To screenshot a website in Firefox, press Ctrl + Shift + S on Windows or Linux, or Command + Shift + S on macOS. Firefox opens its screenshot tool, where you can capture a region, a page element, the visible screen, or the full page, then download or copy the image.

Use the Firefox screenshot shortcut

  1. Open the web page you want to capture in Firefox.
  2. Press Ctrl + Shift + S on Windows or Linux. On macOS, press Command + Shift + S.
  3. Choose what to capture: drag over a region, click a highlighted page element, select Save full page, or select Save visible.
  4. Select Download to save the screenshot in Firefox’s default download folder, or Copy to put it on the clipboard.

In the screenshot interface, use Ctrl + S on Windows or Linux, or Command + S on macOS, to save. Use Ctrl + C or Command + C to copy. Press Esc or select the X control to cancel.

Choose the right capture type

Capture Use it for How to select it
Region A chart, error message, or specific area Drag across the area you want
Page element A single image, block, or other highlighted element Move over the page and click the highlighted element
Visible page What is currently displayed in the browser window Select Save visible
Full page The page from top to bottom, including content outside the current viewport Select Save full page

Choose the visible capture when the current on-screen view is all you need. Choose full page for a long article or page layout. Use a region or element capture when you want to share one detail without the surrounding page.

When the shortcut does not work

Firefox shortcuts can conflict with shortcuts assigned by a desktop environment or window manager. Try these alternatives:

  1. Use the page context menu: right-click an empty part of the page and select Take Screenshot.
  2. Add the Screenshot button: open the Firefox menu, go to More Tools → Customize Toolbar, and add the Screenshot button. Then use the button to open the capture tool.
  3. Check the platform shortcut: use Ctrl on Windows and Linux, and Command on macOS.

If the tool opens but a key does not perform the expected action, click the on-screen Download or Copy control instead.

Or skip the browser setup

For automated captures, ScreenshotNeo takes a screenshot with one HTTP request. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. This example saves a screenshot of stripe.com as WebP:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
import requests

r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
