How to Take a Full-Page Screenshot in Firefox on a Mac

Use Firefox Screenshots on your Mac to capture an entire webpage, then download the image or copy it to the clipboard.

To capture an entire webpage in Firefox on a Mac, open the page and press Command+Shift+S. Choose Save full page, then select Download to save the image or Copy to put it on your clipboard. The full-page option includes content beyond the visible browser window; Save visible captures only the current viewport.

Take the screenshot in Firefox

  1. Open the webpage you want to capture in Firefox.
  2. Press Command+Shift+S to open Firefox Screenshots. Alternatively, Control-click or right-click an empty part of the webpage and choose Take Screenshot. Mozilla’s instructions for Firefox Screenshots cover both ways to open the tool.
  3. Select Save full page.
  4. Select Download to save the screenshot as an image in Firefox’s default download folder, or select Copy to paste it into another application.

Choose Save visible only if you want the portion currently displayed in the browser window. It does not include the rest of the webpage.

Add a Screenshot button to the toolbar

If you take screenshots often, add the Screenshot button to Firefox’s toolbar:

  1. Open the Firefox menu and choose More Tools, then Customize Toolbar.
  2. Drag the Screenshot item onto the toolbar.
  3. Select Done.

You can then open the screenshot tool from the toolbar instead of using the keyboard shortcut or page context menu.

What to check if it does not work

  • The shortcut does not open the screenshot tool: Control-click or right-click an empty area of the webpage and choose Take Screenshot.
  • The result shows only the visible part of the page: reopen the tool and choose Save full page, rather than Save visible.
  • You cannot find the downloaded image: check Firefox’s default download folder. If you chose Copy, paste the image into an application instead; Copy does not download a file.

Or skip the browser setup

For an automated capture, ScreenshotNeo takes a screenshot with one GET request. Replace the example URL with the page you need and use your API key. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request details.

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

ScreenshotNeo removes cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture. Bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed. Its MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots. Sign up for free and get 1,000 screenshots a month with no card.

Privacy note

Mozilla says Firefox Screenshots records interaction events, such as using Save full page or Copy, but does not collect the captured URL or details of the image. See Mozilla Support for its explanation.
