To save a FireShot webpage capture as a PDF instead of an image, capture the page, then choose PDF in FireShot’s save or export options. Before capturing, choose whether you want the entire page, only the visible area, or a selected region. The exact menu labels can vary by browser and FireShot version.

FireShot supports PDF export as well as image formats. Its product page says PDF captures can include direct links and searchable text; the Chrome Web Store listing also describes PDF output and several capture scopes. FireShot’s product page and Chrome Web Store listing describe the available options.

Save a webpage as a PDF in FireShot

  1. Open the webpage you want to keep in the browser where FireShot is installed.
  2. Open the FireShot extension icon or its capture menu.
  3. Select the capture scope that matches what you need:
    • Entire page: captures content beyond the currently visible browser area.
    • Visible area: captures what is currently displayed in the viewport.
    • Selected region: captures the portion of the page you select.
  4. When the capture is ready, choose the save or export option and select PDF instead of PNG, JPEG, or another image format.
  5. In the file dialog, choose a filename and destination, then save the PDF.

If the PDF choice is not on the first screen, look for a save, export, or format control after the capture. Menu wording and placement may differ by version.

Which capture scope should you choose?

Scope Choose it when Check before saving
Entire page You need the page’s scrollable content in one capture. Review long pages for missing or repeated sections.
Visible area You only need what is currently on screen. Scroll to the section you want before capturing.
Selected region You need one particular part of the page. Make sure the selection includes the full content you want.

FireShot’s store listing describes these capture scopes. It also lists some advanced options, such as split-page PDFs and captures of scrolling areas, among upgrade features. Availability depends on the version and plan shown in your extension; check the options available in your own menu.

What to expect from the PDF

FireShot’s product page describes PDF output with direct links and searchable text. That can be useful when you want a document you can search or whose links remain available. The result is still based on a browser capture, so inspect the saved file before relying on it: confirm that the important content is present, links work as expected, and page breaks are acceptable.

If you only need a record of what was visible on screen, a visible-area capture may be enough. If you need scrollable content, choose entire-page capture. For a document intended for printing or reflow, compare the exported PDF with your needs rather than assuming it will match the browser’s print layout.

Can FireShot save directly to PDF?

There is a platform and plan caveat for bypassing an image-save or preview step. In a FireShot support thread answered on July 23, 2025, a support administrator said the shortcut to save a full-page capture directly as PDF was available on Windows in the Pro version. In the same thread, the administrator said it was not available on Firefox running Debian Linux at that time, and that adding it to other platforms was under consideration. Treat that as dated support guidance, not a guarantee for every current version or operating system. Read the FireShot support response and check your current extension menu.

If your version does not offer a direct-to-PDF shortcut, use the general workflow: capture the page, then choose PDF in the save or export options.

Troubleshooting

Problem Likely cause What to do
PDF is not visible in the initial capture menu Format selection may appear after the capture, or under a save/export control. Complete the capture, then inspect the resulting save and export options for PDF.
The saved file is an image An image format was selected during export. Capture again and explicitly choose PDF in the format options before saving.
The PDF contains only what was on screen Visible-area capture was selected. Choose the entire-page scope if you need scrollable page content.
A direct-save option is missing That shortcut may depend on platform, plan, and extension version. Use capture-then-export, and check the current FireShot menu and plan details. The July 2025 support response specifically distinguished Windows Pro from Firefox on Debian Linux.
Part of a long page is absent or repeated Long-page capture can be affected by the page’s layout or changing content. Try capturing again after the page has finished loading, inspect the output, or capture the needed sections separately.

  • Cookie and consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets are removed before capture; each step can be turned off.
  • Bot checks, blank pages, failed loads, timeouts, and cache hits are not billed. Response headers report the page verdict and billing status.
  • An MCP server gives AI agents tools to take screenshots, get page information, and capture PDFs.
