from being cut off; portrait usually suits articles.
Color Color conveys meaning or you want to reduce ink use Black-and-white can remove distinctions shown only by color.
Paper size Your printer uses a specific sheet size Match the dialog to the loaded paper.
Margins Text is close to the edge or you need more content per sheet Minimum margins may still be limited by the printer.
Scale Content is clipped or too small Reduce scale to fit wide content; increase it only if readability allows.
Headers and footers You want or do not want the URL, title, date, or page numbers Toggle them in More settings when available.
Background graphics Background colors or images carry useful meaning Enable them when needed; they can use more ink.
  1. Open the page in Chrome.
  2. Tap More (three dots), then Share, then Print.
  3. Choose a printer, or select Save as PDF.
  4. If saving a PDF, choose a location and tap Print.

This is the Android route described in Google’s Chrome help. The documented route applies to Android; do not assume the same controls exist on iOS.

Make sure the page really contains everything

“Entire page” means every page shown in print preview, not necessarily every visual state you can see while browsing. Before opening print preview:

  • Wait for loading indicators to finish.
  • Scroll through the page once if sections or images load on demand.
  • Expand accordions, tabs, comments, or “read more” sections that must be printed.
  • Dismiss overlays that cover content.
  • Use the site’s own Print or Export control when it provides one; a print stylesheet may be better than the browser’s generic output.

Check every preview thumbnail. A page can omit navigation, hide controls, reflow columns, or exclude content that exists only after interaction. Chrome’s official instructions describe the print steps, but they do not promise that dynamic or interactive material from every site will be included.

When Chrome prints only part of a page

Lazy-loaded images are missing

Some sites request images only as you approach them. Scroll through the page, wait for images to appear, then reopen print preview. If the page still omits them, use the site’s export function or capture the page after it has fully rendered.

A section, menu, or chart does not appear

Print styles can intentionally hide navigation, dialogs, advertisements, or interactive widgets. Expand the required section before printing and check whether the site offers a printable view. There is no universal Chrome switch that forces every hidden element into print output.

Wide tables are cut off

Switch to landscape, reduce scale, choose a larger paper size, or use the site’s table export. If the table remains wider than the printable area, split it into page ranges or export the underlying data.

Blank pages or unexpected page breaks

Check the preview for an element with a large fixed height, a page-break rule, or a full-width background. Try default margins, 100% scale, and disabling background graphics. If only one site has the problem, its print stylesheet is a likely cause.

The Print command or destination is unavailable

Chrome Enterprise policies can control whether printing, print preview, or destinations are available. On a work or school device, ask the administrator to check the relevant Chrome printing policies instead of assuming Chrome is damaged.

Save a web page as a file instead of printing

If you need an editable or offline copy of the web page rather than paper or a print-rendered PDF, Chrome also provides More > More tools > Save page as. This saves a web-page file and is a separate workflow from printing or PDF export. See Google’s page-saving help for the supported method.

Or skip the browser setup

If you need repeatable screenshots or PDFs from code, ScreenshotNeo provides a website screenshot API and MCP server. One GET request returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF.

cURL

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

Python (API documentation)

import requests
r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)

Node.js

const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);

ScreenshotNeo removes cookie and consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture. Bot checks, blank pages, failed loads, timeouts, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers report the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server lets Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients call take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf. The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots. Create a free ScreenshotNeo account.

Reliability, performance, and cost considerations

  • For a one-off print: Chrome is simplest. Preview is your source of truth, and paper cost depends on your printer and settings.
  • For repeated captures: Automate after content is loaded, choose an explicit viewport and paper or image format, and keep the target URL stable.
  • For long pages: Expect more pages and larger files. Check memory use and output size when processing many documents.
  • For protected or personalized pages: Printing may require an active session and can expose private content to the selected printer or PDF file. Verify the destination.
  • For managed devices: Policy settings can remove destinations or force the system dialog.

FAQ

Is there a “print entire page” button in Chrome?

No universal button is documented. Use File > Print or the keyboard shortcut, then verify the complete preview.

Can Chrome print a page that loads content while I scroll?

Sometimes. Scroll through the page first so lazy content has a chance to load, then inspect the preview. Site code can still omit content.

How do I print only selected pages?

In print preview, enter the page range instead of All, then confirm the thumbnails match the range.

Does Save page as create a PDF?

It saves a web-page file. Use the print dialog and a PDF destination for a print-rendered PDF.

Why does my work computer show a different print dialog?

An administrator policy may make Chrome use the system print dialog or restrict destinations. Contact the device administrator.
