How to Save an Indian University Admission Page as PDF

Save a public admission page as a PDF from Chrome, or download the official PDF for a submitted application from the university portal.

To save a public Indian university admission page as a PDF, open it in a desktop browser, choose Print, select Save as PDF as the destination, inspect the preview, and save the file. On Android, Chrome’s route is More → Share → Print → Save as PDF. If you need a copy of an application you already submitted, first look for the admissions portal’s own download or print option: it may create an official application PDF that browser printing does not reproduce.

1. Decide which PDF you need

There are two common requests behind “save admission page as PDF,” and they call for different methods:

What you need Best first step What the PDF represents
A public admission notice, eligibility page, schedule, or instructions Print the page from your browser and save it as a PDF A snapshot of the webpage as it appeared when printed
A submitted application, receipt, confirmation, or application status Sign in through the university’s official site and find its download or print control A portal-generated document associated with your application
An official brochure or admission guide linked from the page Open the linked PDF and download it The university’s original document

A browser printout is useful for offline reference. It does not submit an application, certify a document, or replace a portal-generated file when the university asks for one. Follow the institution’s instructions if you need a formal copy.

2. Save a public admission page from a computer

  1. Open the admission page in Chrome, or another desktop browser with a print dialog. If the information is behind a login, reach the portal from the university’s official website and sign in there.
  2. Wait for the page to finish loading. Expand any sections containing information you need. If a timetable, notice, or admission guide is a separate PDF link, download that original file as well.
  3. Open the print dialog. In Chrome, use File → Print, Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or ⌘+P on Mac. Google documents these desktop print controls; destination labels and available settings can vary by system. Google Chrome Help: Print from Chrome on a computer.
  4. Choose a PDF destination. Depending on the browser and operating system, this may be called Save as PDF or appear as a PDF printer.
  5. Inspect the print preview. Check that the notice’s dates, eligibility details, links or contact information you need, and any tables are present and readable. Look for clipped text, missing sections, blank pages, and awkward page breaks.
  6. If needed, adjust available print settings such as portrait or landscape orientation, paper size, margins, or scale, and inspect the preview again. Settings and their effects vary across browsers and websites.
  7. Select Save, choose a folder, and use a descriptive filename, such as university-admission-notice-2026.pdf.
  8. Open the saved PDF and confirm the pages are present and legible. Keep the original page URL and the date you saved it with your notes if you may need to check for later updates.

These steps follow Chrome’s documented print workflow. A site’s layout controls how the page breaks, so previewing the result matters. Google Chrome Help.

3. Save the page in Chrome on Android

  1. Open the admission page in Chrome and wait for its content to load.
  2. Tap More → Share → Print.
  3. In the print screen, select Save as PDF.
  4. Choose where to save the PDF and complete the save action.
  5. Open the saved file from that location and check that the pages and text are readable.

These are Chrome-on-Android instructions; menus differ in other browsers, on iPhones, and across operating-system versions. Google Chrome Help: Print from Chrome on Android.

4. Download a submitted application from the admission portal

For an application that has already been submitted, sign in through the university’s official admission site and inspect the dashboard for Application Status, Download, Print, or a download icon. Save the portal’s PDF if one is provided, then open it to verify that it matches the application you intended to keep.

For example, Gujarat Common Admission Services (GCAS) tells applicants to use the blue download icon under Application Status to download a submitted application as a PDF for printing. That is a GCAS-specific instruction; it does not describe every Indian university portal. GCAS FAQ · GCAS application guidelines.

Portal instructions can depend on the institution and admission cycle. Goa’s Directorate of Higher Education, for instance, provides a cycle-specific admission guide and application instructions on its admissions page. Check the current notice for the university and program you are applying to. Goa Directorate of Higher Education admissions.

5. Choose the right method for common cases

  • Public notice or instructions page: use browser print-to-PDF, then check the preview and saved file.
  • Application already submitted: use the portal’s own download or print control first.
  • A PDF is linked on the page: download the linked original; it may preserve the institution’s intended layout better than printing its surrounding webpage.
  • You need a copy for an official process: check the university’s instructions for the required document. A browser-generated copy may not be accepted in place of a portal-generated application or confirmation.
  • You are saving a page for reference: include the institution or program and the year in the filename, and note that a saved page can become outdated if the university updates its online notice.

6. Troubleshooting

Problem Likely cause What to try
The PDF is missing a section that appears on the webpage The section may be collapsed, loaded only after interaction, or omitted by the site’s print layout. Expand the section and wait for it to load before printing. Check whether the university offers a separate downloadable notice or guide. Review the preview before saving.
Text or a table is cut off The page may be wider than the selected paper or the print scaling may be unsuitable. Try landscape orientation or a different scale or margin setting if available, then inspect the preview again. If the information is in a linked PDF, use that file.
The preview contains blank pages or strange page breaks Webpage layout and print pagination do not always align. Check page range and orientation, adjust available scale or margins, and preview again. If the result remains hard to read, look for an official downloadable document.
You cannot find the PDF you saved The file may have been saved to a different folder or device location than expected. Check the destination you selected in the save dialog or Android print flow, then open the file from that location.
The portal dashboard does not show a download option The control may appear only after a particular submission step, or the portal may use a different label. Check the portal’s instructions and dashboard sections such as Application Status or submitted forms. Contact the institution through its published admissions channel if the required document is unavailable.
The saved application details look incomplete or incorrect You may have printed the visible browser page rather than downloading the portal’s generated application PDF, or the application may not be at the expected status. Check the application status and use the portal’s official download control if available. Do not treat a browser printout as proof of successful submission.

7. Reliability, privacy, and keeping a useful record

  • Verify the result: reopen the PDF after saving. Confirm the relevant text, page count, and readability instead of assuming the preview and saved file are identical.
  • Keep current information: admission dates, instructions, and linked documents can change. A PDF is a snapshot, not a live copy of the page.
  • Protect application details: submitted forms can contain personal information. Save them to a location you control and be careful when sharing or uploading them.
  • Use official access paths: navigate to login pages from the institution’s official website, especially before entering application credentials.
  • Preserve originals: if the portal generates an application PDF or the page links to an official guide, keep that file alongside any browser printout.

8. Automate webpage capture when you need repeatable files

If you are a developer archiving public admission notices, browser automation can print a page to PDF. This Python example uses Playwright. Install its package and Chromium first with python -m pip install playwright and python -m playwright install chromium, then save the script as save_page.py and run python save_page.py. Replace the example URL with a public page you are allowed to access.

import asyncio
from pathlib import Path
from playwright.async_api import async_playwright

URL = "https://example.com/admissions"
OUTPUT = Path("admission-page.pdf")

async def main():
    async with async_playwright() as p:
        browser = await p.chromium.launch()
        page = await browser.new_page()
        await page.goto(URL, wait_until="networkidle", timeout=60000)
        await page.pdf(
            path=str(OUTPUT),
            format="A4",
            print_background=True,
            prefer_css_page_size=True,
        )
        await browser.close()

asyncio.run(main())

This script prints a public page using Chromium’s PDF support. It does not sign in, bypass access controls, or guarantee that a site’s dynamically loaded content or print styling will be complete. For authenticated pages, use the institution’s documented download flow; do not put passwords or applicant data into an unattended script.

Equivalent Node.js example

Install Playwright with npm install playwright and install Chromium with npx playwright install chromium. Save as save-page.mjs and run node save-page.mjs.

import { chromium } from 'playwright';

const url = 'https://example.com/admissions';
const browser = await chromium.launch();
const page = await browser.newPage();

try {
  await page.goto(url, { waitUntil: 'networkidle', timeout: 60_000 });
  await page.pdf({
    path: 'admission-page.pdf',
    format: 'A4',
    printBackground: true,
    preferCSSPageSize: true,
  });
} finally {
  await browser.close();
}

If the university page links directly to a PDF, download that file rather than printing the webpage. These commands save a publicly accessible PDF URL; replace the example URL with the actual link. They do not convert an HTML page into a PDF.

curl -L "https://example.com/admission-guide.pdf" -o admission-guide.pdf
import requests

url = "https://example.com/admission-guide.pdf"
response = requests.get(url, timeout=60)
response.raise_for_status()

with open("admission-guide.pdf", "wb") as pdf:
    pdf.write(response.content)

9. Or skip the browser setup

For a quick website capture, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. Its API can return PDF captures as well as PNG, JPEG, or WebP; see the ScreenshotNeo documentation for the PDF request configuration. The one-call example below returns a WebP screenshot of the page; use the documented PDF option when you need a PDF.

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://example.com/admissions -o shot.webp
import requests

r = requests.get(
    "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot",
    params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://example.com/admissions"},
    timeout=90,
)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
const q = new URLSearchParams({
  access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY',
  url: 'https://example.com/admissions'
});
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);

ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie and consent banners like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers report the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server lets AI agents use screenshot, page-info, and PDF-capture tools. The free plan includes 1,000 shots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots. For a PDF, consult the docs for the supported PDF settings rather than treating the WebP examples above as PDF output.
