To save a GoFullPage capture as a PDF, open the webpage in Chrome, click the GoFullPage camera icon, wait for the full-page capture to finish, then choose Download PDF in the result view. You can also right-click the completed screenshot and choose Save PDF As…. GoFullPage captures a page by scrolling through its visible sections and stitching them into a full-page image. GoFullPage’s guide documents the capture and PDF download flow; its right-click guide documents the alternate save command.

Save a webpage as a PDF with GoFullPage

  1. Open the webpage you want to capture in Chrome. GoFullPage captures webpages; it cannot scroll-capture a PDF open in Chrome’s protected PDF viewer.
  2. Click the GoFullPage camera icon. If you do not see it in the toolbar, open Chrome’s Extensions menu (the puzzle-piece icon) and select GoFullPage.
  3. Wait while the extension scrolls through the webpage and stitches the visible portions into one full-page capture. Keep the tab open until the result view appears.
  4. In the result view, click Download PDF. When Chrome asks where to save the file, choose a folder and confirm.

GoFullPage’s usage guide summarizes the start of the workflow: “Just click on the GoFullPage camera icon to give it a try.” Follow the visible controls in your installed version if their layout differs.

Use the right-click menu instead

After the capture is complete, right-click the screenshot in the result view and choose Save PDF As…. This is an alternative to the Download PDF button. The documented Ctrl+S (Windows) or Cmd+S (Mac) shortcut saves the screenshot image; the guide does not identify it as a PDF-specific shortcut, so use the PDF button or menu command when you need a PDF.

Adjust PDF and download preferences

Open GoFullPage’s Options page to review capture and download preferences. The extension documentation identifies PDF size and save-dialog behavior as configurable there. If you need a particular paper size or want to change how the save prompt behaves, check those settings before capturing. The documented sources do not establish that the button and context-menu routes produce different quality, so choose either route that is convenient.

When capture or PDF export does not work

Symptom Likely cause What to try
The camera icon is missing The extension may be hidden in Chrome’s Extensions menu. Open the puzzle-piece menu and select GoFullPage. You can pin the extension if you want its icon in the toolbar.
The capture seems stuck or the page is incomplete The page may use custom scrolling, or content may load as the page scrolls. Allow the capture to finish. If it repeatedly fails on that site, consult the official FAQ, which lists custom site scrolling as a possible capture problem.
You are trying to capture a PDF tab Chrome’s protected PDF viewer prevents GoFullPage from accessing the document for scrolling capture. Use a webpage as the capture source. The documented GoFullPage workflow does not support full-length scrolling capture of a PDF already open in that viewer.
You cannot find a PDF save option The screenshot may not yet have opened in the result view, or you may be using the image save shortcut. Wait for the result view, then use Download PDF or right-click and choose Save PDF As….
The saved file has an unexpected size or save prompt PDF size and save-dialog preferences are controlled in the extension’s options. Open the GoFullPage Options page, review the PDF and download preferences, and capture again.

Capture details to keep in mind

  • Use a webpage URL, not a PDF viewer tab. GoFullPage’s scrolling capture is intended for webpages. Chrome’s protected PDF viewer blocks access needed for this method.
  • Wait for stitching to finish. The extension scrolls through the page and assembles the visible sections, so navigating away before the result appears can interrupt the workflow.
  • Long or unusual pages may need another attempt. Custom scrolling behavior is identified in the official FAQ as a possible issue. Page content that appears only after scrolling can also affect what is visible during capture.
  • Use the PDF controls, not the image shortcut. Ctrl+S or Cmd+S is documented for saving the screenshot image, while the PDF export is exposed through the result view and its context menu.

Or skip the browser setup

If you need to capture webpages from a script or service, ScreenshotNeo provides a website screenshot API and an MCP server. A single GET request returns an image or PDF. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for options and response details.

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
import requests

r = requests.get(
    "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot",
    params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"},
    timeout=90,
)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);

These examples return a WebP screenshot; consult the docs for requesting PDF output and the other capture options. ScreenshotNeo removes cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets before the shot. Bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed. Its MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card, and paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots.
