How to Save an EPFO Passbook Webpage as PDF for Records in India
Download the official EPFO passbook PDF for your records, or use your browser’s print dialog to save a snapshot of the page you see.
If you need a record of your EPF transactions, use EPFO’s own passbook PDF download when it is available. If you specifically need a PDF snapshot of the webpage currently displayed in your browser, use the browser’s print-to-PDF option. These are different outputs: the passbook download is the intended financial record, while print-to-PDF captures a rendered page and may omit interactive or off-screen content.
Choose the right PDF
| Your goal | Use this method |
|---|---|
| Keep a copy of your EPF passbook statement | EPFO’s Download Passbook or PDF control |
| Save the page as it appears in your browser | Browser print-to-PDF |
EPFO’s member FAQ and older UAN Member Portal manual document a Download Passbook route. Their menu labels may have changed, so treat those instructions as guidance rather than a guarantee of the current screen layout. EPFO Member FAQ · UAN Member Portal User Manual.
Download the official EPFO passbook PDF
- Open the official EPFO Member Passbook portal. Check that the address belongs to the official
epfindia.gov.inservice before entering credentials. - Sign in using your UAN and password.
- Find the passbook download control. EPFO’s documented workflow is to open Download, choose Download Passbook, and then use the PDF link. The current interface can differ from the older FAQ and manual.
- Open or save the PDF. Check that it contains the member and transaction information you need, then use a descriptive filename such as
EPF-passbook-2026-10-04.pdf. - Keep the file somewhere private. A passbook contains personal financial information; avoid casually uploading it or sending it through an untrusted channel.
EPFO also indicates that members can access the passbook service through the UMANG app. If the portal is unavailable, you can retry later or use that officially indicated channel; availability and notices can change. See the EPFO Member Home.
Save the displayed webpage as a PDF in Chrome
Use this when you want a snapshot of what the browser displays rather than the passbook statement provided by EPFO.
Chrome on Windows or Linux
- Open the passbook page you want to preserve.
- Press Ctrl+P to open print. Chrome’s keyboard shortcut reference documents this shortcut.
- In the print destination options, select an available PDF destination, such as Save as PDF.
- Inspect the preview. Check the page count, orientation, margins, scaling, and whether important information is missing or clipped.
- Choose Save, select a private folder, give the file a useful name, and save it.
Chrome on Mac
- Open the page and press Command+P.
- Choose a PDF destination in the print dialog. The exact control can depend on the macOS version and available printer destinations.
- Review the preview and save the resulting PDF to a private location.
Chrome on Android
- Open the page in Chrome.
- Tap More, then Share, then Print.
- Choose Save as PDF, select a storage location, and save.
Google documents the desktop and Android print flows in Print from Chrome on a computer and Print from Chrome on Android. Menu wording and destinations may vary by browser version and operating system.
Before you save
- Confirm which record you need: choose the official passbook PDF for a statement; print-to-PDF is a page snapshot.
- Check the output: inspect every page in the preview or saved PDF for cut-off columns, missing sections, or blank pages.
- Use a useful filename: include the record type and save date so you can identify it later.
- Protect the file: store it in a private account or device location and share it only when necessary.
- Do not share credentials: EPFO’s passbook login page warns, “Please never respond to any call for sharing any personal details like Aadhaar, PAN, Bank details, OTP or request for any payment.” EPFO also says it never calls members or pensioners to deposit an amount. Read the warning on the EPFO passbook login page.
Or skip the browser setup
For pages you are authorized to capture, ScreenshotNeo can return a screenshot or PDF through one API request. It is a website screenshot API and MCP server for developers. The code below captures a webpage as WebP; see the ScreenshotNeo documentation for output and capture options.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
import requests
r = requests.get(
"https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot",
params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"},
timeout=90,
)
r.raise_for_status()
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
if (!res.ok) throw new Error(`Screenshot request failed: ${res.status}`);
await import('node:fs/promises').then(fs => fs.writeFile('shot.webp', Buffer.from(await res.arrayBuffer())));
ScreenshotNeo removes cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture. Bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed. Its MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. For an EPFO financial record, prefer EPFO’s own passbook PDF when available and keep sensitive documents private.

Troubleshooting
| Problem | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The passbook portal does not load | Temporary service or access issue | Retry later or use the UMANG channel that EPFO identifies. Do not repeatedly submit credentials or trust unofficial pages claiming to fix access. |
| You cannot find Download Passbook | The interface may have changed from the legacy FAQ/manual | Look for the current passbook PDF/download control after signing in, or consult EPFO’s official help information. Do not assume a browser printout is the official statement. |
| The PDF destination is missing | Your browser or device may expose PDF saving differently | Check the print dialog’s destination or share menu for a PDF option; on Android Chrome, use More > Share > Print and choose Save as PDF. |
| The printout is cut off or incomplete | Page layout, scaling, or interactive content may not print as expected | Review the preview, try a different orientation or scaling option, and confirm all needed content is present. For the actual statement, use EPFO’s passbook download. |
| The saved file is blank | The page may not have finished rendering or may not print its interactive content | Wait until the page is fully displayed and retry. If you need transaction records, use the official PDF control instead. |
Reliability, privacy, and recordkeeping
A downloaded EPFO passbook PDF is the appropriate choice when you need the passbook record itself. A browser-generated PDF depends on the rendered page and print behavior, so it can differ from the official statement. Keep a dated copy in a private location and check that it opens and includes the required information. Do not send anyone your UAN, password, OTP, Aadhaar, PAN, or bank details in response to a call or payment request; follow the warning on EPFO’s portal.
Frequently asked questions
Can I view or download my passbook?
EPFO’s member FAQ documents a passbook download workflow. Sign in through the official passbook service and use its current PDF or download control when available.
Is a browser printout the same as the official passbook PDF?
No. The official download is the passbook record; print-to-PDF is a snapshot of the rendered page and may omit content.
Can I use UMANG if the passbook portal is unavailable?
EPFO’s member information identifies UMANG as another passbook access channel. Check official EPFO information for current availability.
Should I send my passbook PDF to someone who calls?
No. EPFO warns against sharing sensitive personal or financial details and OTPs in response to calls, and against payment requests.
