How to Capture a Full-Page Screenshot in Edge on Linux

Capture an entire webpage in Edge on Linux with Screenshot or DevTools, then check the saved image for missing or changing content.

To capture a full-page screenshot in Microsoft Edge on Linux, open the page and press Ctrl+Shift+S. Choose Capture full page, review the result, and save it. If that shortcut or option is missing in your Edge build, use DevTools: open it with Ctrl+Shift+I, open the Command Menu with Ctrl+Shift+P, search for Capture a full size screenshot, and select the command.

Method 1: Use Edge Screenshot or Web capture

  1. Open the webpage you want to save in Edge.
  2. Press Ctrl+Shift+S.
  3. Choose Capture full page.
  4. Review the capture, then save it to your device.

Microsoft’s documentation refers to the browser feature as both Screenshot and Web capture. If the shortcut does not open it, check the right-click menu or Edge Settings menu for either label. Names and availability can vary by version or rollout; Microsoft’s feature page does not establish identical Linux availability for every release. Method 2: Capture the full page with DevTools

  1. With the target page open, press Ctrl+Shift+I to open Edge DevTools.
  2. Make sure DevTools has focus, then press Ctrl+Shift+P to open its Command Menu.
  3. Search for Capture a full size screenshot.
  4. Select that command and review the resulting image.

This DevTools command captures the whole page, including content outside the visible viewport. Microsoft’s DevTools shortcut guide lists the relevant shortcuts for Windows and Linux. Microsoft Edge DevTools: Emulate mobile devices (Device Mode); Microsoft Edge DevTools overview.

Which method should you use?

Approach Best when What to know
Screenshot / Web capture You want the quickest browser workflow. Try the shortcut first; the menu label or availability may differ in your build.
DevTools full-size screenshot The browser capture item is unavailable, or you already have DevTools open. Use the Command Menu and search for the full-size screenshot command.

Both approaches are intended to capture beyond the current viewport. Neither documentation guarantees identical results for every site, especially pages whose contents change while capturing. Inspect the saved image before relying on it.

Check the result on long or dynamic pages

  • Confirm the top and bottom of the page are present and that the image is not unexpectedly clipped.
  • Look for missing images or sections. Some sites load content only as you scroll, and a full-page capture may not trigger every site’s lazy-loading behavior.
  • For pages with live feeds, animation, or frequently changing content, capture again after the page settles and compare the output.
  • Review content inside embedded frames separately if it matters; a full-page capture does not guarantee every embedded element will render as expected.

These are practical checks, not guarantees about a particular site. Microsoft’s documentation describes full-page capture, but does not promise identical rendering for all dynamic content.

Troubleshooting

Problem Likely cause What to try
Ctrl+Shift+S does nothing The feature is unavailable under that shortcut in your Edge build, or focus is elsewhere. Click the page and try again. Check the right-click and Settings menus for Screenshot or Web capture. If it is not present, use the DevTools method.
You cannot find “Capture full page” The interface name or available options differ in your version. Check for the Screenshot or Web capture entry, then use DevTools’ Command Menu and search for “Capture a full size screenshot.”
Ctrl+Shift+P does not open the Command Menu DevTools may not have focus. Open DevTools with Ctrl+Shift+I, click inside its panel, then press the shortcut.
The screenshot is cut off or sections are absent The page may have changed during capture, or some content may load on scroll. Wait for the page to settle, inspect the saved file, and repeat the capture. Check important lazy-loaded sections manually.
Images or embedded content are missing The site may load or render those elements separately from the main document. Reload and wait for the content to appear before capture. If an embedded frame is essential, inspect it separately as well.

Or skip the browser setup

For repeatable captures in scripts or automated workflows, ScreenshotNeo provides a website screenshot API and MCP server. One GET request returns an image or PDF; see the ScreenshotNeo API documentation.

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
import requests

r = requests.get(
    "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot",
    params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"},
    timeout=90,
)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);

Replace the example URL with the page you want to capture, and provide your API key. ScreenshotNeo removes cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets before the shot. Bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed. Its MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Learn about ScreenshotNeo.

Frequently asked questions

Does a full-page screenshot include content below the fold?

Yes. The full-page options are designed to capture beyond the currently visible viewport. Review the output for site-specific rendering or loading issues.

Do I need to install an extension?

No extension is required for the documented Edge Screenshot or DevTools workflows.

Why do I see “Web capture” instead of “Screenshot”?

Microsoft uses both labels in its materials. Check the available browser menu in your Edge version.

Does the browser method cost anything?

The documented built-in workflows do not require a paid product or additional hardware.
