How to Use Wachete to Track JEE and NEET Counselling Updates
Set up Wachete monitors for the official JoSAA, CSAB, MCC, and state counselling pages that apply to you—and verify every alert before acting.
To track JEE and NEET counselling updates with Wachete, add a separate monitor for each official notice page or counselling portal relevant to your seat category, choose a checking frequency and alert channel available in your account, then verify every alert on the authority’s site and in your candidate portal. Wachete can prompt you when monitored page content changes; it does not establish whether a notice applies to you, guarantee that every change will be detected immediately, or replace official instructions.
1. Choose the right official pages
Start by identifying who runs the counselling process for your exam, seat type, state, and round. Following only an exam authority or one counselling committee can leave important gaps.
For JEE counselling
- JoSAA News & Events: monitor the official notice listing for schedule changes, public notices, and business rules. Also bookmark the current JoSAA home page and sign in to the candidate portal directly when you need to act.
- CSAB Special: add this separately if you may participate in CSAB Special Rounds or DASA UG. JoSAA identifies CSAB as a separate destination for these NIT+ processes; do not assume a JoSAA monitor covers CSAB notices.
- Add any other official state or institution counselling authority that applies to your choices. JoSAA does not cover every state or institutional process.
For NEET counselling
- MCC News & Events UG and its Current Events page are useful for MCC notices and results. MCC’s remit covers specified counselling categories, including 15% All India Quota undergraduate seats and specified central or institutional seats; check the current year’s rules for your case.
- For state quota and other state-administered seats, identify the official state medical education directorate or counselling authority and monitor its own notice listing and candidate portal. NTA’s guidance assigns state counselling to the relevant state authorities; NTA exam updates are not a substitute for those counselling notices.
- NTA’s NEET site is useful for exam notices and official links. Treat exam updates and counselling updates as separate streams.
Before adding a URL, confirm the authority and category against the current year’s official information bulletin, counselling scheme, or notice. Pages and responsibilities can change between cycles.
2. Create a Wachete monitor
- Open the official authority page in a normal browser. Copy the URL of the notice listing or relevant counselling page, rather than an unofficial summary.
- In Wachete, create a monitor and enter that URL. Wachete’s public workflow describes adding a page, selecting how often to check it, and choosing notifications. Its FAQ describes a “Single page or part of it” option for creating a monitor.
- Choose a checking frequency and alert channel offered by your current account. Wachete lists email, phone notifications, and chat among its alert options. Check your account for the actual available intervals and plan limits; they are not specified here.
- If the page has unrelated content such as rotating banners, focus the monitor on the notice list or relevant area if the interface offers area selection. Wachete advertises whole-page and selected-area monitoring. Interactive or login-required page support is also advertised, but that does not establish that a particular counselling portal will work reliably with it.
- Save the monitor, then review its first alerts against the page itself. Adjust the selected area if alerts are triggered by irrelevant changes.
- Repeat for every authority and portal that applies to your seat category. Keep a written list of the monitors and the process each one covers.
Wachete says its monitoring runs on its servers, so your computer or phone does not need to stay online. Its feature descriptions are vendor claims, not independent verification of monitoring performance on JoSAA, MCC, NTA, or state counselling sites. Do not assume a particular check interval or alert delay.
3. Use alerts safely during counselling
An alert is a prompt to investigate, not an official decision or proof that your counselling status changed. When one arrives:
- Open the authority’s official notice page directly. Do not rely only on the alert summary or a forwarded message.
- Check the notice’s publication date, year, round, category, and whether it is a revised or superseding notice.
- Read the full notice and linked schedule. Identify the action, documents, fees, portal steps, and deadline that apply to your situation.
- Sign in to the official candidate portal independently and confirm your own status and available actions. Never send passwords, one-time codes, or payment details in response to an alert.
- Save the official notice and record the deadline in a calendar with a reminder. If instructions conflict, use the authority’s current official guidance or helpdesk.
Keep checking the authority page and candidate portal directly during active rounds, even when Wachete has sent no alert. Monitoring can miss changes or react only at the selected interval. JoSAA’s portal describes its page contents as informational and without legal sanctity, so a monitor notification should not be treated as an authoritative order.
4. Keep your monitor list useful
- Separate authorities: Use one monitor per notice listing or portal. This makes it easier to tell which process changed.
- Prefer notice lists: If the authority has a dedicated news or current-events page, it is often a more focused source than a general homepage. Keep the homepage bookmarked for navigation and urgent notices.
- Reduce noise: Focus on the notice region where possible. If a monitor repeatedly flags counters, banners, or unrelated updates, refine its selected area or monitor the relevant official notices page instead.
- Maintain backup alerts: Keep authority messages and portal notifications enabled where offered. JoSAA and MCC point users to the Sandes app for counselling-related messages; treat those as another prompt to verify official instructions.
- Review and retire: At the end of a cycle, remove obsolete monitors or update them to the next cycle’s official pages. Do not assume an old URL or schedule still applies.
5. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Too many alerts for irrelevant page changes | The monitor watches the whole page, including banners, counters, or unrelated sections. | Select the notice area if available, or switch to the authority’s dedicated news/current-events listing. Review several alerts after changing it. |
| No alert arrives | The page may not have changed in the monitored content, checking may not yet have occurred, or the alert route may be misconfigured. | Open the official page directly, check the monitor’s last-check history and notification settings, and confirm the address or channel is correct. Continue direct checks during active rounds. |
| The monitor cannot read the page | The site may rely on interactive content, access controls, or behavior the monitor cannot process. | Try the authority’s public notice listing instead of a login page. Wachete advertises support for interactive and login-required pages, but compatibility with a specific portal is not guaranteed. Check the portal manually and use its official notifications. |
| An alert points to an old or irrelevant notice | The monitor may be tracking an archived page or a section with older content. | Check the year and date on the authority site, then replace the monitor with the current official listing or portal. |
| Two pages show different schedules | One notice may have been revised, or the pages may cover different authorities, categories, or rounds. | Read the publication dates and scope of both official notices. Confirm the applicable instruction with the responsible authority; do not infer that the newest-looking page applies to every category. |
| Wachete alerts but the candidate portal shows no action | The page change may be informational or may concern another category or round. | Read the full notice and verify its scope. Take action only through the official portal when its instructions apply to you. |
6. Reliability, timing, and cost considerations
Wachete’s public page says it monitors pages without your device remaining on and offers whole-page or selected-area monitoring and multiple alert channels. These are product descriptions, not independently tested results for counselling websites. The interval you choose affects how soon a change could be noticed, but no specific interval or plan limit should be assumed without checking your current account.
For deadline-sensitive steps, use layered reminders: the official authority’s own notifications where available, Wachete as a page-change prompt, and direct portal checks during active rounds. Do not budget around unverified Wachete limits or treat the absence of an alert as evidence that nothing changed.
Or skip the browser setup
If your task is capturing a counselling notice page as an image or PDF for review, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. It is not a counselling alert service and does not decide which notices apply. Its API takes a URL and returns a screenshot or PDF; see the ScreenshotNeo API documentation.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://josaa.nic.in/news-event/ -o shot.webp
Cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed. An MCP server lets AI agents use screenshot tools. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up for 1,000 free screenshots a month, with no card required.
FAQ
Will a Wachete alert confirm that my seat is allotted?
No. Verify results and your status in the official counselling portal. An alert only indicates that monitored content may have changed.
Should I monitor NTA or MCC for every NEET counselling seat?
No single site covers every seat type. Identify the authority responsible for your category, including the relevant state authority where applicable, and monitor that authority’s official notices.
Does my computer need to stay on for Wachete?
Wachete says monitoring runs on its servers, so your own device does not need to remain online.
Can I rely on one monitor for all counselling rounds?
Only if it is the official source for every process you take part in. Keep separate monitors for separate authorities such as JoSAA and CSAB, and add state or institutional sources as needed.
