How to Take a Screenshot of a Subscriber-Only Indian Magazine Article After Login
After logging in, use your phone’s built-in screenshot controls. Learn the iPhone and Android steps, what to do when capture is blocked, and how to save a long article.
After signing in and opening the article, take a screenshot with your phone’s built-in controls. On most Android phones, press Power and Volume Down together. On an iPhone with Face ID, quickly press and release Side and Volume Up together; on an iPhone with Touch ID, use Side and Home. Some magazine apps block screenshots. If capture is blocked or produces a blank image, use the publisher’s approved saving or reading options rather than trying to bypass the restriction.
A successful login lets you read under the magazine’s subscription terms. It does not automatically give you permission to share or republish a screenshot. Check the specific publisher’s terms before distributing an image.
Android: take a screenshot after logging in
- Sign in to the magazine’s official app or website and open the article you want to preserve.
- Press the Power and Volume Down buttons at the same time, then release them.
- Tap the screenshot preview if you want to crop, edit, or share it. Find the saved image in your phone’s screenshot folder or gallery app.
On some Android phones, you can press and hold Power, then tap Screenshot. Button behavior and menus vary by manufacturer, so consult the phone maker’s support instructions if these steps do not match your device. Google says scrolling screenshots are available on Android 12 and later on most screens that allow scrolling; this does not guarantee they work in every magazine app. Google’s Android screenshot instructions explain the standard controls and scrolling capture.
Capture a longer article on Android
After taking a screenshot, look for a Capture more, Scroll, or similar option in the preview. If it appears, follow the prompts to extend the capture down the page. The option depends on Android version, device, and app. If it does not appear, the screen may not support scrolling capture. You can save multiple screenshots for personal reference, or check whether the publisher offers an approved reading list, download, or notes feature.
iPhone: take a screenshot after logging in
- Sign in to the magazine’s official app or website and open the article.
- On an iPhone with Face ID, quickly press and release the Side and Volume Up buttons together.
- On an iPhone with Touch ID, quickly press and release the Side and Home buttons together.
- Tap the preview to crop, annotate, save, or share. Screenshots save to Photos by default.
For a long article open as a webpage in Safari, Apple documents a Full Page option after taking a screenshot. You can save supported full-page captures as an image or PDF. This is a Safari webpage feature; it is not guaranteed to work inside a magazine app or a protected view. See Apple’s iPhone screenshot instructions for the current steps.
If the app blocks screenshots
Some apps intentionally prevent protected content from appearing in screenshots. On Android, the FLAG_SECURE display flag is intended to prevent protected UI from appearing in screenshots or on non-secure displays. Google Play policy requires apps to respect that flag and not facilitate workarounds. If a capture is blocked, black, or blank, contact the magazine’s support team or use an approved option such as saved articles, offline reading, bookmarks, or notes if the publisher provides them. Google Play’s policy describes the relevant restriction.
Do not use a capture or recording tool to defeat a protected view. The restriction may be part of the app’s content protections and terms.
Save for personal reference; check before sharing
Reading access and reuse rights are separate. Your subscription may let you view an article without granting permission to distribute a screenshot, post it publicly, or reproduce the article elsewhere. Publisher terms differ. For example, The Indian Express describes limits on printouts or downloads of copyrighted content, Journal Press India places conditions on personal screenshots and restricts copying or redistribution without authorization, and Vogue India’s terms identify its digital magazine content as belonging to Conde Nast India or third-party licensors. These are examples, not a statement of the terms for every magazine. Check the terms for the publication you use.
Or skip the browser setup
If you have permission to capture a page and want an API instead of managing a browser, ScreenshotNeo takes a screenshot from one GET request. The API can return PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. Its clean-shot flow accepts cookie or consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and the response identifies the page verdict and billing status in headers. ScreenshotNeo also offers an MCP server with tools for AI agents, including Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients.
Use this only for a page you are authorized to capture. For a subscriber-only article, the API request does not sign in to your magazine account or grant access. Do not send subscription credentials or attempt to bypass the magazine’s protections.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
Replace the example URL with an article URL you are allowed to capture. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for setup and available parameters. Python and Node.js examples are available there as well.
ScreenshotNeo includes 1,000 screenshots per month free with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots. Sign up for ScreenshotNeo’s free plan.
Troubleshooting
| What happens | Likely cause | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| No screenshot appears | The button combination was not pressed together, or the controls differ on your device. | Try the combination again with a quick press and release. On Android, check the manufacturer’s support instructions for an alternate method. |
| The screenshot is black or blank | The magazine app may be protecting the screen from capture. | Do not try to bypass it. Ask the publisher about approved offline reading, saving, or note-taking options. |
| Scrolling or full-page capture is missing | The screen, app, browser, or operating system may not support extended capture. | On Android, scrolling capture is available on Android 12 and later for most scrollable screens, not all of them. On iPhone, try a supported webpage in Safari; the Full Page option is not guaranteed in magazine apps. |
| The saved image is hard to read | The article extends beyond one screen, or the capture needs cropping. | Use the available scrolling or full-page feature. Otherwise, capture separate portions and keep them in order. Crop or annotate the preview if needed. |
| You can read the article in a browser but not in the app | The publisher may provide different reading features across its app and website. | Check the publisher’s help pages or support team for approved options. Do not assume that a feature available in Safari is also available in the app. |
Reliability and practical limits
- Confirm what was saved: Open the screenshot after capture and check that it contains the intended text and images.
- Keep long captures legible: Full-page images can be difficult to read on a phone. Use the publisher’s PDF or offline reading option if one is provided and permitted.
- Protect account information: Crop out notifications or other personal information before sharing a permitted screenshot.
- Respect subscription and reuse terms: Keep personal reference separate from public distribution; check the publication’s rules for the latter.
FAQ
Does signing in mean I can share the screenshot?
No. Login grants access under the publisher’s subscription terms; sharing or republishing may have separate restrictions. Check that magazine’s terms.
Can I take a full-page screenshot in every magazine app?
No. Android scrolling capture and iPhone Safari Full Page capture depend on the screen and app. Neither is guaranteed in a protected reader.
What if I only need to remember a quote or idea?
Use the magazine’s built-in bookmark, notes, or saved-article feature if available. You can also ask the publisher which personal reference methods it permits.
Will ScreenshotNeo log me in to a subscriber account?
No. It captures a URL but does not provide your magazine subscription access. Use it only for pages you are authorized to capture, and never treat it as a way around a protected login or capture restriction.
