Versionista Email Alerts Not Arriving: How to Fix Them

Find out whether a missing Versionista email is a summary or instant alert, check the right settings, and trace whether it was recorded as sent.

If Versionista email alerts are not arriving, first identify whether you expected a summary email or an instant alert: summaries follow the account schedule and may be skipped when no changes were detected, while instant alerts are off by default and must be enabled for each monitored page. Then check the intended recipient and report filters, and use Account Settings email history to see whether Versionista recorded the message as sent. A history entry does not prove delivery to the inbox.

This order follows Versionista’s official email-alert guide. Versionista’s public guide does not document a sender address or provider-specific allowlisting steps, so do not guess at an address or domain.

1. Identify which email you expected

Versionista describes two types of change email, and they have different triggers and settings:

Email type What triggers it Where to check
Summary email A scheduled report of detected changes across monitored pages. Daily is the default schedule. Account Settings: frequency, no-change summaries, and report scope.
Instant alert A detected change on a specific monitored page. The page view’s Crawl area, where instant alerts are enabled per page.

If you are unsure, inspect the email history in Account Settings. It can help establish whether Versionista recorded a summary or alert around the expected time.

2. Fix a missing summary email

  1. Open Versionista’s Account Settings.
  2. Review the summary frequency. Summaries are daily by default, but the schedule can be changed to another interval.
  3. Check whether the reporting period actually contained a detected change. By default, Versionista does not send a summary for a period with no detected changes in the previous 24 hours.
  4. If you need a message even during quiet periods, enable the option to send summaries when no changes were detected.
  5. If you expected new pages to appear in the report, check the setting that controls whether newly found pages are listed.
  6. Review the report recipient and scope settings. Site folders and page categories can narrow which changes are included for a recipient.

A quiet report period can therefore look like a delivery failure even though no summary was scheduled to be sent. If summaries arrive on some days but not others, compare the schedule with whether Versionista detected changes during each period.

3. Fix a missing instant alert

  1. Open the monitored page in Versionista.
  2. Expand the page’s Crawl area.
  3. Check whether the instant-alert switch is on. Instant alerts are off by default and configured page by page.
  4. In Account Settings, check the instant-alert content option: text changes, text and HTML changes, or filtered changes.
  5. Confirm that the account detected a change on that page. An instant alert is change-triggered; it is not a periodic status message.
  6. Check recipient and report filters, including any folder or category restrictions.

Filtered changes apply Versionista filters before sending the alert body. If a page changed in a way excluded by your filters, the alert may not contain the change you expected. Review the page’s monitoring and filter configuration if the history and page comparison do not match your expectation.

4. Check users, recipients, and report scope

Account Settings controls who receives reports and which reports they receive. Versionista’s guide says added users generally receive the same summary and instant-alert emails as the main account email by default, but account-level configuration can refine that delivery.

  • Confirm the intended user or email recipient is included.
  • Review whether that recipient is opted out of reports for a site.
  • Check site folder and page category restrictions. A recipient limited to selected folders or categories will not receive reports outside that scope.
  • If an alert is missing for only one person, compare that user’s configuration with a recipient who did receive it.

5. Use email history to locate the failure

From Account Settings, open the email history. Versionista documents this as a record of emails it has sent. Use it to separate a likely configuration or trigger issue from a mailbox-delivery issue:

What you find What it suggests Next step
No corresponding message in history The expected report may not have been generated, or the recipient/report scope may exclude it. Recheck summary schedule and no-change behavior, page-level instant-alert setting, recipients, and filters.
Message is recorded in history, but missing from the mailbox Versionista recorded sending it; inbox delivery is still unconfirmed. Check spam, quarantine, forwarding, and mailbox filtering rules. Ask Versionista support for its current sender and delivery guidance.
Message appears for another recipient only Recipient-specific configuration or mailbox handling may differ. Compare report scope and recipient settings, then inspect both mail systems.

Email history is evidence of Versionista’s send record, not proof that a message reached the destination mailbox.

6. Troubleshoot mailbox delivery carefully

If the email appears in Versionista history, check the recipient’s mail system: spam or junk folders, administrator quarantine, forwarding rules, inbox rules, and filters that move or delete messages. For a work account, ask the mail administrator to search quarantine and message trace tools for the recipient and approximate send time.

The official Versionista sources reviewed for this guide do not publish a verified sending address, SPF/DKIM/DMARC setup, supported allowlist domain, or instructions for Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, or other providers. Contact Versionista support to obtain current delivery details before allowlisting anything. Versionista’s homepage says existing accounts remain supported with no changes required; it points new accounts to Fluxguard, but does not say existing users must migrate to fix alerts. See the Versionista homepage.

7. Check new-page notifications separately

If the “missing alert” was about a newly discovered URL rather than a change to an already monitored page, check the new-page settings separately. Versionista’s new-page alert tutorial explains that account report settings control whether newly found pages are listed, while URL discovery is configured under the monitored site’s Crawl settings. Discovering a URL and monitoring that URL for subsequent changes are distinct steps.

Or skip the browser setup

If you are investigating a page change and want a rendered snapshot to compare, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server from Yorker Media. It can return a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF with one GET request. This can help preserve a visual reference of a page, but it does not configure or repair Versionista email delivery.

cURL:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

Python:

import requests

r = requests.get(
    "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot",
    params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"},
    timeout=90,
)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)

Node.js:

const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
if (!res.ok) throw new Error(`Screenshot request failed: ${res.status}`);
await Bun.write('shot.webp', res);

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. Cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed. Its MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card, and paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots. Common errors and fixes

Symptom Likely cause Fix
No daily summary on a quiet day No changes were detected, and empty summaries are disabled by default. Enable no-change summaries if you need a daily heartbeat; otherwise, expect a report only when changes occur.
No instant email for a page that changed Instant alerts are off for that page, or a filter excluded the change. Enable the page’s Crawl setting and review the alert content/filter configuration.
One teammate receives the report and another does not Recipient inclusion, folder/category scope, or mailbox rules differ. Compare account report settings and each recipient’s spam, quarantine, and rules.
History contains the email but inbox search finds nothing Delivery may have been filtered, quarantined, forwarded, or otherwise not surfaced in the inbox. Check mail-system quarantine and rules; request the current sender and delivery guidance from Versionista support.
Alert expected for a newly found URL New-page discovery/reporting may be confused with monitoring changes on that URL. Check new-page reporting and site URL discovery, then enable monitoring for the discovered page if needed.
Assumption that moving to Fluxguard will restore mail The public homepage does not say migration is required to repair existing-account alerts. Diagnose the current Versionista settings and ask support about delivery before making account changes.

Reliability and operational notes

  • Use a heartbeat only if you need one. Enabling empty summaries can make a quiet period visible, but it also creates routine mail when nothing changed.
  • Keep instant alerts targeted. They are page-level and can generate substantial email when enabled broadly; Versionista explicitly cautions that turning them on across many pages can create a large volume.
  • Do not treat email as the only record. Use Versionista’s email history and page comparison views when diagnosing a missed notification.
  • Respect summary link access. Versionista says links in summary emails are temporarily public for one week, so handle and forward them accordingly.
  • Cost information is not specified here. The cited alert guide does not establish plan prices or mail-delivery guarantees; check your account terms or ask Versionista support for current details.

FAQ

Why am I not getting Versionista alerts?

The expected message may be a summary suppressed during a no-change period, an instant alert disabled for that page, or a report excluded by recipient filters. Check email history to see whether Versionista recorded it.

How do I check whether Versionista sent an email?

Open Account Settings and follow the email-history link. A record shows Versionista recorded sending the email; it does not confirm inbox delivery.

Are instant alerts enabled automatically?

No. Versionista’s guide says instant alerts are off by default and enabled on each monitored page through its Crawl area.

Should I allowlist a Versionista sender domain?

Only after obtaining the current sender details from Versionista support. The official guide reviewed here does not publish an address or verified allowlist domain.
