How to Save an Awesome Screenshot Capture as a PDF
Save a cloud or locally stored Awesome Screenshot capture as a PDF, including full-page captures and fixes for a missing PDF option.
To save an Awesome Screenshot capture as a PDF, first check where it was saved. For a capture saved to AwesomeScreenshot.com Cloud, open More beside the capture and select Download as PDF. For a capture saved locally, select PDF beside the screenshot. If that option is missing, turn off Auto-download screenshots in the extension’s Options. The default download location is your Downloads folder. Awesome Screenshot’s PDF instructions document both routes.
Choose the right export route
| Where the capture is saved | What to do | Where the PDF goes |
|---|---|---|
| AwesomeScreenshot.com Cloud | Open More beside the capture, then choose Download as PDF. | Your browser’s download location, normally Downloads. |
| Locally on your computer | Choose PDF beside the screenshot. | Your browser’s download location, normally Downloads. |
Save a cloud capture as a PDF
- Open the cloud-saved capture in AwesomeScreenshot.com.
- Select More beside the capture.
- Choose Download as PDF.
- Open the downloaded file from your browser’s downloads list or the Downloads folder.
If you want to store the PDF somewhere else, use your browser’s download controls or change its default download location.
Save a locally stored capture as a PDF
- Capture the page or screen with the Awesome Screenshot extension. Open the extension, choose Capture, select a capture mode, and optionally annotate the result.
- Save or finish the capture.
- Select PDF beside the screenshot.
- Find the file in Downloads, or in the folder configured in your browser.
The local PDF control may not appear while Auto-download screenshots is enabled. Open the extension’s Options, turn off that setting, and capture again. Then select PDF beside the local screenshot. The extension’s current interface may use slightly different labels; consult the official PDF help page if you cannot find the setting.
Export a full-page capture
Make the full-page capture first, then use the cloud or local PDF export steps above. The command depends on the browser:
- Chrome, Edge, and other browsers that support Chrome extensions: choose Capture, then Full Page.
- Safari: choose Capture Full Page.
- Firefox: choose Capture Entire Page.
These browser-specific commands are listed in Awesome Screenshot’s full-page capture instructions. Once the capture is ready, export it as a PDF according to where it was saved.
Troubleshooting
| What you see | Likely cause | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| No PDF option beside a local screenshot | Auto-download screenshots is enabled. | Turn off auto-download in the extension’s Options, then capture again and look for PDF. |
| You cannot find the downloaded PDF | The file went to the browser’s configured download folder. | Check the browser’s downloads list and configured download location. Downloads is the default described by the help page. |
| The capture is not full-page | A regular capture mode was selected. | Capture again using the full-page command for your browser, then export the resulting capture. |
| The cloud menu does not show the documented label | The extension or website interface may have changed. | Check the current official PDF help instructions and confirm that you opened More for the cloud capture. |
What to know about the exported PDF
The documented workflow explains how to download the capture as a PDF, but it does not specify whether the PDF contains searchable text or what resolution it uses. Do not assume those properties without checking the downloaded file for your use case. The documented process does not require a printer, paper, or other physical product.
Or skip the browser setup
If your goal is to capture a web page as a PDF through an API, ScreenshotNeo accepts one GET request with a URL and can return a PDF. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. For a PDF request, add format=pdf to the request.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" \
-d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY \
--data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com \
-d format=pdf \
-o page.pdf
import requests
r = requests.get(
"https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot",
params={
"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY",
"url": "https://stripe.com",
"format": "pdf",
},
timeout=90,
)
r.raise_for_status()
with open("page.pdf", "wb") as f:
f.write(r.content)
const q = new URLSearchParams({
access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY',
url: 'https://stripe.com',
format: 'pdf',
});
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
if (!res.ok) throw new Error(`Screenshot request failed: ${res.status}`);
const fs = await import('node:fs/promises');
await fs.writeFile('page.pdf', Buffer.from(await res.arrayBuffer()));
