How to Screenshot an Entire Web Page on iPhone Safari
Capture a full Safari webpage on iPhone, crop it, and save it as an image or PDF. Includes troubleshooting and a browser-free option for developers.
To screenshot an entire webpage in iPhone Safari, take a screenshot, tap its thumbnail, choose Full Page, then save it to Photos as an image or to Files as a PDF. On Face ID iPhones, press and quickly release Side + Volume Up; on iPhones with a Home button, press and quickly release Side + Home.
Steps to capture a full Safari webpage
- Open the webpage in Safari and wait for the content you need to appear.
- Take a screenshot: press and quickly release Side + Volume Up on a Face ID iPhone, or Side + Home on an iPhone with a Home button.
- Tap the screenshot thumbnail while it is visible. In the preview, select Full Page.
- Inspect the long-page preview. Drag within it to review content farther down the page.
- Optionally tap the crop control and adjust the handles to trim the capture.
- Choose where to save it: use Save to Photos for an image, or Save PDF to Files and select a Files location for a PDF.
The Full Page option captures content beyond the visible screen, including an entire webpage in Safari. The exact placement of controls can vary with the iOS version and Safari interface.
Choose an image or PDF
| Output | Choose it when | Save destination |
|---|---|---|
| Image | You want a picture-based capture that is easy to view or share. | Photos |
| You want a document-style file or intend to mark it up. | Files |
If your goal is to annotate a webpage as a PDF, Apple also documents a Safari workflow through the page menu or Share control: choose Markup, annotate, then save. Menu labels and placement may differ by Safari tab layout and interface version. See Apple’s screenshot instructions and its guide to annotating and saving a webpage as a PDF.
Other ways to take the screenshot
If pressing the hardware buttons is inconvenient, Apple also lists Siri, AssistiveTouch, and Back Tap as alternate ways to take an iPhone screenshot. After taking it, open the thumbnail and select Full Page as above.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The screenshot only shows the visible screen. | The screenshot was saved from the initial preview without switching to the full-page view. | Tap the thumbnail and select Full Page before saving. |
| The thumbnail disappeared before you opened it. | The screenshot preview is temporary. | Take another screenshot and tap its thumbnail promptly. |
| The capture is longer than needed. | Full Page includes content beyond the viewport. | Use the crop control and handles in the preview before saving. |
| You cannot find the saved capture. | The destination depends on which save option you chose. | Check Photos for an image or the selected location in Files for a PDF. |
| You do not see the same menu labels. | Safari’s layout and controls vary by iOS version and tab layout. | Look for the page menu or Share control, and consult Apple’s current iPhone guide for your interface. |
| Some page content is missing or not fully loaded. | The page may load content as you scroll or may not have finished loading before capture. | Wait for the page to load, scroll through the relevant area if needed, then capture again. The exact behavior depends on the webpage. |
Limitations and practical tips
- The Full Page workflow is specifically useful for content such as a webpage that extends beyond the screen. It does not guarantee that every interactive or dynamically loaded element will appear exactly as it does during browsing.
- Review the preview before saving, especially on long pages, and crop out unrelated browser or page content if needed.
- Choose PDF when a document-style saved file or markup is useful; choose Photos when you need an image.
- This built-in workflow requires no additional app, accessory, or paid service.
Or skip the browser setup
For developers who need a webpage capture from code, ScreenshotNeo provides a screenshot API and MCP server. Its API accepts one GET request with a URL and can return PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
import requests
r = requests.get(
"https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot",
params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"},
timeout=90,
)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
if (!res.ok) throw new Error(`Screenshot request failed: ${res.status}`);
await Bun.write('shot.webp', res);
Replace YOUR_API_KEY with your key and change the target URL. ScreenshotNeo removes cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets before the capture. Bot checks, blank pages, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and the response includes page-verdict and billing headers. Its MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up for 1,000 free screenshots a month, no card required.
