How to Sync Nimbus Screenshot Captures Between Chrome Profiles
Chrome Sync does not promise to transfer Nimbus screenshot files. Save each capture to a cloud destination or shared folder that both profiles can access.
Short answer: Chrome Sync can sync extension-related information and settings, but Google’s documentation does not say it transfers image files created by Nimbus Screenshot between Chrome profiles. Save the capture to Nimbus Note, Google Drive, Dropbox, or a local folder both profiles can access, then open it from the second profile.
Installing or syncing an extension and syncing files produced by that extension are separate things. If a capture is missing from another profile, check where the image was saved and whether that profile has access to the same account, workspace, or folder.
Choose where the capture should be available
| Destination | How it helps | Check in the second profile |
|---|---|---|
| Nimbus Note | Upload the capture to a folder in your Nimbus account. For business captures, select the organization and workspace. | Sign in to the same account and open the folder or workspace where you uploaded it. |
| Google Drive or Dropbox | Send or save the capture to a cloud destination supported by Nimbus documentation. | Sign in to an account that can access the saved file. |
| Local disk | Save the image to a chosen folder. | Make sure both profiles or users can access the same path. A folder on one computer is not automatically shared with another computer. |
| Chrome Sync alone | Can sync extension-related information and settings. | Do not assume it includes Nimbus-created image files; the reviewed Google documentation does not make that guarantee. |
Save a Nimbus capture so another profile can open it
- Capture the page. Use the Nimbus screenshot capture extension available in your browser. Nimbus’s help material describes capturing and editing an image before saving or uploading it.
- Choose a shared destination. Use Nimbus Note, Google Drive, Dropbox, or a local shared folder. Menu labels can change, so look for the save, upload, or destination controls in the current extension.
- For Nimbus Note, sign in and choose the destination. Select the folder for a personal capture. For a business capture, select the relevant organization and workspace if prompted, then upload.
- For a cloud drive, complete the save or send flow. Confirm the destination account and folder so the file is stored somewhere the other profile can reach.
- Open the other Chrome profile. Sign in to the same Nimbus account or cloud-storage account. Navigate to the folder and open the image.
- Verify the file itself. If it is not visible, check the original profile’s selected destination, upload completion, account identity, folder permissions, and whether the file was saved locally instead.
Nimbus’s documentation describes choosing a folder and uploading a capture to Nimbus Note, as well as sending captures to Google Drive. Its settings material also describes selecting a disk destination and configuring a filename pattern. See the Nimbus Screenshot guide, Nimbus browser settings, and Nimbus screen capture page.
What Chrome Sync does—and does not establish
Google lists extension information among Chrome Sync data, including extension-related details and settings. That supports syncing some extension state; it does not establish that files created by an extension are uploaded or transferred. See Google’s Chrome Sync data documentation.
Google also explains that signed-in users can access Chrome information, including extensions, on devices using the same account, and that Chrome profiles can keep work and personal information separate. Neither point guarantees that a screenshot image saved by Nimbus will appear in another profile. See Google’s Chrome Help page.
In practice, treat the screenshot as a file with a destination. Make that destination accessible to both profiles. Signing into Chrome or installing the extension in the second profile does not, by itself, move a previously saved capture.
Check the extension and product name
Nimbus naming and extension availability can change. The Chrome Web Store entry identified in the research is titled Web Clipper (Nimbus) and describes clipping content into Nimbus Note. Nimbus’s help material describes Nimbus Screenshot as its image-capture tool. If you cannot find screenshot controls, verify that you have the capture tool you intend to use rather than assuming a web clipper creates screenshot files.
Common problems and fixes
| Problem | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The extension appears in both profiles, but the old screenshot does not. | Extension availability or settings synced; the image file was saved elsewhere. | Return to the profile that made the capture and check its save destination. Upload or copy the file to a shared destination. |
| The capture is not in Nimbus Note. | It may not have been uploaded, or it went to a different account, folder, organization, or workspace. | Check the original profile’s upload flow and destination. In the second profile, sign into the same account and open the selected folder or workspace. |
| The cloud drive opens, but the file is missing or access is denied. | The second profile is signed into another account or lacks permission for the file or folder. | Confirm the account and sharing permissions in the cloud destination, then reopen the folder. |
| A local save works in one profile but not the other. | The profiles may be on different computers or use different user-accessible folders. | Choose a shared folder or move the capture to cloud storage. Confirm the second user can read the path. |
| You cannot find the screenshot option in the extension. | The installed Nimbus listing may be a web clipper, or product controls may have changed. | Check the current extension listing and Nimbus’s screenshot documentation; verify that the installed tool supports image capture. |
| The filename makes the capture hard to find. | A generic or repeated filename may have been used. | Use a descriptive filename. Nimbus settings documentation describes a configurable filename pattern for disk or Nimbus Note saves; exact controls may vary by version. |
Reliability and organization tips
- Pick one canonical destination for captures you need across profiles, and confirm the upload or save finishes before switching profiles.
- For local files, use a folder that is genuinely shared or synchronized by a storage service you already use. Chrome Sync itself is not evidence that an arbitrary local image folder is shared.
- Use clear filenames or organize captures into folders so you can locate them from either profile.
- For work and personal profiles, verify access deliberately: separate Chrome profiles may use different accounts and permissions.
- Keep an original local copy if you need one, but do not mistake a local save for a cross-device backup.
Or skip the browser setup
If your goal is to capture a webpage and retrieve an image, rather than move an existing Nimbus file, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. One GET request returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
import requests
r = requests.get(
"https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot",
params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"},
timeout=90,
)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
ScreenshotNeo removes cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets before the shot. Bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed. Its MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. This creates new captures through an API; it does not transfer existing Nimbus files.

FAQ
Will installing Nimbus in my second profile bring over earlier captures?
No transfer is established by installing the extension. Open the original save destination and make the file available there.
Can two profiles on one computer use the same screenshot folder?
They can if the folder’s location and permissions allow both profiles’ users to access it. Check the actual path and access rights.
Does Nimbus Note automatically show every capture from every profile?
The documented workflow uploads a capture to a chosen folder or workspace. The reviewed material does not promise automatic upload or visibility across all profiles.
Is a screenshot capture the same as a web clip?
No. The current store listing identified here is Web Clipper (Nimbus), while Nimbus screenshot help describes an image-capture tool. Confirm which tool is installed for the workflow you need.
