How to Capture Screenshots of a Web App Behind an Indian Bank Login

Capture only the bank page details you need with built-in Windows or Mac tools, then protect the image like other sensitive financial information.

Short answer: If the bank permits the capture, use the screenshot controls built into your computer while the page is open. On Windows 10 or 11, press Windows+Shift+S and select the relevant area. On a Mac, press Shift+Command+5 and choose a window, full screen, or selected portion. Avoid installing a browser extension for this basic task. Before saving or sharing the image, make sure it does not expose credentials or unnecessary financial details.

Before you capture a banking page

  1. Use your own trusted, updated computer and a private network. Check that the bank site uses HTTPS and that you are on its genuine domain. Indian Bank advises customers to check HTTPS and avoid online transactions over public or open Wi-Fi; this is that bank’s published advice, not a claim about every bank’s policy. Indian Bank cyber-safety guidance.
  2. Open only the page or transaction status you need. Close unrelated tabs and position the page so the relevant information can be captured without exposing other content.
  3. Check the frame for passwords, PINs, OTPs, security answers, full account or card numbers, and other people’s information. Indian Bank warns: “Never write down or disclose your user ID passwords or PIN. Bank never asks for user ID/passwords/ PIN/ Card No/CVV.”
  4. Check your bank’s terms and any on-screen instructions. Banks and pages can differ. If capture is blocked or disallowed, do not work around the restriction; use the bank’s approved statement, confirmation, or evidence process.

Windows: capture a selected part of the page

Windows 10 and 11 include Snipping Tool. Microsoft documents Windows+Shift+S as the shortcut to open the screen capture controls. Microsoft’s Snipping Tool instructions.

  1. With the bank page visible, press Windows+Shift+S.
  2. Choose a rectangular snip for a transaction or status section. Choose a window or full-screen snip only if you need the larger view.
  3. Drag around the information to retain. Review the selected area before saving.
  4. Open the snip notification or Snipping Tool, save the image to a folder only you can access, and give it a neutral, useful filename.

If your keyboard shortcut is unavailable, open Snipping Tool from the Start menu and start a new capture. The image may first be copied to the clipboard; paste it into an image editor or the Snipping Tool to save it.

Mac: capture a window or selected area

macOS provides Screenshot controls. Apple documents Shift+Command+5 for selecting a full-screen, window, or portion capture. Apple’s screenshot instructions.

  1. With the page open, press Shift+Command+5.
  2. Choose capture of the entire screen, a window, or a selected portion. For a transaction detail, select only the needed portion where possible.
  3. Capture, then use the thumbnail or the selected save location to review and store the image.
  4. Choose a restricted folder instead of a shared photo library or cloud location if the screenshot contains account details.

For a quick selected-area capture, Shift+Command+4 is also available on Mac. If you need a specific file location or other options, use the Screenshot controls opened with Shift+Command+5.

Redact and share the screenshot carefully

  1. Keep an unedited original secured if you may need it later. Make a separate copy for sharing.
  2. On the copy, cover account identifiers and unrelated personal information with a solid, opaque redaction in an image editor. Cropping out a field is preferable when the surrounding context is not needed.
  3. Export the redacted copy as a flattened image, reopen it, and inspect it at full size. Check that digits are not visible and that the redaction is part of the exported image, not a movable overlay or annotation.
  4. Share only through a recipient-approved private channel. Avoid public links or shared folders, and remove extra copies when they are no longer needed.

A screenshot can be useful as a personal record, but the image alone does not establish what happened in a banking dispute. If it matters as evidence, preserve the original and note when and how it was captured and handled. RBI guidance says digital evidence should withstand integrity challenges, with handling carefully tracked and suitably authenticated; it does not make every consumer screenshot conclusive. Or skip the browser setup

For a public page that does not require your bank login, ScreenshotNeo can return a screenshot with one GET request. Do not send bank credentials, session cookies, OTPs, or private logged-in pages to a screenshot service. Use the bank’s own approved record route for authenticated banking content.

Install the HTTP client with python -m pip install requests, then run this Python example for a public page:

import requests

r = requests.get(
    "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot",
    params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"},
    timeout=90,
)
r.raise_for_status()
with open("shot.webp", "wb") as image:
    image.write(r.content)

ScreenshotNeo API documentation. cURL and Node.js equivalents:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
if (!res.ok) throw new Error(`Screenshot request failed: ${res.status}`);
await Bun.write('shot.webp', res);

ScreenshotNeo removes cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets before the shot. Bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed. Its MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. Troubleshooting

Problem Likely cause What to do
The shortcut does nothing The keyboard layout, remote desktop, or device settings intercept the keys. Open Snipping Tool from Start on Windows or Screenshot from Mac’s Applications/Utilities. On Mac, check keyboard shortcuts in System Settings.
The capture contains other windows or private details A full-screen mode was selected or the page was not framed first. Discard that copy, close unrelated windows, and recapture a selected region. Securely remove unwanted copies if appropriate.
The image is only on the clipboard The capture workflow copied the snip without saving a file. Open the snip notification or paste into an image editor, then save it to a restricted location.
Bank page blocks capture or turns blank The app, browser, or bank may restrict capture for security. Do not defeat the restriction. Request a statement or confirmation through the bank’s approved channel.
Redacted information is still recoverable A translucent mark, editor overlay, or layered file was shared. Use an opaque redaction, export a flattened copy, reopen it, and verify at full size before sharing.

Performance, reliability, and privacy notes

  • Prefer a small capture. A selected region is faster to review and reduces accidental disclosure compared with a full desktop image.
  • Do not rely on the screenshot as the only record. If the record matters, retain the bank’s downloadable statement or confirmation too, where available.
  • Protect the file like financial data. Store it in a private location, avoid automatic shared libraries, and limit recipients.
  • Do not upload private banking sessions to a screenshot API. These steps use local operating-system capture. ScreenshotNeo’s API example above is for a public page only.

Frequently asked questions

How do I take a screenshot of my net banking page?

On Windows, press Windows+Shift+S; on Mac, press Shift+Command+5. Select just the needed page area and check for sensitive details before saving.

How can I screenshot a bank transaction without showing my account number?

Frame only the transaction details if possible. If the account number remains visible, redact it on a separate copy with an opaque mark, export a flattened image, and inspect the result before sharing.

Can I take a screenshot of an online banking page?

It depends on the bank’s terms and the page’s controls. The cited guidance does not establish a universal permission rule. If capture is blocked or disallowed, ask the bank for an approved way to obtain the record.

Does a screenshot prove a bank dispute?

Not by itself. RBI guidance supports careful preservation and documented handling of digital evidence; it does not say that a consumer screenshot is automatically conclusive.
