How to Track Best Buy Prices and Get Price Drop Alerts

Use Best Buy deal notifications to spot offers, then check your order and request an eligible price match. Here’s what alerts do—and don’t—guarantee.

Short answer: Turn on Best Buy app notifications and use its deal emails to discover promotions. Best Buy’s checked sources do not promise a price-drop alert for every individual product. If you already bought an item and Best Buy’s own price falls, check whether your purchase qualifies for a price match during its applicable return and exchange period, then request it through the right channel.

A deal notification can help you spot an offer. It does not itself establish that your item qualifies for a refund. Check the current offer, seller, and Best Buy’s live policy before relying on a price adjustment.

How do I track Best Buy prices?

  1. Enable Best Buy app notifications. Best Buy’s app listing describes deal finders and real-time notifications about shopping deals. Treat these as general deal-discovery tools; the checked listing does not guarantee an alert for every product you follow.
  2. Use Best Buy deal emails if they are useful to you. The Deal of the Day FAQ describes deal emails and says you can unsubscribe using the link in an email’s footer.
  3. Check the product and current offer directly. Confirm that the price is still active, the product is the same, and the seller and offer meet the price-match rules.
  4. If you already ordered, check the order itself. After you have received or picked up an online order, open Order Details and select See details to check price-match availability.

These routes serve different purposes. App notifications and emails may surface general promotions; an order-specific price-match check is something you initiate. The sources do not establish a guaranteed individual-product watchlist alert or a third-party tracker that reliably monitors Best Buy prices.

Does Best Buy send price drop alerts?

Best Buy advertises general shopping-deal notifications in its app listing. That supports enabling notifications as one way to discover deals, but it does not mean Best Buy will notify you whenever a particular saved or purchased item drops in price. The Deal of the Day FAQ also describes deal emails, not guaranteed item-specific alerts.

For a purchase you have already made, check Order Details and the current price-match terms rather than waiting for an alert. Best Buy’s policy says a customer can request a match to Best Buy’s own lower price during the applicable return and exchange period, when the other criteria are met.

Will Best Buy refund the difference if the price drops after I buy?

It may, if the purchase and lower price meet the policy requirements and you request the match within the applicable return and exchange period. Best Buy’s Price Match Guarantee says: “If we lower our in-store, online or app price during the return and exchange period, we will match our lower price, upon request.” The policy also allows multiple requests during that period when all criteria are met.

This is not an automatic refund for every price change. Best Buy’s policy covers new items sold by Best Buy, subject to exclusions. Marketplace Product prices are not eligible, whether on BestBuy.com or another website. Other listed exclusions include some clearance, open-box, refurbished, out-of-stock or limited-quantity offers; certain membership-only prices; financing; bundles; coupon offers; and special limited-time sales. Competitor offers must also meet Best Buy’s product, availability, and seller rules.

Keep the current lower offer available for review. Best Buy says to present the competitor’s current ad or website address as proof, and the lower offer must remain in effect while it is reviewed. A saved alert or screenshot can help you find or document a price, but does not establish eligibility by itself.

How do I request a Best Buy price adjustment?

For an online purchase

  1. Sign in to the account used for the purchase and open Order Details.
  2. After the order has been received or picked up, select See details to check price-match availability.
  3. Request an eligible match through BestBuy.com online chat or call 1-888-237-8289.

Best Buy says the online chat request must be made by the product purchaser. Online requests cannot be processed in stores or by email.

For a store purchase

Ask a Customer Specialist or visit the Customer Service desk. Provide the current lower offer and its proof, such as the competitor’s ad or website address. Best Buy says it will review and verify the request.

Before you contact Best Buy

  • Have your order or receipt details ready.
  • Confirm the exact product and configuration match.
  • Open the lower offer and check that it is still active.
  • Check who is selling the item and whether the offer type is excluded.
  • Check the current policy and the return and exchange period that applies to your purchase.

How long do I have to get a Best Buy price match?

For Best Buy’s own lower price, the policy ties the request window to the applicable return and exchange period. Do not assume one number of days applies to every purchase: check the current return policy and your order’s eligibility. Best Buy’s price-match policy page, checked for this article, is effective September 2, 2026, and says terms may be amended.

Special cases: delivery, preorders, and Deal of the Day

  • Price drops before scheduled delivery: Best Buy says that if the price of a Best Buy item drops before its scheduled delivery date, it will refund the full difference, including tax, but you must call.
  • Preorders: Best Buy says a preorder whose price drops at shipment will be charged at the lower price.
  • Deal of the Day after purchase: A previous purchaser can request a match to an active Deal of the Day price during the applicable return and exchange period if Best Buy is selling the item and it is not a Marketplace Product. The deal ends when sold out online or at 11:59 p.m. Central Time on the deal day if it has not sold out.

These are policy details, not a guarantee that every offer or order qualifies. Check the current terms and ask Best Buy about your specific purchase.

What to use: app notifications, deal emails, or an order check?

Route What it helps with Timing and action
Best Buy app notifications Discovering general shopping deals and promotions Push notifications; check the item and terms yourself
Deal emails Finding emailed promotions, including Deal of the Day information Arrive by email; an offer can end or sell out, so verify it is still active
Order Details price-match check Checking a specific eligible online order after receipt or pickup Customer-initiated; use “See details,” then online chat or phone if eligible

Use app notifications and emails to discover offers. Use the order check and policy to determine whether you can request a match.

Or skip the browser setup

If you need a clean record of a live Best Buy offer page for your own notes, ScreenshotNeo can capture a webpage with one API request. A screenshot can preserve what the page showed when captured; it does not monitor prices, send alerts, or determine whether Best Buy will approve a match. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation.

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://www.bestbuy.com/ -o shot.webp
import requests

r = requests.get(
    "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot",
    params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://www.bestbuy.com/"},
    timeout=90,
)
r.raise_for_status()
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
const q = new URLSearchParams({
  access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY',
  url: 'https://www.bestbuy.com/'
});
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
if (!res.ok) throw new Error(`Screenshot request failed: ${res.status}`);
const fs = await import('node:fs/promises');
await fs.writeFile('shot.webp', Buffer.from(await res.arrayBuffer()));

Replace the homepage with the exact product or offer URL you want to capture. Cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed; an MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots; and 1,000 screenshots a month are free with no card, with paid plans starting at $5 for 3,000. Troubleshooting

I did not get an alert for the item

Cause: The checked app information describes general deal notifications, not a guaranteed alert for every item. Fix: Check the product page and deal emails directly, and use Order Details for a post-purchase eligibility check.

The lower price is from a Marketplace seller

Cause: Best Buy excludes Marketplace Product prices from its guarantee. Fix: Verify the seller shown on the offer. Do not count on a match for a Marketplace Product.

The offer disappeared or sold out

Cause: The lower price is no longer active; Best Buy requires the lower offer to remain in effect while reviewed. Deal of the Day offers can end when sold out. Fix: Keep the live offer available and contact Best Buy while it is active.

My online request was rejected at a store or by email

Cause: Best Buy says online purchase requests cannot be processed in stores or by email. Fix: Check Order Details, then use BestBuy.com online chat or call 1-888-237-8289. The purchaser must make the online chat request.

The item or promotion appears to qualify, but the request was denied

Cause: Additional product, seller, availability, and offer exclusions apply. Fix: Review the live Price Match Guarantee terms and ask Best Buy which criterion applies to the specific offer.

A screenshot does not settle the request

Cause: A screenshot records page content but does not prove that an offer remains active or meets Best Buy’s criteria. Fix: Provide the current ad or offer page address and follow Best Buy’s review process.

Reliability and cost notes

Best Buy’s own app, email, and order channels are the sources described by the checked materials. Notifications are useful discovery aids, but they are not a substitute for checking the live offer or the order’s eligibility. A price-match request is customer-initiated and subject to the policy. Keep the policy date in mind: Best Buy can amend the terms, so confirm them when you make a request.

ScreenshotNeo is optional for keeping a visual record of a page, not a price tracker. Its free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. A screenshot does not guarantee that a price will remain available or that a match will be approved.

Frequently asked questions

Can I request more than one price match?

Best Buy says multiple requests are allowed during the applicable return and exchange period when all criteria are met.

Can I get a match on a competitor’s price?

Best Buy’s policy includes qualified competitor offers, but product, seller, availability, and offer rules apply. Check the live policy before relying on a competitor price.

Does a price alert guarantee a refund?

No. An alert may help you notice a lower price. Best Buy reviews a match request under its policy and your purchase’s eligibility.
