How to Track Hindi Ecommerce Keywords With Google SERP Screenshots

Track Hindi ecommerce queries with Search Console data and dated Google SERP screenshots. Keep query spelling, location, device, and other conditions consistent.

Track Hindi ecommerce keywords by combining two kinds of evidence: Google Search Console metrics for your site, and dated screenshots of selected Google results pages. Search Console shows aggregated clicks, impressions, click-through rate (CTR), and average position; a screenshot records one observed results page in a particular context. Neither can substitute for the other.

Use Search Console to find queries that showed your site and measure performance over comparable periods. Save screenshots for queries you want to inspect qualitatively, and record the exact query and conditions so later captures can be compared fairly. A screenshot is not a universal view of what every Hindi-speaking shopper sees.

1. Find Hindi queries in Search Console

  1. Open the Search results Performance report in Search Console.
  2. Choose a date range and search type that fit the question. Web, image, video, and news search data should not be mixed casually in a comparison.
  3. Enable clicks, impressions, average CTR, and average position. These metrics answer different questions: whether your site appeared, whether people clicked, how often impressions became clicks, and the average position across impressions.
  4. Open the Queries tab and identify the exact Hindi queries for which the property appeared. Include queries in Devanagari and the mixed-language or Romanized spellings that matter to your business. Do not normalize spellings in your notes: save each exact query string.
  5. For a query or group, inspect Pages, Countries, Devices, and Dates. Use the same relevant filters when comparing periods.

Search Console does not expose every query. Anonymized queries are omitted from the query table, though they can be included in chart totals unless you filter by query. The Search Console interface export limit is 1,000 rows. Google documents an upper limit of 50,000 rows per day, per site, per search type for the Search Analytics API and Looker Studio connector, subject to data availability. See Google’s data filtering and limits guide.

2. Capture a reproducible Google SERP

Choose a small set of commercially meaningful queries from your Search Console findings, plus important query variants that may not appear in the report. A manual Google search and a Search Console row can differ: the report can include a query even when a manual search does not show your site. Google explains that results can vary with time, place, device, and recent search history.

  1. Open Google Search in a browser and enter the exact query as saved, preserving its script, spelling, and spaces.
  2. Set the search context you intend to study, such as country or city and device. Record the Google interface language separately from the query language.
  3. Capture the visible results page. For a manual workflow, use your operating system’s screenshot function or a browser screenshot tool. Keep the capture method and viewport consistent across observations.
  4. Save the image with a date and a stable query identifier; keep the full query and context in a separate log or metadata record.
  5. Repeat on a schedule appropriate to your decision. Avoid treating every small layout or position change as a durable ranking change.

For repeatable automation, use a browser automation library such as Playwright or Puppeteer to open Google Search and save a screenshot. Automated access to search pages may encounter bot checks or other restrictions; follow Google’s terms and applicable policies. The minimal Playwright example below uses Chromium and saves a full-page screenshot. It does not guarantee a particular location, language, personalization state, or stable Google layout; set those deliberately in your own environment and log them.

import { chromium } from 'playwright';

const query = process.argv[2] ?? 'हिंदी में ऑनलाइन साड़ी खरीदें';
const browser = await chromium.launch({ headless: true });
const context = await browser.newContext({
  viewport: { width: 1365, height: 900 },
  locale: 'hi-IN',
  timezoneId: 'Asia/Kolkata'
});
const page = await context.newPage();
const url = `https://www.google.com/search?q=${encodeURIComponent(query)}`;
await page.goto(url, { waitUntil: 'domcontentloaded', timeout: 60000 });
await page.screenshot({ path: 'serp.png', fullPage: true });
await browser.close();

Install and run it with Node.js in a project directory:

npm install playwright
npx playwright install chromium
node capture.mjs 'हिंदी में ऑनलाइन साड़ी खरीदें'

This is a starting point, not a location emulator. Browser locale and timezone do not necessarily make Google serve results as if the browser were physically in a particular city. If geography matters, use a consistent, permitted setup that actually controls the search location and record what it does. Do not infer that a query string parameter or browser setting guarantees a specific localized SERP.

3. Keep a screenshot log

Google does not mandate the following checklist. It is a practical reproducibility method based on the contextual variation Google documents. Record one row per capture:

Field What to record
Exact query Original Devanagari, Romanized, or mixed-language string, including spelling
Capture time Date, time, and timezone
Target location Country, city, or other location context, and how it was set
Device Mobile or desktop, viewport dimensions, and browser
Interface language Google interface language, distinct from the query language
Search type Web, image, video, or another type
Personalization Whether the browser was signed in; note other relevant profile or history conditions
Artifact Screenshot filename or storage reference, plus capture tool/version if useful

Example filename: 2026-10-04_india-mobile_hi-saree-query_web.png. Keep a separate CSV or spreadsheet with the full query, because filenames should remain manageable. Restrict access to logs if they contain account or browsing context you do not want shared.

4. Compare observations without overclaiming

When comparing two screenshots, first check whether the exact query, location, device and viewport, interface language, search type, time context, and personalization state match. Then describe what is visible: organic listings, shopping modules, maps, translated titles or snippets, ads, and other result features. A change in visible layout can matter to ecommerce strategy even when an average position metric is stable.

Compare Search Console over matched date ranges with the same query, page, country, and device filters where possible. Average position is an aggregate across impressions, not a fixed rank that every searcher saw. Google recommends looking at changes over time rather than relying only on an absolute position. Read Google’s explanation of impressions, position, and clicks.

Google may translate titles and snippets into Hindi for results whose pages were originally written in another language, on both desktop and mobile. Note whether the displayed result appears translated; the screenshot shows the presentation, not necessarily the page’s source language. Search Console’s Search Appearance filter can monitor translated-result clicks and impressions. See Translated results in Google Search.

If you are assessing localized site architecture, screenshots alone do not prove that Google crawled and indexed every language or regional URL. Google’s international and multilingual site guidance also warns that locale-adaptive pages may not all be crawled, indexed, or ranked for different locales.

5. Troubleshooting

Symptom Likely cause What to do
Your site is in Search Console but absent from your manual screenshot The query report and one live search reflect different times, places, devices, or recent history; the site may also be below the visible area. Check the screenshot context and date, capture the full page if appropriate, and compare Search Console trends over matched filters. Do not treat one manual search as a correction to the report.
Few Hindi queries appear in the Queries table Anonymized queries are omitted, and the report has row and data availability limits. Use chart totals for aggregate context, export available rows, and avoid claiming the table is a complete list of demand.
Two screenshots disagree unexpectedly Different query spelling, location, device, interface language, time, sign-in state, or history can change the results. Compare the log fields first, then repeat with aligned conditions. Keep the original observations rather than overwriting them.
A result title is Hindi but the page is not Google may be showing a translated result title or snippet. Inspect the destination page and mark the SERP presentation as translated where apparent; use Search Appearance reporting for translated-result performance.
Playwright times out or saves an error page Google may load slowly, show a consent or verification step, or present a bot check. Inspect the page and response before interpreting the image. Increase timeout only when ordinary slow loading is the issue; do not attempt to bypass access controls.
Screenshot looks cropped or misses lower results The capture used viewport-only mode or the page had not rendered its full content. Use full-page capture, wait for page rendering, and retain a consistent viewport. Check that the resulting image is not so large that review becomes impractical.
Position changed but the screenshot looks similar Average position summarizes impressions across contexts, while the screenshot is one observation. Inspect matched Search Console dimensions and a series of consistently collected screenshots; report the two evidence types separately.

6. Performance, reliability, and cost

Search Console is the source for your site’s reported search performance; browser captures are supplemental observations. A screenshot workflow costs time and storage, and a bespoke browser runner also needs maintenance when browser behavior or page layouts change. Keep a focused query set, schedule captures at a cadence tied to decisions, and avoid collecting repeated images that nobody reviews.

For reliability, preserve the raw screenshot and its context record together, use stable filenames, and keep capture failures visible in the log rather than silently dropping them. Compare like with like. For a larger team, centralize the query list and capture metadata so different people do not unknowingly use different locations, browsers, or device sizes.

Search Console data has documented anonymization and export limits, so it is not a complete query census. Review Google’s current documentation before building a process that depends on specific report dimensions or export limits, since interface and product details can change.

Or skip the browser setup

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. A single GET request can return a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF; its API documentation describes the options. For example, this cURL request captures a page:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

Python:

import requests

r = requests.get(
    "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot",
    params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"},
    timeout=90,
)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)

Node.js:

const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
if (!res.ok) throw new Error(`Screenshot request failed: ${res.status}`);
await Bun.write('shot.webp', new Uint8Array(await res.arrayBuffer()));

Adapt the target URL to the page you need to capture. ScreenshotNeo removes known cookie and consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks and CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and responses identify page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf for AI agents. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. These are general page-capture capabilities: confirm in the docs that the target URL and required context suit your SERP workflow.

FAQ

Should I track Hindi queries in Devanagari only?

No. Include the exact Devanagari, Romanized, and mixed-language variants your shoppers use. Preserve each spelling as its own query in your notes.

Does a screenshot prove my site ranks at that position for everyone?

No. It records one results page in one context. Search Console average position is aggregated across impressions, and live results can vary by time, place, device, and history.

Can I use screenshots to measure traffic or CTR?

No. Use Search Console clicks and impressions for reported site performance. Screenshots help explain visible result layout and presentation.

Why does Search Console hide some queries?

Google omits anonymized queries from query tables for privacy. They may still contribute to chart totals unless a query filter excludes them.
