How to Save a Web Page from the EPFO Portal as a PDF for Office Records

Save an EPFO passbook with its official PDF download, or print another portal page to PDF. Check the saved file before filing it for office records.

For an EPF passbook, use EPFO’s Download Passbook option when it is available; that gives you the passbook PDF rather than a browser printout. For another page in the EPFO portal, open your desktop browser’s Print dialog, choose a PDF destination, review the preview, and save.

Use the official EPFO member and passbook services. Interfaces and service availability can change, so follow the labels currently shown after signing in.

Choose the right PDF method

Browser printing does not turn a generic portal page into an EPFO-issued record. If your office needs a particular official document, use the portal’s own download for that document when available.

Download an EPF passbook as a PDF

  1. Navigate to EPFO’s official passbook service and sign in through the official site.
  2. Open the relevant member’s passbook.
  3. Look for Download Passbook and select it if available. EPFO’s passbook manual documents this option as a way to download a PDF. The manual describes an older interface, so the current menu wording or placement may differ.
  4. Save the downloaded file using the browser’s download prompt or its normal download location.
  5. Open the PDF and confirm it is the intended passbook and that the necessary entries and pages are present.

If you cannot find the option, check EPFO’s current passbook service or its official employee-service listings. EPFO also identifies the UMANG app and Pass Book portal as routes for the Member Passbook service; which route is available can depend on the account and current service access.

  1. Sign in through the official EPFO member portal and open the page you need to keep.
  2. Wait for the content you need, including tables or status details, to appear.
  3. Open the browser’s Print dialog. In desktop Chrome, press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+P on Mac.
  4. Choose a PDF destination when one is offered. The destination name and available settings vary by operating system and browser.
  5. Review the preview. Check the page count, orientation, page range, and whether tables or important content are cut off.
  6. Save the PDF, then open it and verify the saved file before filing it.

Chrome’s print dialog lets you select a destination and adjust print settings. Other browsers and devices may use different shortcuts and labels. If your device does not offer a PDF destination, use an available system PDF-print option or access the portal on a desktop browser that offers one.

Check the PDF before filing it

  • Confirm that the PDF is the intended page or passbook and that the retrieval date or relevant period is clear.
  • Check that required text, dates, status details, and table columns are visible and readable.
  • Make sure no required content was omitted by the selected page range or split awkwardly across pages.
  • Use a clear filename, such as epfo-record-2026-10-04.pdf, following your office’s naming rules.
  • Store it in your organization’s approved records location. Avoid putting UAN, Aadhaar, PAN, or other sensitive identifiers in the filename unless office policy requires it.

A browser-created PDF records what was visible and printable at the time. It does not prove that EPFO validated or issued that particular PDF.

Common problems and fixes

Problem Likely cause What to try
The passbook download control is missing The portal interface may have changed, or you may be on a different page or service Use the official passbook service and inspect its current controls. EPFO’s available manual is older, so its menu labels may not match today’s interface.
The page preview is blank or incomplete The page may not have finished loading, or some content may not print Wait for the required content, reload if appropriate, and open Print again. Check the preview before saving.
A table is clipped or hard to read The page is wider than the selected paper layout or the browser scaled it poorly Try landscape orientation, adjust print scaling if available, or use a narrower page range. Recheck readability in the preview.
The saved PDF is missing pages or details A limited page range was selected, or content was absent from the rendered page Check the range and preview, save again, then inspect the actual PDF.
The portal is slow or temporarily unavailable Access may be delayed or the service may be stabilizing Try again later and check current notices on EPFO’s official portal. Its public member portal has reported phased service availability and possible longer processing during stabilization; notices can change.

Privacy and office-record handling

Use only EPFO’s official login and service pages. The passbook login page warns users not to share personal or financial details or OTPs, and cautions against payment requests made by callers. Do not send your credentials or one-time codes to anyone helping with a PDF. Keep the resulting file in the location and access controls your organization approves.

Or skip the browser setup

For a public web page, ScreenshotNeo can return a screenshot or PDF with one API request. It is a website screenshot API and MCP server for developers. It is not a way to access a private EPFO account: do not send login credentials, OTPs, or sensitive member pages to a third-party capture service. Use EPFO’s native passbook download for an official passbook.

For a public page, here are the requested client examples. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for configuration and options.

cURL

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

Python

import requests

r = requests.get(
    "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot",
    params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"},
    timeout=90,
)
r.raise_for_status()
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)

Node.js

const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
if (!res.ok) throw new Error(`ScreenshotNeo returned ${res.status}`);
await Bun.write('shot.webp', res);

ScreenshotNeo removes cookie and consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, with response headers identifying the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf for AI agents. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Never use it to capture a signed-in EPFO page containing private records.

Frequently asked questions

Is a browser-printed PDF the same as an official EPFO passbook PDF?

No. Use EPFO’s passbook download when you need the passbook document. Printing another page saves a copy of its browser-rendered appearance.

Can I save only selected pages?

If the print dialog offers a page-range setting, choose the needed pages and verify the range in the preview.

What if EPFO’s portal looks different from the instructions?

Follow the current official portal labels. The EPFO manual that documents Download Passbook is an older version, and the portal can change.

Can I use a screenshot API for my EPFO account page?

Do not send private account pages, credentials, or OTPs to a third-party service. Use EPFO’s own passbook download or print the page locally while signed in.
