How to Get a Screenshot API Invoice in India Without GST Registration

You can request a commercial invoice or receipt without a GSTIN. Whether it is an Indian GST tax invoice depends on the supplier and the document’s tax details.

Short answer: You can ask a screenshot API provider for a commercial invoice or payment receipt even if you do not have a GSTIN. Your GSTIN is not what determines whether the supplier can issue an invoice. Whether the document is an Indian GST tax invoice depends on the supplier’s registration and the applicable tax rules. Ask the provider to identify the legal entity that supplied the service and clarify whether it charged Indian GST.

This guide explains how to request and check the document. The provider is not named in the question, so do not assume that ScreenshotOne—or any other particular service—is your vendor. The official ScreenshotOne documentation describes account and API-key access, but does not establish that its account has a billing-invoice download feature or specify where one would be found. ScreenshotOne’s getting-started documentation and API-key documentation concern API access; they are not confirmation of its India billing arrangements.

1. Commercial invoice or GST tax invoice?

People use “invoice” to mean different things. A commercial invoice or receipt records a purchase and payment. A GST tax invoice is a specific tax document governed by GST rules. Receiving a commercial invoice does not by itself mean the supplier charged Indian GST, and the lack of your GSTIN does not by itself tell you what document the supplier can issue.

CBIC’s Rule 46 material says a tax invoice under the rule is issued by a registered person and lists required particulars, including the supplier’s name, address and GSTIN, invoice number and date, and supply details. It also specifies recipient details in certain cases where the recipient is unregistered. Check the supplier’s details and the document rather than assuming that the buyer must have a GSTIN for every invoice. CBIC: Tax Invoice, Credit and Debit Notes

The supplier’s location, customer type and transaction facts can affect the tax treatment. CBIC registration rules include special categories, such as non-resident taxable persons and certain overseas suppliers of online information and database access or retrieval services. The phrase “screenshot API” alone is not enough to determine whether a supplier falls into one of those categories or what it must charge. CBIC: Registration Rules

2. Request the invoice from the actual provider

  1. Identify the provider and payer account. Find the service name on your payment confirmation or card statement, then use the email address or account that paid for the subscription or usage.
  2. Check the account. Look under billing, invoices, usage or payment history for a downloadable invoice or receipt. This is a practical place to look; the available ScreenshotOne API documentation does not verify a billing-page location.
  3. Ask support if there is no download. Request the document for the relevant billing period and give the account email, payment date, amount and transaction reference. Ask which legal entity supplied the service, its country, whether Indian GST was charged, and which tax identifiers apply.
  4. Keep the records together. Save the invoice or receipt alongside the payment confirmation and any support reply. Confirm that the amount and currency match the payment record.

Subject: Invoice or receipt for screenshot API subscription

Hello,

Please send me an invoice or payment receipt for my screenshot API
subscription for [billing period]. The account email is [account email].
The payment was [amount and currency] on [date], with reference
[transaction reference].

Please confirm:
- the legal name and country of the entity that supplied the service;
- whether Indian GST was charged on this transaction;
- any applicable supplier tax registration number and tax details; and
- whether the document is a commercial invoice/receipt or an Indian GST
  tax invoice.

My business is not registered for GST, so I do not have a GSTIN to provide.
Please let me know what recipient details you can record without one.

Thank you.

Share only the payment and account details the provider needs to locate the transaction. Do not send passwords or API secrets in a support request.

3. Check the document when it arrives

Use these checks to reconcile the purchase and understand what the provider issued. They are practical checks, not a determination of tax eligibility.

Check What to look for
Supplier identity Legal entity name and country. If the document claims Indian GST, check the supplier GSTIN and tax details shown.
Document type Does it say commercial invoice/receipt, or represent itself as a GST tax invoice?
Transaction Invoice or receipt number, issue date, service description and billing period, where provided.
Amounts Currency, total, and any separately stated tax. Compare these with the payment confirmation.
Recipient Your name or business name and address, if included. Ask the provider what recipient information it can record without a GSTIN.

If a document shows Indian GST, but the supplier or tax details are unclear, ask the provider to explain the charge and identify the issuing entity. Do not add GST yourself, fill in a supplier GSTIN, or relabel a receipt as a GST tax invoice. If the document will support a tax return or an input-tax-credit claim, consult an Indian tax professional about your specific facts. This article does not determine GST liability, eligibility or filing treatment.

4. If the provider has no invoice download or GSTIN field

  • Ask support for a commercial invoice or receipt for the payment period.
  • Explain that you are not GST-registered and have no GSTIN; ask whether the field is optional or whether recipient details can be recorded another way.
  • Request the supplier’s legal entity, country, and a written explanation of any tax charged.
  • Keep the provider’s answer with the payment record. If you need a formal tax conclusion, get advice based on the actual supplier and transaction.

An account setup or API guide is not evidence of where a vendor stores billing documents, whether it issues India-specific tax invoices, or whether it requires a GSTIN. The GST e-invoice API portal describes taxpayer-oriented integration and GSTIN registration; it does not mean a buyer needs a GSTIN merely to request a commercial receipt. GST e-Invoice Portal

If you also need screenshots from an API, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server from Yorker Media. This is separate from getting an invoice from your current provider: ask the provider that charged you for its billing document. ScreenshotNeo offers a one-request screenshot call; see the API documentation.

Common problems

Problem Likely reason What to do
The account has no invoice download The provider may not expose billing documents in the account, or you may be in the wrong account. Check the payer email and payment record, then ask support for the invoice or receipt.
The provider asks for a GSTIN A form may be designed for registered business customers, or the field may be optional for your case. Tell support you are unregistered and ask whether it can issue a commercial invoice with your available recipient details. Do not invent a GSTIN.
The receipt has no Indian GSTIN It may be a commercial receipt or an invoice from a supplier that has not provided Indian GST details. Ask which legal entity supplied the service and whether Indian GST was charged. Do not call it an Indian GST tax invoice based on the word “invoice” alone.
The currency or amount differs from your card charge The provider’s invoice and payment processor statement may show different currencies, conversion or timing. Ask the provider to reconcile the billed amount and compare the invoice with the payment confirmation. Keep both records.
The document is addressed to the wrong person or account The purchase may have been made under another team member’s account or billing profile. Contact the provider with the payment reference and ask whether it can correct the recipient details.
A provider says GST applies, but gives no explanation The document may not make the supplier identity or tax basis clear. Request the issuing entity, applicable tax identifiers and an itemized explanation. Seek tax advice if the treatment affects a filing.

Frequently asked questions

Can I download the invoice without a GSTIN?

You can request the provider’s commercial invoice or receipt without one. Whether a vendor’s download flow permits it depends on that vendor; ask support if the form blocks you.

Does every screenshot API issue an Indian GST tax invoice?

No conclusion about an unnamed provider follows from the product category. Ask the actual supplier which entity billed you and how it treated the transaction.

Can I claim input tax credit with a receipt that has no GSTIN?

This article cannot determine that. The document type, supplier and transaction facts matter. Ask an Indian tax professional before relying on a document for a claim.

Is a screenshot API’s PDF feature the same as a billing invoice?

No. A PDF capture feature generates a PDF of web content; it does not establish that the provider offers downloadable subscription invoices.
