How to Save a Web Page Screenshot from the EPFO Portal on a Mac

Capture the visible EPFO portal page on your Mac, choose where the screenshot saves, and learn what to do when you need the full page or a webpage file.

To save a screenshot of the EPFO portal page visible on your Mac, press Shift-Command-3 for the whole screen or Shift-Command-4 to select just the page area. macOS saves screenshots to the desktop by default. Press Shift-Command-5 to open the Screenshot controls, choose a screen, window, or area capture, and change the save location.

These are general macOS steps; the available research does not establish a separate EPFO-specific screenshot procedure. Before capturing, check that the image does not include unrelated personal or account information.

Capture the visible EPFO page

  1. Open the relevant page in the EPFO portal in your browser and sign in if the page requires it.
  2. Arrange the page so the information you need is visible. Close unrelated windows and avoid exposing personal or account details that are not needed.
  3. Choose a capture method:
    • Whole screen: press Shift + Command + 3. This is the quickest option when you need everything currently on the display.
    • Selected area: press Shift + Command + 4, drag across the part of the page you want, then release. This can leave out unrelated material around the page.
    • Screenshot controls: press Shift + Command + 5. Use the controls for a whole screen, a window, or a selected area, and use Options to change where the screenshot is saved.
  4. Open the saved image and confirm it shows the right content and is readable.

Apple documents these Mac screenshot shortcuts and the Screenshot controls. By default, screenshots are saved to the desktop; the Screenshot app’s Options menu can change the save location. Apple’s Mac screenshot instructions.

Choose the right capture for the page

What you need Use What to expect
The quickest record of everything on screen Shift-Command-3 Captures the entire display, including other visible items.
Only the relevant part of the portal Shift-Command-4 Drag to select the page region you want in the image.
A particular window or more capture options Shift-Command-5 Choose a window, screen, or area and set the save location through Options.
Content below the visible screen Scroll and capture additional sections The reviewed Mac guidance covers screen, window, and area captures; it does not document a one-image full-page webpage capture.

Capture a page that extends below the screen

A normal Mac screenshot records what is visible in the selected screen, window, or area. If the EPFO page continues below the display, scroll and capture the additional sections you need. Review the images in order so you can tell where one section ends and the next begins. Do not assume the built-in screenshot controls will combine a long webpage into one image: that behavior is not documented in the cited Apple guidance.

For a record that must show a particular detail clearly, adjust the browser zoom or scroll position before taking each capture. Check that text remains legible and that the page has finished loading. A single visible-area screenshot is often easier to review when it contains only the relevant section.

Find the screenshot and change its save location

Look on the desktop first, which is the default save location. To choose another location or inspect the available capture controls, press Shift + Command + 5, open Options, and select the save location you prefer. Capture another screenshot and verify that it appears there.

For Apple’s current steps and options, see Take a screenshot on Mac.

Screenshot or saved webpage: which do you need?

A screenshot is an image of the page as it appeared on screen. If you need a webpage file that retains page material, Safari has a different feature: choose File > Save As, then select a format.

  • Web Archive saves webpage graphics and links. Links work while their destination pages remain available.
  • Page Source saves the HTML source, not a visual screenshot of the page.

Neither format is the same as a screenshot image. See Apple’s guide to saving part or all of a webpage in Safari.

Or skip the browser setup

If you need to capture a public webpage by URL, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server for developers. A single GET request can return a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. For an EPFO page, use only a URL that can be accessed without exposing private account information; a URL-based capture is not a substitute for signing in to a private portal in your own browser.

cURL:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

Python:

import requests

r = requests.get(
    "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot",
    params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"},
    timeout=90,
)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)

Node.js:

const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
if (!res.ok) throw new Error(`Screenshot request failed: ${res.status}`);
await import('node:fs/promises').then(fs => fs.writeFile('shot.webp', Buffer.from(await res.arrayBuffer())));

Replace the example URL with the public page you are authorized to capture, and replace YOUR_API_KEY with your key. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options and response details.

ScreenshotNeo removes cookie and consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, with response headers identifying the page verdict and billing result. Its MCP server provides screenshot, page-info, and PDF tools for AI agents. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots. Sign up for 1,000 free screenshots a month, with no card.

Troubleshooting

Problem Likely cause What to do
The screenshot is not on the desktop The save location was changed. Open Screenshot controls with Shift-Command-5, check Options, and look in the selected location.
The image includes unrelated windows or personal details A whole-screen capture includes everything visible on the display. Use Shift-Command-4 to select only the needed area, or rearrange the screen before capturing.
Part of the webpage is missing It was below the visible screen area. Scroll to the next section and take another capture. The documented controls do not establish one-image full-page webpage capture.
Text or details are hard to read The selected region may be too small, or the page may not be positioned well. Adjust the page position or browser zoom, capture the relevant area, and inspect the saved image.
You saved a file but it is not an image Safari’s Web Archive and Page Source options save webpage data in different formats. Use a Mac screenshot shortcut for an image; use Safari’s save options only when you need a webpage archive or source.
The portal shows a sign-in page or private information The page requires your browser session, or the visible page contains account-specific content. Use the portal in your own browser and capture only what is needed. Do not send private account URLs or credentials to an external capture service.

Privacy and capture quality checklist

  • Confirm the right EPFO page is open and fully loaded.
  • Keep unrelated account details, browser tabs, and notifications out of the selected area where possible.
  • Use an area capture when the full screen contains material the recipient does not need.
  • For long pages, capture sections and review them in sequence.
  • Open the saved file and check that the required information is readable before sharing it.
