How to Print an Entire Webpage in Microsoft Edge
Print every page of a long website in Microsoft Edge, fix clipping and missing backgrounds, and save a full-page image when paper is not the goal.
To print an entire webpage in Microsoft Edge, open the page, press Ctrl+P on Windows or Command+P on macOS, choose All under Pages, adjust paper and layout settings, review the preview, and select Print. The All setting prints the complete paginated document instead of only a selected range.
Print the whole webpage in Edge
- Open the webpage or web app document in Microsoft Edge and wait for its content to finish loading.
- Open the print dialog with Settings and more (…) > Print. You can also right-click an empty area of the page and choose Print.
- Use Ctrl+P on Windows or Command+P on macOS as a shortcut.
- In Pages, select All. Do not select a custom range unless you intentionally want only part of the document.
- Choose the destination printer or Save to PDF, depending on whether you need paper or a digital file.
- Open More settings and choose the paper size, orientation, margins, and scale.
- Check the preview from the first page through the last page. Look for clipped columns, missing colors, blank pages, and content that is too small to read.
- Select Print or save the PDF.
Choose the right print settings
| Setting | Use it when | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Pages: All | You need the complete document. | Long pages may use many sheets. |
| Fit to printable area | The page is wider than the printer’s usable region. | Edge reduces the content so it fits; text can become smaller. |
| Actual size | Preserving the webpage’s original scale matters most. | Wide content can clip or continue onto additional pages. |
| Custom scale | You need a specific percentage after checking the preview. | You must balance readability and page count yourself. |
| Portrait | The page is mostly text or narrow columns. | Wide tables and dashboards may wrap or clip. |
| Landscape | The page contains wide tables, charts, or multiple columns. | Portrait-oriented content can leave more unused space. |
| Background graphics | Colors, shaded sections, or background images are part of the information. | Uses more ink or toner. |
| Headers and footers | You want dates, page numbers, or document details on the printout. | Adds content around the page and reduces usable space. |
Choose a paper size supported by your printer. Common options include Letter, Tabloid, Legal, Executive, A3, A4, B4 (JIS), B5 (JIS), and envelope sizes. If the preview shows the right edge cut off, try landscape orientation, a wider paper size, larger margins, or Fit to printable area.
Print a long webpage across multiple pages
Edge automatically divides a document that is longer than one sheet into multiple pages. Select All, then use the preview thumbnails or page counter to confirm that the final section is present. A long page may contain lazy-loaded images or interactive sections that appear only after you scroll. Scroll through the page first so important content has a chance to load, then open Print again.
For a readable report:
- Use Portrait for ordinary articles and Landscape for wide tables.
- Start with Fit to printable area when the page extends beyond the paper width.
- Turn on Background graphics if colors or diagrams disappear in the preview.
- Turn on Headers and footers only when page numbers or dates are useful.
- Print one test page before sending a large job to the printer.
Print a cleaner version with Immersive Reader
When ads, navigation, recommendation panels, or other surrounding elements make the printout hard to read, open the page in Immersive Reader and print that simplified view. On supported pages, select the Immersive Reader icon in the address bar or press F9, then start printing from the reader view.
Immersive Reader is not available for every website. If the icon does not appear, use the normal print view, adjust the page’s own print options, or print a saved PDF after checking its preview.
Save the entire webpage as one image
Printing creates a paginated paper or PDF document. If you need one continuous image for documentation, review, or sharing, use Edge’s Screenshot feature instead:
- Open the page in Edge.
- Open Screenshot from the right-click menu or from Edge’s settings.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S where the shortcut is available.
- Choose the full-page capture option rather than the visible-area selection.
- Copy or save the resulting image.
Screenshot availability and behavior can vary by device type, market, and browser version. Use print when you need paper-sized pages; use a full-page capture when you need one shareable image.
Or skip the browser setup
For automated captures, ScreenshotNeo returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF from one GET request. It can capture a full page, load lazy images, select an individual element, set a viewport or device preset, use dark mode, and control paper size, margins, orientation, and page ranges for PDFs. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for the complete option list.

ScreenshotNeo accepts custom CSS and JavaScript, clicks an element before capture, waits for a selector, delay, or network idle, hides selectors, blocks ads or selected resource types, and supports custom headers, cookies, user agents, Authorization, timezone, geolocation, transparent backgrounds, resizing, caching, signed image links, asynchronous jobs with signed webhooks, bulk capture of up to 100 URLs per call, usage reporting, and an OpenAPI specification. Its parameter names also match those used by other screenshot APIs, which can simplify migration.
Cookie and consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot. Bot checks, blank pages, failed loads, timeouts, and cache hits are not billed; response headers identify the page verdict and whether the request was billed. An MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients. The Free plan includes 1,000 shots per month without a card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots. Create a free ScreenshotNeo account.
Troubleshooting Edge full-page printing
The right side is cut off
Set orientation to Landscape, choose a larger paper size, increase margins if the printer requires them, or select Fit to printable area. Use Actual size only when preserving scale is more important than fitting the width.
Only the visible section prints
Confirm that Pages is set to All and that the webpage itself has not selected text or a print range. Scroll through the page first if lower sections load only as you reach them, then reopen the print dialog.
Colors or background images are missing
Open More settings and enable Background graphics. Some sites deliberately remove backgrounds in their print stylesheet, so compare the preview with the original page.
The preview is blank or fails to load
Retry the print command and select the printer again. Restart Edge if its print preview or built-in PDF viewer is unavailable. Test another website. If other sites work, the original page may contain damaged graphics, fonts, scripts, or print styles.
The printer does not respond
Print a test page from Word or another application. If multiple applications fail, investigate the printer driver, Windows, hardware, connection, paper, or ink. If only Edge fails, update the printer driver and retry Edge.
The printout contains ads or navigation
Use Immersive Reader when the site supports it. Otherwise, check the preview carefully and use the site’s print view if one is provided.
Performance, reliability, and cost considerations
- Preview first: A long page can consume many sheets, ink, or toner. Print one page before a large batch.
- Fit versus readability: Fitting a very wide page onto narrow paper reduces its scale. Landscape or larger paper may produce a more readable result.
- Dynamic pages: Wait for charts, images, and expandable sections to finish loading before opening Print.
- Digital archive: Save to PDF when you need a searchable, paginated record without using paper.
- One continuous image: Use Screenshot when page continuity matters more than paper layout.
- Automated volume: A screenshot API avoids keeping a browser open for every URL and can provide retries, waiting rules, caching, and bulk requests. ScreenshotNeo bills only clean captures and exposes the billing verdict in response headers.
FAQ
What setting prints an entire webpage in Edge?
Choose All in the Pages control. Edge then prints every page in the document’s print layout.
Should I use Fit to printable area or Actual size?
Use Fit to printable area when the page must stay inside the sheet. Use Actual size when original scale matters and extra pages or clipping are acceptable.
Can Edge print a webpage as one long sheet?
Normal printing is paginated. For one continuous artifact, use Edge Screenshot for a full-page image or save a PDF and handle it as a digital document.
Why does Immersive Reader not appear?
Immersive Reader is supported only on some websites and page types. When it is unavailable, use the standard print dialog or the site’s own print view.
How can I automate full-page captures?
Use a screenshot API such as ScreenshotNeo with a URL, access key, and capture options. It supports full-page images and PDFs, waits, custom page controls, and an MCP server for AI agents.
