Save an Indian Government Exam Result Webpage as a PDF on Desktop Chrome
Use Chrome’s print dialog to save an exam result page as a PDF, check the preview and find the file. Learn what to do if the page is incomplete or hard to read.
To save an Indian government exam result webpage as a PDF in desktop Chrome, open the result page, press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or ⌘+P on Mac, choose Save as PDF as the destination, review the print preview, and save the file. Check the saved PDF afterward to make sure the result details are legible.
Use Print → Save as PDF when you need a PDF rendition of the page. Chrome’s separate Save page as command saves the webpage itself, not a PDF. Chrome Help: print from Chrome and Chrome Help: download a file.
Steps to save the result as a PDF
- Open the official result page. If the result requires a candidate number, date of birth, or another detail, complete the exam authority’s form first. Result pages and access steps vary by board, exam, and year.
- Open the print dialog. Press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or ⌘+P on Mac. You can also open Chrome’s menu and choose Print.
- Choose the PDF destination. In the print dialog, select Save as PDF.
- Review the preview. Check that the candidate details and result are present, readable, and not clipped at the edges or split in a confusing way. Adjust the available print settings if needed.
- Save the file. Choose the destination folder and filename when prompted. Depending on your Chrome download settings, Chrome may save to a default folder or ask where to save each download.
- Open the saved PDF. Verify the details and context in the file before relying on it.
Choose the right Chrome save option
| Chrome action | What it creates | Use it when |
|---|---|---|
| Print → Save as PDF | A PDF laid out as printable pages | You need a portable PDF copy of the result page |
| More → More tools → Save page as | A saved webpage, rather than a PDF rendition | You specifically need to save the webpage itself |
For a PDF copy, choose Print → Save as PDF. The preview matters: a site may not format its page neatly for printing, even when the browser can generate a PDF.
Check the PDF and understand what it represents
Government exam results are published by different authorities, and their pages and document policies differ. Results.gov.in is a gateway to results from examination bodies, including boards, universities, councils, and entrance examinations; use the relevant authority’s page for the result itself.
A PDF saved from Chrome preserves a printable rendering of what the page displayed at that time. It does not, by itself, authenticate the result or make the PDF an official marksheet. For example, the CBSE results page says online results are for immediate information and are not original mark sheets. Check the current notice on your own exam authority’s portal rather than applying that specific CBSE statement to every exam.
Find the PDF after saving
Chrome uses either a default download folder or a setting that asks where to save each file. Check Chrome’s download list and the configured download location if you cannot find the PDF. The file may have the name you chose in the save dialog, or a browser-generated name if you left it unchanged. Chrome Help explains how to find downloads and manage download settings.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Likely cause | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| The print preview is blank or missing the result | The result may not have loaded, or the page may rely on content that did not appear in the printable view. | Wait for the result to appear on the page, confirm it is visible, then reopen Print. If it remains missing, check whether the authority offers a separate result or print option. |
| Text, marks, or candidate details are cut off | The webpage’s layout does not fit the selected printable page size. | Inspect the preview and adjust the print settings Chrome offers. If the content still clips, check for an official download or print option on the exam portal. |
| The PDF is hard to read | The print layout may have scaled down or split content across pages. | Review the preview before saving and try the available layout or page settings. Reopen the PDF to confirm readability. |
| Chrome saved the file somewhere unexpected | Chrome may be using a default download folder instead of asking for a location. | Look in Chrome’s Downloads list, then check the download location in Chrome settings. |
| The result page asks for details or does not open | The exam authority may require candidate-specific information, or its portal may have different access steps. | Follow the instructions on the official exam authority’s current page. Do not assume another board’s login fields or process apply. |
| The PDF is being treated as proof of an official marksheet | A browser-created PDF is a copy of page content, not automatically an authority-issued document. | Read the exam body’s notice and use its official marksheet or certificate process when required. |
Or skip the browser setup
If you need a screenshot of a publicly accessible result page, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server from Yorker Media. One GET request can return a screenshot or PDF. Its clean-capture steps accept cookie or consent banners and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; you can turn each step off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server gives AI agents tools to take screenshots, inspect page information, and capture PDFs. The Chrome steps above are still the straightforward choice for a result page you have opened and can print directly.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://results.gov.in/ -o result.pdf
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for the available parameters. For the PDF output, use the API’s PDF options as documented.
import requests
r = requests.get(
"https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot",
params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://results.gov.in/", "format": "pdf"},
timeout=90,
)
r.raise_for_status()
open("result.pdf", "wb").write(r.content)
const q = new URLSearchParams({
access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY',
url: 'https://results.gov.in/',
format: 'pdf',
});
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
if (!res.ok) throw new Error(`ScreenshotNeo request failed: ${res.status}`);
await Bun.write('result.pdf', new Uint8Array(await res.arrayBuffer()));
These examples capture the Results.gov.in gateway page; replace the URL with the specific publicly accessible result page you need. Do not send candidate credentials or private result data to an API unless you are authorized to do so and have checked the service’s data-handling terms.
ScreenshotNeo includes 1,000 shots per month free with no card. Paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots; every feature is available on every plan. Sign up for 1,000 free screenshots a month, with no card.
Frequently asked questions
Can I save only the result details instead of the whole page?
Chrome’s print preview may include other page content along with the result. Check the preview and any print controls provided by the exam portal for a more focused output.
Will the PDF stay valid if the online result changes?
The PDF is a saved copy of what the page displayed when you printed it. Check the exam authority’s current portal for the latest result and rules about official documents.
Does every Indian government exam portal use the same result process?
No. Results.gov.in links to multiple examination bodies, and individual portals set their own access steps and document notices. Follow the current instructions for the relevant exam.
