How to Screenshot a Long Webpage on a School Chromebook in India
Capture what is visible with Chromebook Screen Capture, or use an approved extension when you need one image of a long, scrolling webpage.
On a school Chromebook, press Shift + Ctrl + Show windows to open Screen Capture, then choose full screen, partial area, or window. This captures the display or a selected region; it does not create one image of everything down a long, scrolling webpage. For a full-page image, an optional Chrome Web Store extension such as GoFullPage advertises scrolling capture and PNG, JPG, and PDF export. Check your school’s rules and the extension’s permissions before installing it.
Choose the result you need
| Your goal | Use | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Capture what is currently on screen | Chromebook Screen Capture | A full-display, window, or selected-area screenshot |
| Put the entire scrolling page in one image | An approved full-page capture extension | A tall image or, depending on the extension, a PDF |
| Submit or keep a document rather than an image | Chrome print or save workflow | A printout or saved page; layout depends on the site |
On a Chromebook, “full screen” means the display. Google’s built-in capture options are full screen, partial area, and window; they do not describe scrolling through a webpage to capture its entire length. See Google’s Chromebook screenshot instructions.
Take a standard Chromebook screenshot
- Open the webpage and bring the content you need into view.
- Press Shift + Ctrl + Show windows. The Show windows key is on the Chromebook keyboard; if you do not recognize it, open Screen Capture from the quick settings menu. Use a dedicated screenshot key if your model has one.
- Choose Full screen, Partial screenshot, or Window screenshot. For a partial screenshot, select the area to capture. Google’s instructions also describe using Space to change capture mode and keyboard controls to adjust the selection.
- Open the saved image from Downloads, the default save location. The screenshot is also copied to the clipboard. You can change the save folder in capture settings.
Google’s keyboard shortcut guide also lists Ctrl + Show windows for a screenshot and Shift + Ctrl + Show windows for a partial screenshot. Keyboard layouts and available controls can vary, so the Screen Capture menu is a useful way to confirm the mode on your device. See the Chromebook keyboard shortcuts guide.
Capture one long, scrolling webpage
If the required output is one tall image of the whole page, use a full-page capture extension only if it is allowed on your school Chromebook. The Chrome Web Store listing for GoFullPage describes full-page capture and PNG, JPG, and PDF export. That listing describes the extension’s advertised features; it does not establish that your school permits installation or that every page will capture perfectly.
- Check your school’s device and extension rules. On a managed Chromebook, installation may be restricted. If you are unsure, ask your teacher or school administrator before adding an extension.
- Review the extension’s requested permissions and decide whether they are appropriate for the pages you need to capture.
- If installation is allowed, open its Chrome Web Store listing and follow the browser’s installation steps. If the install control is unavailable or blocked, do not try to bypass the restriction; ask the administrator about an approved method.
- Open the page, start the extension’s full-page capture, and choose an offered export format. Check the resulting image for missing content, unexpected page breaks, or parts that loaded only after interaction.
Long pages can load content as you scroll, and pages with dynamic content or access restrictions may not produce a complete result. Review the captured file before submitting or sharing it. Do not assume the extension can capture content that requires a login, is blocked, or appears only after an interaction.
Use print or save when an image is not required
If your assignment accepts a document, press Ctrl + P to open Chrome’s print workflow. You may be able to print or save the page as a PDF. Press Ctrl + S to save the current page. These are print and save options, not screenshot commands, and the output depends on how the webpage is built. Google lists both shortcuts in its keyboard shortcut guide.
Chromebook tablet mode
On a supported Chromebook in tablet mode, press Power + Volume down to take a screenshot. This is a standard screenshot of the display, not a capture of the whole scrollable webpage. See Google’s screenshot instructions.
Or skip the browser setup
If you need a webpage screenshot from a script or another computer, ScreenshotNeo takes a screenshot through one API request. Its website screenshot API and MCP server are made by Yorker Media. For the API parameters and response details, see the ScreenshotNeo documentation.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
import requests
r = requests.get(
"https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot",
params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"},
timeout=90,
)
r.raise_for_status()
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
if (!res.ok) throw new Error(`Screenshot request failed: ${res.status}`);
await Bun.write('shot.webp', new Uint8Array(await res.arrayBuffer()));
Replace the example URL with the page you are authorized to capture and provide your API key. ScreenshotNeo removes cookie and consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, failed loads, timeouts, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers report the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server offers screenshot tools for AI agents. The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month without a card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots. All features are on every plan. A cloud screenshot API is intended for developer workflows and does not replace a school-approved Chromebook method for a student’s assignment.

Troubleshooting
| Problem | Likely cause | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| The screenshot shortcut does not open capture controls | The key combination or keyboard layout differs, or the shortcut was pressed incorrectly. | Open Screen Capture from quick settings. If your Chromebook has a dedicated screenshot key, use it. |
| The image shows only part of the long webpage | The built-in full-screen mode captures the display, not the full scrollable page. | Use an extension approved for your school device, or capture separate visible sections if extensions are unavailable. |
| The extension cannot be installed | Your school may manage the device or restrict extensions. | Follow school policy and ask the administrator about approved options. Do not bypass device restrictions. |
| The full-page image is missing sections | Some page content may load only during scrolling, after a delay, or following an interaction. | Check the page and resulting file carefully. If allowed, try again after the page finishes loading and after revealing the content you need. |
| The screenshot is hard to find | It may have been saved to a different folder, or you may be looking only at the clipboard. | Check Downloads and the capture settings for the selected save folder. Paste into an app if you need the clipboard copy. |
| The printout or PDF layout differs from the webpage | Print rendering can differ from the interactive page. | Preview the print result before saving or submitting it. Use a screenshot method if the assignment specifically requires an image. |
Practical notes for school use
- Choose the output first: a visible-screen screenshot, a single image of the scrolling page, and a PDF are different results.
- Respect device management: schools can manage Chromebook features and extension installation. Google documents that administrators can disable Screencast for managed users; that illustrates management controls but does not tell you your school’s specific extension policy. See Google’s Screencast management guidance.
- Check permissions and privacy: review extension permissions and follow school rules, especially for school accounts or pages containing other students’ information.
- Verify the file: open the screenshot or PDF and confirm it includes the information needed before submitting it.
- India-specific behavior: the documented Chromebook shortcuts above are general Chromebook instructions; the cited guidance does not establish different steps for India.
