How to Screenshot a Website in Vivaldi on Mac
Capture a full webpage or selected region in Vivaldi on Mac, then save it, copy it, or attach it to a Note.
To screenshot a website in Vivaldi on Mac, open the page and use Vivaldi’s camera-shaped Capture control in the Status Bar. Choose Full Page or Selection, then save the result as PNG or JPEG, copy it to the clipboard, or create a Vivaldi Note with the capture attached.
Capture a webpage in Vivaldi
- Open the webpage you want to capture.
- Click the camera-shaped Capture Page control in Vivaldi’s Status Bar at the bottom of the window.
- Select Full Page to capture the page’s full length, or Selection to mark a region. You can resize a selection before capturing it.
- Choose an output: save as PNG or JPEG, copy the image to the clipboard, or create a Note with the capture.
- If you chose a file format, finish the save dialog and select a destination if prompted.
Vivaldi’s built-in Capture tool supports full-page and user-defined selection captures. Its help documentation states that full-page captures have a maximum length of 30,000 pixels. Very long pages may therefore need to be captured in sections. Vivaldi’s Capture help documents the available modes and settings.
Choose the right capture mode and output
| Choice | Use it when | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Full Page | You need the page from top to bottom, including content beyond the visible window. | A tall capture, subject to the documented 30,000-pixel maximum length. |
| Selection | You need one section, chart, or other bounded area. | A capture of the region you define; resize the selection before taking it. |
| Save as PNG | You want a lossless image or need to preserve crisp text and edges. | An image file saved to disk. |
| Save as JPEG | You prefer a compressed image file. | A JPEG image saved to disk. |
| Copy to Clipboard | You want to paste the capture into another application. | The image is placed on the system clipboard. |
| Create Note With… | You want to keep the capture with its source for later reference. | A Vivaldi Note attachment associated with the webpage link and capture date. |
Open Capture with Quick Commands or a shortcut
If the camera control is missing from the Status Bar, open Quick Commands with ⌘ E, type Capture, move to the capture command you want, and press Return. Vivaldi also documents F2 as the Quick Commands key on desktop; on Mac, ⌘ E is the documented shortcut.
You can set a custom keyboard shortcut for a capture action. Open Settings, search for Capture, select the action, and enter the key combination you want. Vivaldi’s documentation does not specify a dedicated screenshot shortcut assigned by default, so use Quick Commands or configure one if you prefer the keyboard.
Save captures to a chosen folder and name them
To change the destination folder or filename pattern, open Settings > Webpages > Image Capture. Set Capture Storage Folder and Capture File Name Template to suit your workflow. The setting labels may vary slightly by browser version or customization; searching Settings for “Capture” is a quick way to find them.
Create a Vivaldi Note from a screenshot
- Open the webpage and choose the Status Bar’s Capture Page control.
- Choose full-page or partial capture.
- Set the format to Create Note With…, then take the capture.
- Give the resulting Note a title and description if useful.
The Note can keep the image alongside the webpage link and capture date, which is useful when the screenshot needs source context. See Vivaldi’s Notes documentation for its Notes workflow.
When to use Full Page versus Selection
Use Full Page when the whole document matters, such as a long article or page layout. Check the result if the page is taller than 30,000 pixels, because that is the documented maximum capture length. Use Selection when only a particular portion is relevant or when a very long page is easier to preserve as several smaller captures.
For a quick paste into a document or chat, choose clipboard output. For an archived file, save PNG or JPEG. For a capture you will revisit with its source, create a Note.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The camera control is not visible | The Status Bar may be hidden or customized. | Use ⌘ E, type “Capture,” and run a capture command. You can also search Settings for “Capture” to locate the action or assign a shortcut. |
| The full-page image ends early | The page may exceed Vivaldi’s documented 30,000-pixel full-page limit. | Capture the relevant areas with Selection in multiple sections. |
| I cannot find the saved image | The capture may have gone to the configured storage folder, or the output may have been clipboard rather than file. | Check Settings > Webpages > Image Capture > Capture Storage Folder. If you selected Copy to Clipboard, paste into an image-capable app and save from there. |
| The keyboard command does not open Capture | Quick Commands and capture shortcuts are configurable, and a custom shortcut may differ. | Try ⌘ E and search for “Capture.” To use another key combination, set it in Settings after searching for Capture. |
| The screenshot is not attached to a Note | The output may have been set to a file or clipboard format. | Open Capture Page, choose the capture mode, select Create Note With… as the format, and capture again. |
Performance and reliability tips
- For long documents, allow the page to finish loading before capturing. If the result is incomplete, try again after the page has settled.
- Full-page capture is convenient for ordinary pages, but the 30,000-pixel length limit means exceptionally long pages may require several selections.
- Choose the output before capturing: clipboard is fastest for pasting, while PNG or JPEG creates a reusable file.
- For repeatable file organization, configure the storage folder and filename template once in Image Capture settings.
Vivaldi’s built-in capture has no separate per-capture fee described in its help workflow. For a browser-only task, it is the direct option. If you need automated captures across pages or want an API response instead of a manual browser action, see the alternative below.
Or skip the browser setup
For automated website screenshots, ScreenshotNeo returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF from one GET request. Its API accepts a URL and offers options such as full-page capture and viewport settings. Read the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for parameters and response details.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
import requests
r = requests.get(
"https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot",
params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"},

)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
if (!res.ok) throw new Error(`Screenshot request failed: ${res.status}`);
const image = Buffer.from(await res.arrayBuffer());
await import('node:fs/promises').then(fs => fs.writeFile('shot.webp', image));
ScreenshotNeo removes cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before the shot; each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed. An MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots.
