How to Capture a Full Webpage in Edge on macOS
Use Edge’s built-in Screenshot feature to capture a page beyond the visible screen on your Mac. Learn when to print instead and how to capture pages with an API.
To capture a full webpage in Microsoft Edge on macOS, open the page, choose Screenshot from the page’s right-click menu or Edge Settings, then select Capture full page. Edge can capture content below the visible screen as one image. You can then mark it up, copy it, or save it. The exact labels and availability may vary with your Edge version and device. Microsoft’s Edge guidance describes the feature and access routes.
Capture a full page in Edge on your Mac
- Open the webpage in Edge and wait for the content you need to appear.
- Open the page’s right-click menu and choose Screenshot. If that option is not available there, open Edge Settings and look for the Screenshot feature.
- Choose Capture full page. This captures beyond the currently visible viewport.
- Use the available controls to mark up or copy the result, or save it as an image.
Microsoft also lists Ctrl+Shift+S as a general Screenshot shortcut. Its guidance does not specify a Mac-specific key mapping, so the shortcut may not open the tool on your Mac. Use the menu or Settings route if it does not.
Choose the right kind of capture
| What you need | Use | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| One image containing content below the fold | Edge Screenshot → Capture full page | A full-page screenshot that you can mark up, copy, or save. |
| A printable document or print workflow | Edge Print | On macOS, open Print with Command+P. The print interface also offers Print using system dialog. Printing is a separate workflow and is not documented as producing the same result as a full-page screenshot. |
| A full-page capture saved into OneNote | OneNote Web Clipper extension | The extension has a Full Page option for saving the page as a screenshot image in a notebook. It is a separate optional route. |
Use the built-in Screenshot feature for a single long image. Choose Print when the intended output is printable. Choose OneNote Web Clipper when the destination is a OneNote notebook. See Microsoft’s documentation for Edge Screenshot, printing in Edge on Mac, and OneNote Web Clipper.
What can affect a full-page capture?
A full-page screenshot represents what the page renders in the browser when you capture it. The page may change while it loads, and the exact controls can differ between browser versions. If the result is missing content, wait for the page to settle and capture again. For pages that load more content as you scroll, check the resulting image to confirm the sections you need are present; the cited Edge guidance does not promise that every site’s scroll-triggered content will load automatically.
- Keep the page stable: wait for visible loading or animations to finish before capturing.
- Check the output: confirm the top, bottom, and important sections are present before sharing it.
- Use Print for document output: a print result can differ from a screenshot and should be reviewed for page breaks and layout.
- Do not rely on an unconfirmed Mac shortcut: use the right-click or Settings route when the listed key combination does not work.
Troubleshooting
Screenshot is missing from the right-click menu
Menu options can vary by Edge version and device. Open Edge Settings and look for Screenshot. If the control is still unavailable, update Edge through its normal settings and check again.
The shortcut does nothing
The documented Ctrl+Shift+S shortcut is general guidance, not a confirmed Mac-specific mapping. Open Screenshot from the right-click menu or Settings instead.
The capture only shows the visible area
Choose Capture full page, rather than a visible-area or selection capture. Check the saved image to make sure it extends through the page.
Some content is absent from the image
Wait for the page to finish rendering and try again. Content that appears only after scrolling or interaction may need to be triggered first; inspect the capture because site behavior varies.
I need a PDF or a printable result
Use Edge’s Print workflow with Command+P and choose the available print destination. Printing is an alternative output path, not a guarantee of the same layout as a full-page screenshot.
Or skip the browser setup
ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. Send a GET request with a URL to receive an image or PDF; see the API documentation for options and formats.
