How to Screenshot a Website in Chrome on a Low-End Windows PC in India

Capture a full webpage, a visible screen area, or a PDF in Chrome on Windows. Choose a method that suits your needs and your PC.

To capture an entire webpage as an image in Chrome, open the page, press Ctrl+Shift+I to open DevTools, then press Ctrl+Shift+P, search for Capture full size screenshot, and run that command. For only the visible screen or a selected area, use Windows’ built-in screenshot shortcut Win+Shift+S. If a document is suitable instead of an image, use Chrome’s print preview and save as PDF.

These methods work in Chrome on Windows; the procedure is not specific to India. The full-page DevTools command is reported in Chrome Community guidance, so its exact label or availability may vary across Chrome versions. Chrome Community: screenshot guidance

1. Choose the right kind of capture

Need Use Result
Entire webpage, including content below the fold Chrome DevTools full-size screenshot Image file
A region currently visible on screen Win+Shift+S Selected screen capture
Everything currently displayed on the screen PrtScn or Win+PrtScn, depending on device setup Screen capture; save behavior varies
A page to read, print, or archive as a document Chrome print preview, then Save as PDF PDF document, not a screenshot image

A normal screen capture only records what is visible on the display. It does not scroll down and capture the rest of a long page. Choose DevTools when you need one full-page image. Choose Snipping Tool when you need a quick visible-area capture.

2. Capture the full webpage as an image in Chrome

This uses Chrome DevTools’ command menu. Google Chrome Community guidance describes the following sequence; Chrome interface details can change.

  1. Open Chrome and navigate to the webpage. Wait for the main content to appear.
  2. Press Ctrl+Shift+I to open Developer Tools. If the shortcut is intercepted by your keyboard or system, open Chrome’s menu and look under More tools for Developer tools.
  3. With DevTools open, press Ctrl+Shift+P to open its command menu.
  4. Type Capture full size screenshot. Select the matching command if it appears, then run it.
  5. Wait for Chrome to create the image. Check the download notification or Chrome’s downloads list to locate the file; do not assume a particular folder if your download location has been changed.

The capture represents the webpage at the time it is taken. It may not include content that only appears after a user interaction, and a page that loads content as you scroll may need time to populate first. On a low-end PC, let the page finish loading and avoid opening multiple heavy tabs during the capture.

What “full page” means here

The DevTools command is intended to capture the page beyond the visible viewport. It is different from a Windows screen capture. Results can still depend on the site’s layout, loading behavior, and Chrome version; inspect the saved image to confirm that the sections you need are present.

3. Capture a visible area with Windows Snipping Tool

  1. Bring the Chrome window and the part of the page you want into view.
  2. Press Win+Shift+S.
  3. When the screen dims and the capture controls appear, choose a rectangular selection if needed and drag across the area.
  4. Use the on-screen notification or Snipping Tool to review and save the capture. Depending on the Windows version and settings, it may first be copied to the clipboard; paste with Ctrl+V into an app or save it from the capture controls.

This records pixels currently displayed on the screen. To include the bottom of a long webpage, scroll and take additional captures, or use the DevTools full-page method. The shortcut belongs to Windows, not Chrome.

Use Print Screen when you want the whole display

PrtScn and Win+PrtScn are common Windows screenshot shortcuts, but behavior varies by keyboard, laptop function-key setup, and Windows configuration. Some laptops require Fn with the print-screen key. If you cannot find that key or the result is unclear, use Win+Shift+S and save from the capture controls.

4. Save the page as a PDF if an image is not required

  1. Open the page in Chrome and press Ctrl+P.
  2. In the print preview, choose Save as PDF as the destination if it is available.
  3. Review the preview and print settings, then select Save and choose where to store the file.

Chrome’s help documents Ctrl+P for printing on Windows and Linux and describes saving from print preview. A PDF is a document representation: web content, interactive elements, and exact styling may differ from what appears on screen. Google Chrome Help: Print from Chrome

5. Keep the capture workflow manageable on a low-end PC

  • Close tabs you do not need before opening a long or media-heavy page.
  • If Chrome is sluggish, turn off or remove extensions you do not use, then retry with the built-in capture route.
  • Wait for the page’s visible content to settle before capturing. Avoid repeatedly triggering captures while Chrome is still loading.
  • Use a region capture when you only need a small visible section; it avoids creating an unnecessarily tall image.
  • Keep enough free disk space for the output, especially for long pages or high-resolution displays.

Google recommends closing unused tabs and disabling unwanted extensions as ways to help Chrome run faster. This guidance does not establish a specific memory requirement or guarantee a particular screenshot speed. Google Chrome Help: Speed up Google Chrome

6. Troubleshooting

Problem Likely cause What to try
“Capture full size screenshot” does not appear DevTools may not be focused, the command label may differ, or the Chrome version may expose different commands. Click inside DevTools and open its command menu again. Search for screenshot and inspect available commands. If no full-page command is available, use the built-in visible-area capture in sections or save a PDF.
Ctrl+Shift+I does nothing A system shortcut, keyboard layout, or managed device policy may intercept or disable it. Open Chrome’s menu and look under More tools for Developer tools. If this is a work or school computer, its administrator may control DevTools access.
The capture misses images or lower-page content The page may still be loading, or some content may appear only after scrolling or interaction. Wait for loading to finish, scroll through the page once to trigger lazy content, return to the desired page position, then retry. Verify the output image.
Win+Shift+S captures only part of the page That shortcut captures a visible screen region; it does not create a scrolling webpage image. Use DevTools for a full-page image, or scroll and take multiple separate snips.
Print Screen key does not work as expected The key may share a function with another key, require Fn, or use different Windows settings. Try Fn with the key if present, or use Win+Shift+S.
Chrome becomes unresponsive during a long capture The page or open browser session may be using more resources than the PC can comfortably handle. Close unused tabs and apps, disable unwanted extensions, reload the page, and capture only what you need. For a document, try print preview instead.
PDF layout differs from the webpage Print output is a document rendering, not a pixel-for-pixel screenshot. Review print preview and settings. If exact visible appearance matters, save an image instead.

7. Or skip the browser setup

If you need repeatable captures without setting up DevTools on this PC, ScreenshotNeo provides a website screenshot API and MCP server. One GET request can return an image or PDF; the example below captures Stripe as WebP. See the ScreenshotNeo documentation.

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

Equivalent Python and Node.js requests:

import requests
r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
  • Cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot; each step can be turned off.
  • Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed. Responses identify the page verdict and billing status in headers.
  • An MCP server gives AI agents tools to take screenshots, get page information, and capture PDFs.
  • The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card. Paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots.
